I thought it would be a great idea to get to know some people through a little bit of intellectual thought on this thread. But I can't ever ask someone how they are, or what they are like (because it's usually never true, they have a different perception of themselves than what is the case.)

So how about this, this new thread I'm going to start is where you can post your favorite quotes, and this is how it's gonna be done.

1. First stick what the quote is about in the title. (Love, hate, heartbreak, changes, war, religion, marxist values, cats, etc.)

2. Put the quote in! Only one quote per post though okay? And don't put an explanation why either, let the rest of us look at it...check it out...examine it with our minds, and come to our own conclusions!

3. No fighting, insulting, or otherwise slandering anyone elses posts or quotes. I don't want fighting in my thread!

I'll put an example one below this post. Let's have some fun!

Censorship

"Let us be clear: censorship is cowardice...It masks corruption. It is a school of torture: it teaches, and accustoms one to the use of force against an idea, to submit thought to an alien "other." But worst still, censorship destroys criticism, which is the essential ingredient of culture."

-Pablo Antonio

"On going to war over religion: You're basically killing each other to see who's got the better imaginary friend."

personal freedom

Courage

AR, outstanding idea for a thread! I agree 100% with your quote, btw 🙂

the meaning of life

"The meaning of life is that it is to be lived, and it is not to be traded and conceptualized and squeezed into a pattern of systems" - Bruce Lee

Death

"I don't know what is the meaning of death, but I am not afraid to die - and I go on, non-stop, going forward [with life]. Even though, I Bruce Lee, may die someday without fulfilling all of my ambitions, I will have no regrets. I did what I wanted to do and what I've done, I've done with sencerity and to the best of my ability. You can't expect much more from life." - Bruce Lee

Talking and Listening

"You have two ears and one mouth. Use the proportionately"
-a CD of hubby's to train him in car sales

(A++ thread, AR)

War.

"They make a desert, and call it peace."

Calgacus's speech to the Caledonians - Agricola. Tacitus.

On Life

"When you look at something that you believe is perfect, you will never see its flaws. When you look at something that you believe is flawed, you will never see its perfection."
--Kingsley Lee

The Theory of Weirdness Relativity:

Wierd stuff is only wierd because it happens where normal stuff is supposed to happen. If weird stuff happens where wierd stuff is supposed to happen, that's normal! If normal stuff happens where normal stuff is supposed to happen, that's normal. But if normal stuff happens where wierd stuff is supposed to happen, THAT'S WIERD!

Therefore, wierdness is a relative concept....

-Mike Warnke, from the album Live: Totally Wierd

taxes

"A fine is a tax for doing something bad.A tax is a fine for doing something good."-Anon

-Malcolm X

Attention

'It is better to go unnoticed and accomplish much than to be the center of attention and accomplish nothing." - General Heinz Guderian

"The hatred we bear for our enimies injured their happiness less than our own."
