how come people in the chat room are a lot ruder than people on the forum?? and i dont mean crepy guys, i mean everyone else lol. ive been in it like a few times and whenever i try to joke around in themain room, people get all pissy. and everyone keeps telling me people get mad if u pm them without asking?? ive never ever ever seen that kinda stupid stuff.

am i a bad joke teller? 🙁

I don't know Sarah, I don't have a problem with you, but yeah, people can be rude in the chat room, and people do get mad if you PC them in the chat room without asking.. some do anyways. And then there are people that make it an over the top big deal when someone does it which is annoying... but.. there are some nice people that come in. I'm sorry that you've had bad experiences in the chat room. I don't pay attention to the main room half the time...

How do you get in. I have tried and thus been unable. I would be glad to chat with any of you, especially you Sarah.

some people can just be jerks just try to ignor them and dont let them scare u away if it gets bad enough just report them to the mods

Hopefully you'll try it once more...there actually are a few nice people who stop by and understand the rules and who will be respectful, though certainly it's hit-or-miss. In any case welcome, it's nice to have you with us!

yeah, report them and then have all of their friends attack you because it's okay if they're jerks to you...

did you click on the chat room link? if you can find that and it's not working you might have to update java.

first off- it is a rule of the chatroom to ask before you pm someone- im one of those people who dont like to be pm'd w/o asking first- mainly because i dont really like to pm, everyone is different that situation is nothing new.

secondly- chatroom is nothing but a drama pit. you'll learn that soon enough.

I can see your point. I very rarely log into chat, to be honest, I went in one day cos someone was on there own, said "Hi" no answer....waited a few mins and then they logged off, no bye see ya later. very rude.

I feel you. The chartroom is pretty cliquey and not so much fun for those not in the loop. I think the way people react to PM's is also pretty ridiculous. I think it should be more like real life where people speak spontaneously to one another without a protocol that requires them to ask the person to speak to them. But I can understand that some people can be very annoying with the PM's stupid PM's.

No worries sarah. I think you're better off hanging out here on the boards or simply chatting at your local sushi bar or coffee spot with total strangers who would be nicer than most you find on the chat room. Besides, you can only read someone imaginary tickle someone so many times.

The way I see it, some folks just want to keep it in the room. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what they like. However, anyone can pc me in the chat room, anytime you see me in there. We can talk tickling, or any other subject you want.

Speaking of the chat room, everytime I fill out my profile in there, the next time I log in, it's blank. This has happened several times. Does anyone else have this problem?

I think the rule stating you must ask in the main chat room before PCing is a little ridiculous myself, but it's the rule. Best to just follow them and then you won't have a problem with people being rude about the PC issue. Personally, I'm aggravated whenever someone PCs me out of the blue, and then asks someone in the main chat to PC. If nothing else, that's rude.

Otherwise, it's not about the room being cliquey. It's that one has to be active in conversation. If one is silent or doesn't really try to keep to the conversations, as chaotic as it can sometimes be, one can easily be lost amongst everyone else.

Also, the profiles, I'm told, do that with everyone.

it resets everytime you close your browser, only way to avoid that is to close just the digichat window and leave the internet browser open to the 'connect' page...

Chat room blows. Most of the time no one is talking, or they are PM-ing.

I enjoy the chat room; generally I try to be as kind as I can to everybody and stay way from any drama

I never get offended by PM's w/o asking and just ignore or kindly pm back people if I'm not interested

I'd agree it's kind of silly to ask each time you pm but rules are rules and they are probably there because most feel otherwise

The moderators have said (or well at least 2 have) that the rules were from long ago when the previous chat room system existed. Apparently just by opening the PM box with someone, it automatically opened one on the other end before you even said anything. So they put in the rule to ask before you pc.

Now the system doesn't do that and people just use it as an excuse to be drama *****s. It's like those people who tell people to shut up in chat and argue left and right with them but don't just use the ignore button.

Actually it reminds me about one day when the usual group were yelling at this one guy for over an HOUR and at one point one of them (I won't name names) goes "Everyone who thinks *the guy* should shut the fuck up raise your hand!" and everyone raises their hand..... as if there is no ignore button.

They love the drama.

The rule still exists because some members (usually women) when they enter the room get slammed with PM's for chat. And a good number of said people will not take no for an answer and keep slamming them.

It's annoying, and causes many members to leave.

Also due to some java errors, for some users, every time a user changes PM boxes they are typing in they have to close the old one and re open it to keep continue the chat. That gets tired fast when you are trying to have a chat and have to keep exiting it to tell someone that you don;t want to PM now.

We feel that it's polite to ask. We also wish people would be less dickish about it when people fail to do it. Is it so hard to say "no thank you" and move on? Apparently so.

Myriads

most of the people who go in the chatroom are people who dont see the light of day, thats why they act so ridiculous over PMing. ive never seen a chatroom where people get so pissy about pcs.. if you dont like it, then dont go in the chatroom. there is a few sane ones though!

theyre pathetic, have no lives, nor friends outside of the chatroom

I've been a member since 2002 & yeah a lot of immature people now roam the TMF and a lot of them have taken over the chat room; its like High School with all the cliques. The rude ones used to be known as "trolls" cause they were only here to cause trouble. Now the rude ones are actually TMF members, it's sad what has become of the chat room.
Personally I get PM'd all the time by people I dont know and respond to them politely still in PM mode no thanks or hey nice to meet you. I dont put them on blast in the main chat room. Understandably the "creepers" the ones who don't understand no means no, need to be put on blast so the moderators can get involved.
Sarah there's nothing wrong with you, keep being the same person you are and don't let the "people who have nothing better to do then rag on other people" make you feel any different or change.
