Think of a great musician you know, an actual great one. Either someone famous or someone completely unknown. Let us know who you've picked.

Yes, this is completely subjective.

Ronald Romm, one of the trumpeters for the Canadian Brass for close to 30 years.

Bill Monroe (The Father of Bluegrass)

Steve Harris- Iron Maiden

That's 2 from Maiden!

securing there place as greatest band ever!!

Make that three for 'Maiden'...

Clive Burr, who suffers from MS, kicked ass as the original Iron Maiden Drummer.

Mike Patton, of Faith no more/Mr Bungle/Fantomas/Tomohawk fame.

Ian Anderson, the lead vocal and flautist for the progressive rock band Jethro Tull.

Ian did for the flute what Jimmi Hendrix did for the guitar. Plus, read some of his lyrics sometime, the man is an incredible poet.

Django Reinhardt

-Jazz guitarist in the 1930's and 40's who full use of only 2 fingers on his fret hand...the other two were paralyzed in a fire. He was a pioneer of Jazz guitar and one of the most respected players in history.

I think one of the more underrated musicians is Gordon Lightfoot...........so I'll go with him!

Excellent thread!

Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868)

Charlie Parker or simply "Bird". He was a trailblazer in bebop and to this day not many can claim to have started the kind of revolution he and Dizzy brought not just to jazz but to musicianship in general.

There's a lot of people who fit this category, so, I guess I'll go with a not as well known one.

Jon Schaffer (Founding member and guitarist of Iced Earth and Demons & Wizards)
