So I'm looking for a new doll for my daughter and came across these Reborns, *very* expensive dolls made to look as much like a real baby as possible:

What do you think, cool or creepy?

Part of me is amazed by how well they're made and I like how happy they make the sweet, usually older ladies who buy them...but I just don't think I could sleep with one of these in my house... :zomgrabbit:
 
Gotta agree a little bit of both. Cute and creepy.....

If your looking for a baby doll my favorite is the Bitty Baby by the American Girl Company. I've played with their stuff for years. 🙂
 
I think they are creepy, but beautifully crafted, but thats because I saw that documentary where these women buy them and put them in strollers like they are real babies. It was very sad.

I also think the American girl dolls are awesome and you can get the ones that look like you which is so cute. At one time, I had 7 American Girl Dolls, now I am down to 4. Bitty Baby is cute too!

I think they scare me less than dolls that look less real yet cry and piss everywhere.
Even so, I don't think I'd get one. 😀

They're adorable and, I think, would be great for motherhood classes. But, I'm not sure I entirely like them looking so real.

OTOH, for those who see having a baby as nothing more than a status thing, it would save a child the pain of an unfit parent.
 
A little bit of both...I wouldn't mind one visiting with another kid or something, but I'm with Bella, I couldn't sleep with one in my house. They look far too real, like they're about to wake up and Chuckie us all to death.
 
Omg .. that first one looks so freakin real! Creepy .. but I am jealous of how realistic it truly is .. veryyy cool, man.

But I'm with what Lyz says .. that is so Chuckie waiting to happen!
 
Beautifully crafted but way too creepy for me. Kind of like being in the same room with something that is, well... dead.

The first baby looks just like my grand niece who died at 5mos from SIDS. The craftsmanship is awesome, but there's no way I can have that in my house!

Off topic: Bella! I'm not sure what you're looking for as far as dolls go, but when I was your daughter's age my mom got me a MyTwinn doll. It's a really cool concept. Basically you send in a picture, a lock of hair, and very specific attributes you want, and the MyTwinn makers will make a doll that looks exactly like your daughter.

You can get matching outfits, baby dolls for the baby dolls, etc. Mine looked exactly like me. They're really expensive, though. Still -- something to maybe check out?

At the very least, buy lots of them, like at least 12. Then, one day, when you're going to be having a guest over or something similar, and if you have a guest bedroom or somewhere like that, fill the room with the dolls. Make sure they're looking directly at the place the guest will be sleeping.

I think the creep factor comes from the fact that they look real, but they don't look alive.

That's what took the air out of my lungs when I saw the pics. Beautifully artistic, but extremely creepy and disturbing.:boo2:

Worst part is they're almost totally silent... They don't breathe, they can't talk, and they're not heavy enough to make the floor creak. All the warning anyone would get is the faint scraping sound as they dragged their little plastic feet across the floor, with a butcher knife in clenched tight in both of their tiny faux-baby hands...

Although I'm sure they'd wake their victim first, at least briefly. They would want their cold, beady, unblinking little doll eyes to be the last thing you see...
