...The impact that the New World Order(nWo), had on the buisness? When the nWo was in it's prime in the WCW, they were unstoppable. I gotta tell you, wrestling had never been as fun to watch, or participate in. I was probably the biggest New World Order fan there was. I remember getting into heated arguments about nWo vs WCW...(I always liked the "New World Order vs Sports Entertainment in general" viewpoint, as a nWo fan. The way they were set up in WCW was perfect, the speech Hogan gave, the "takeover" by hall and nash....it made it all seem truly emotional. When you really think about it though, the New World Order did what they said they would do. They dominated in the ring, destroyed everyone who stood in the way of the agendas they had, made a mockery of professional wrestling's best, and eventually, extremely hurt the buisness, by putting wcw out of the picture. Now that wcw, wwe's only real competition, is out of the picture, creativity has obviously suffered in the buisness. The ratings prove it. The New World Order gave wrestling fans a hell of a ride though, and if Mcmahon had handled it right, or better yet, let hogan and nash rule the nWo and call the shots like they did in wcw, the New World Order would have once again took a "stand" against the buisness, taken over world wrestling entertainment, and boosted ratings ten-fold. If only it had been handled right...Mcmahon obviously didn't care too much about the return of the nWo, because they didn't have that "fire" they had in wcw....it didn't seem as though they had that "real" want to destroy the buisness. It didn't have heart or character, unlike the heyday of nWo/WCW. (I know that whole speech was dramatic, and I don't care, lol 😛)

....What do you think? Am I right? Or am I just some nWo fanboy who needs to move on? 😉 😀 😛 (it'll never die! It's an attitude!)

Krokus, forget pro wrestling, it is controlled and scripted and the viewer is left to go "golllleeee, lookit at that, didja SEE that ???"

heh heh

My interest here is in your future location: Japan.

You are elected to be the TMF's pipeline to those Japanese tickling videos that outclass anything available here in the States, yet are unavailable to any of us.

Set up a pipeline where us tickle freaks here can make a simple secure credit card purchase for those EXCELLENT Japanese tickle videos and there will be big bucks in it for you. We'll work something out.

You USA tickle video producers listen up here. Your product SUCKS compared to what the Japs are putting out. Go to Japan and learn how to do it right. It ain't that f'ing difficult.

Isn't this suppose to be a wrestling thread?

Anyway, I thought the NWO worked great in it's first 5 months or so. Especially that disgusted look on Tony Shivone and Eric Bishoff's faces (before Bishoff joined), when the NWO theme music started.
There was the infamous "dart" incident, where Kevin Nash threw Rey Mysterio into the trailer headfirst, like a dart.
And nothing could beat the night when Sting showed up and finally spoke after a year, his words to Hogan: "You.....You're dead!"
I think things started to unravel when they broke the group into 2 factions with the Wolfpack and then the latino LWO, that was getting a bit too much.
It was around this time time ECW came up with the BWO(Blue World Order), which was nothing more than a parody.
But the beginning concept with the Outsiders and the takeover was very inspired.
Of course, there'll be some who say Bishoff ripped off the NWO from Japanese wrestling.

Yeah, when the NWO first came out, wrestling was on fire. I was still in college then and all over the campus was NWO shirts, and other things worn. When Nitro came on, everyone was in the dorms watching. No phone calls, nothing. Just watching Nitro. But, like all supergroups, if its done too long, it gets stale, and loses effect. Nobody handled the NWO angle right, not Bischoff or McMahon. That's too bad, because if done right, they could have been the greatest faction ever created😀

I think it worked out well in WCW (for a time, anyway.), but the same concept would not work well in the WWE. It's too much of a different chemical compound. Especially as old as Hogan and Nash are, I don't know how many people could take their "domination" seriously, when there's all this dangerous, new blood in the WWE (i.e., Brock Lesnar, Batista, etc.), not to mention beasts like the Undertaker and Kane, which just wouldn't fit with the nWo gimmick. Also, I don't think fans would sit idly by while the WWE would attempt to ignore these possible confrontations against the more dangerous types and continue to have the nWo bully people like Rey Mysterio or Spike Dudley, etc. Also, the bullying thing would only be able to go so far, because the WWE wouldn't have half the WWE joining with the nWo. I think the route they are taking with Evolution is much better. Flair may be ancient, but he doesn't "dominate" the same way Hogan tried. I used to not be impressed with Randy Orton, but his cocky character has developed quite a bit, and they're really promoting this thing between him and Mick Foley pretty well (still no Foley, though. We'll see.). Batista is just a beast, which every dominating team needs, and I find him to be impressive. My only complaint is that Triple H doesn't impress me like he used to. He never really has since the Degeneration X thing went down the drain, which is where I think he did the best. Now, he looks to be getting a little chunky, and should probably start tapping into that Stacker 2 they always advertise. Just my opinion.

As with any wrestling faction, time takes its toll. Look back at other groups like the Heenan Family, the Hart Foundation, the Ministry of Darkness, the Four Horsemen, Degeneration X.....what starts out as fresh and dominating eventually, like everything else, grows tired and stale.
It was when the NWO started letting in second tier wrestlers like Buff Bagwell and Konnan that it started to fade. And where they started as a group meant to dominate and shock, it turned into a "guys in their 40's trying to act like cool 20-somethings" that started to dilute the formula.
As for the NWO in the WWE, Vince has never been able to take a tried and true formula from another wrestling organization and make it work, mostly because of his own sticky fingers gumming up the works. Of course, Nash's injuries, Hogan's ego, and Hall's alcoholism didn't help either.
Evolution looks to be on track so far. The Mick Foley-slamming promos for Randy Orton are really good. Flair on the mike ALWAYS works. And Triple H bugs the hell out of me....which is why i give him massive kudos as champion. If i hate him on site, he must be doing something right.

I'll keep this in mind, buddy. I'll be there mid-March, so I'll talk to you about it then. In the meantime, I'll do some research.

-And thanks for the replies, people. I didn't think anyone would reply. 😀

YO......time for a poll.....how many here are with us....or against us???

One more....for the bad guy!

LOL, I remember when hall used to do that every night. *sigh* ....those days were so fun.

i loved the attitude of the nwo after all the nwo is just 2 sweet and is 4 life! But why did i love it? simple, because of vince! Thatright give vince credit on this. Vince takes kevin nash, scott hall and hulk hogan and makes them the three biggest people in the business. He created great characters in razor and diesel. the fans loved them and so did i. also who did not like seeing hogan overcome some giant evil like earthquake or slaughter.

What happened was billionaire ted offered more money and signed away these guys, so the fans went with them. It was smart of uncle eric to put them togehter in the NWO but what happened is classic wcw. You take a good worker or good gimick and kill it. People wantched it at first to see hall razor edge everyone or nash throw mysterio like a dart, but after a while it got boring. They made it too much and added too many people to it. i could even live with the latino world order, the blue world order and the wolfpack but it got to be too much.

also except for hogan the guys sucked and milked it. they did nothave mcmahon telling them what to do and there life went downhill. when vince took over wcw and got them back he was smart to not use the nwo too long. i think what vince should of done was kept hogna around but bring back big daddy cool and the bad guy razor ramon. the fans loved that jive and it sold tickets and merchandise.

the bottom line is wcw sucked! look what they did to the sandman. you had one of the most crowd pleasing wrestlers of all time and they never used him. Mikey whipreck, Louie spicolli, vampiro, ric steiner, I.R.S., british bulldog, heenan, and many many more.

I liked the idea of all the luchadores grouping together. I would've found an LWo beatdown a lot more impressive than an nWo beatdown. Picture about 20 Mexicans flying through the air at one time on one guy. Flying head-scissors, martial arts kicks, hurricanranas, moonsaults, planchas...

People would be flying everywhere! That'd be one chaotic mess!

Krokus, you're such a mark!! 😛 😀 😛 😀

I actually despised NWO, which probably means they were doing their jobs well. After all, they WERE the bad guys. But my dislike for them came more from the fact that I literally get sick to my stomach every time I see Hogan. I just truly dislike the man with every fiber of my being. IMO, NWO would have been much better without him.

As for Triple H (I see a lot of opinions being expressed about him here, so I'll toss mine in as well), if you had asked me 2 months ago what I thought of the guy, I'd say I despised him ever since he left DX. But over the course of the last couple of weeks, I really have gained a lot more respect for him again. Granted I dislike his character on WWE, but that means he's doing well at generating heel heat, and that's good. But he's been bringing his mic skills back again, and he never fails to make me laugh my ass off when he goes on one of his rants. He truly is gifted on the mic when they give him the chance. I also respect him for the fact that of all the wrestlers in the business today, Triple H is one of the BEST at protecting his opponent from injury, and doing the moves true to proper technique, where his opponent is always safe. So many wrestlers have gotten sloppy with their techniques, and they are hurting their opponents in the ring. And that's not cool. Mark Henry is a good example of that. And he is far too big and powerful to be sloppy with his moves. His opponents risk serious injury every time they step into the ring with him.

And Drew, STOP THAT! Argh!! Omg, everytime Lazzy wants to get on my nerves, he pulls out his damn Scott Hall imitation. Lazzy's got long dark curly hair, so he can pull off that slicked back, one single curly hair dangling down the center of his face, toothpick in his mouth, routine perfect. And he also has his voice down to a 't'. It has to be one of the most ANNOYING, nerve grinding, nails on chalkboard impression in existance!

Oh cripes...he just read this and is now torturing me with it again!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😡 😡 😡

Mimi

Well then, if that's the case, Meems, let me torture you some more😛

Hey yo. Did you come here to see WCW? Or, did you come here to see...the NWO. Cause we're just too sweeeeeeet😀

My Thoughts...

They're either steroidheads or out of shape fat ass old men.

Either way I can whip the best of those pussy ass actors.

the bottom line is htat these athletes are still getitng us to talk about them years after they past there prime. do i give them credit? yes! do i give ted turner and eric bishoff credit? hell no! do i give vince credit? Hell Ya

i have to admit, the NWO made me, a diehard WW(F)E fan, watch them. it was fascinating watching how they would destroy the WCW. then of course it got old. WCW came up with one of the biggest gimmicks of all time, but had no clue had to continue it. that is why they collapsed. but, the NWO is definitely one of my favorite groups of all time. they had an influence on me and my tickling stories. if any of you have been following it, in my series, i have a group called the TWO (Tickling World Order). ah, the NWO. the memories.....

i would also LOVE to see Neutron actually get into a fight with a Kurt Angle, or a Triple H, or Chris Benoit. how come i got a feeling Neutron wont post as much after he takes on one of them?

Man i have to admit wrestling today is kinda boring. The way i feel, i look forward to the diva matches rather than the main events. After all, it always ends the same. Hhh gets his ass kicked and then goes under the ring for the sledge hammer. I liked wcw because they gave respect to the light weight division. Its hard to get excited about a belt changing hands in the wwe because the wwe doesnt know how to promote matches anymore. Everything in the wwe has become predictable.

As for the nwo. Thats the peek of hogans career. hogan was pretty healthy in wcw. hall wasnt a pot head and nash wasnt this walking zombie. Due manly to hall being a pot head, nash being plagued with injuries and hogan simply being too old and fatigued to wrestle in matches anymore.

Currently i think the evolution is a lame version of what the four horseman were. Look at batista. You guys have to admit the dudes microphone skills are zero to none. Thats probably why they give him a minimal amount of microphone time.

Thats my thoughts.
