What is the most spontaneous thing you've ever done for a loved one?

Convince me puh-leease that this generation is still capable of something romantical.

bought flowers, got gifts on special ocations, massages ya know all that good stuff 🙂

Does tea-bagging count? I mean if I did it, you know... "Romantically." 😛

My ex one time surprised me with 6 long stem yellow roses while I was at work one day.

Romance definitely isn't dead. I'm not a chef, but I do like to surprise with a home cooked meal, some candles, flowers and all that good stuff 😛

^ya thats true just the other day leaf surprised me with a rose 😛

I am full of surprises. I have not dated in ages but when I was married I used to do small things out of the blue for my wife. She came home one day with a note stuck to the door. The note read, "close your eyes and turn around!" She did as asked and then She opened her eyes to see me standing there in a suit with a rose. I took then took her to a nice dinner and then took her to a hotel for the weekend. The Hotel was only 8 miles from our home but it did include a weekend pass to Disneyland. She enjoyed that kind of stuff.

I am not of this generation so I know not of what you speak...

So answer me this. What generation are you from? There has been much controversy over that subject. :rowfull: Love you brother.

I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you...rules of the brotherhood and all...

I'm a romantic at heart and I'm lucky enough to be with someone that is just as sappy as me. Romance ain't dead. Not if I'm alive. 🙂

I've been known to drive hundreds of miles just to spend time with someone.

Also, I once pretended to like Glee. My ears nearly bled from the effort. 😛

I decorated a shoe box, inside and out, with magazine clippings, and filled it with receipts, boarding passes, and so on, to remind me of all the good times we had together.

It's a nificent box. 🙂

We went to a public area in the middle of the night and made out on the grass. I had no clue I would ever do that. Well it was great until the cop showed up and ruined our fun.

He drove like a bajillion miles without stopping to see me. That's pretty special. 🙂

Surprised you head didn't explode. Thank god for mp3 players and headphones.

I'm a hopeless romantic myself.

For example, I was dating this girl, several years back, who loved Skittles. So, she was having a relatively stressful week at work, and to try and cheer her up a bit, I did this:

I went to a Walmart at like 2am, I bought the biggest bag of Skittles I could find, bought some pink ribbon (which was her favorite color), and tied a single rose around the bag along with a small card that simply said "Hope this makes your day a little bit better. I love you."

I then drove over to her house and left that package on the windshield of her car.

Here's a more recent example:

I'm currently dating a girl who is just as big of a romantic as I am, but for some reason, has never really be doted on. So, for our very first date, I brought her a dozen roses and a little gift. Since I knew that she had an affinity for Renaissance Fairies, I bought her a little novelty fairy catching kit with a tiny little bottle and bug net.

So no, romance is not dead.

With Valentine's Day approaching, I try not to think about it. But... ok, I'll admit it. I'm going to Paris, France for my 40th birthday. It's one of the most romantic places I've ever visited and one of my all time favorite cities.

As far as things I've done: I've driven several hours, made CD's, baked cookies, sent cards.

Things that someone has done for me - left a rose outside my door on my birthday and wrote a song for me.

A gentleman and a scholar.

Romance all depends on the people involved. For some people, flowers are the key, while for others, they're lame and a waste of money.

The whole key of romance is caring enough about someone to think about what they would truly want, and then providing it without asking.

For example, it can be as simple as a CD of all their favorite songs when they have to drive somewhere they don't want to go to, or just showing up outside their door when they desperately need someone there.

In the past, I've done the traditionally romantic things such as flowers, driving across town to pick up "sickie" supplies, and including a teddy bear, or driving through a snowstorm to pick up someone who doesn't want to be alone in winter weather.

Crystal, when you got home from work, i would have a trail of rose petals leading from the door to the bathroom, where a nice bubble bath would await you. then another trail of rose petals leading to the bed, where id strap you down and....well you know the rest. :happyhop:

Her kitty died of old age. I lucked out and found a just weened kitty with almost identical markings and gave it to her. She said that was the nicest thing anyone had done for her. So I guess that's my entry.

I'm even older than Venray (if that's possible). :grandpa: My generation did the most we could to completely kill romance in the 1960's and replace it with promiscuous lust.

I decorated a shoe box, inside and out, with magazine clippings, and filled it with receipts, boarding passes, and so on, to remind me of all the good times we had together.

Good for you, AnnieHall. 😀
