When the rainfall and tempetures are right in Cental Texas the Bluebonnet (our state flower) will bloom as early as late Feburary or early March, but the peak is usually the first week or so in April. Sadly this has not been true the last few years due to the drought, but when it happens it helps to make spring my favorite season here, followed by fall.
The bluebonnet is to Texas what the shamrock is to Ireland, the cherry blossom to Japan, the lily to France, the rose to England and the tulip to Holland.
