As much as this has become a joke, it's a perfect example. Yes I got lost in Jersey for 5 hours :doh: but overall the whole thing made me feel so much better. I drove for 12 hours. Of course you can't do this all the time LOL but sometimes just getting away and being by yourself, even if you get lost, can really help to clear your head. And plus, you're that much more happy to get home LOL
 
Smoke, watch Mash, play GTA 4, go to the beach and work on a song.

I agree 100%. Sometimes alone time is really really helpful.

There's so many things really. To get me to relax and just be at ease, I just have to do something productive to keep my mind off of what was bothering me. Now that I have all my stuff in Louisville, I can now jam on my bass guitar, pretend that I can dance to a Bob Fosse Jazz routine, play my vinyl records, or watch Aliens for the 1,000,000,000,000,000th time. If none of that works, then I put my mind to something else like people that I care about.

SSF is deserted.

Plan D: Watch hockey

No games.

Plan E: Go to hockey forum and watch nerds rage over hockey

Civil discourse is taking place.

Plan F: Get drunk with drinking buddy and have profound "man-talk"

Drinking buddy doesn't want to get deep just yet.

Plan G: Get drunk with drinking buddy and terrorize the neighborhood

Drinking buddy isn't available.

Plan H: Drink alone till I pass out (nothing I recommend though)

Caffeine (seems anti-relax, but for me, a recovering addict, its akin to a smoker lighting one up)
 
Accept the fact i am gonna be stressed for a while. Doing anything just makes me tired AND stressed out. Which only serves to make me pissed off.
Depending upon the circumstances, this. I usually have to wait and "seethe" it out.

And playing video games works well also 🙂 - Final Fantasy for the win.

This was a recent one for me. I paid a few bucks for some Wii points, and downloaded Final Fantasy IV: the After Years, thinking I saved money buying Wiiware to play an awesome game, only to find out that what I thought was going to be an $8 game was going to turn into a $38 game, because I have to use Wii points to buy the "extra" content(rest of the story!). Damn you, Square-Enix! Damn you for being brilliant capitalists! Oh well. Until I feel justified in paying for more Wii points, Mario Kart is my video game stress relief. Anything that involves driving can actually CONTRIBUTE to stress, but it makes me feel good when my son cracks up and mocks the character noises. It makes me laugh! 😀

I'm with you, here. When I quit smoking, I compensated by consuming twice as much coffee. Now, if I don't get my daily dose, the headaches come, and the demon awakens. I should have stock in Excedrin: Tension Headache.

Other things I do to relax:

Working. It keeps me distracted, and allows plenty of short-term, pleasant social interaction with customers.

Rubbin' one out. Simply a quick endorphin release.

Napping, which I SPECIFICALLY must do on the couch. Otherwise, it's just going to bed.
 
Listen to some mellow music.
Have a smoke &/or soak.
Meditate.
Remind myself of the things that are good in my life.
Do site work...tedious, yes, but also relaxing.
Visit/Talk with friends.
 
A bell tower and a sniper rifle with lots of ammo. :zombies:
In all seriousness........I dunno. Maybe this is why I'm always tensed up physically. :shrug:
