Soaring gasoline prices

The oil companies aren't the bad guys, I think the car companies should probably be chastised just as much. But really its that we as americans had'nt really pushed for alternative fuels. We sit at home and complain but heck we got a good system of government that alot dont even seek to use. Maybe we should get a patition or start an interest group (shudders) and let the politians know that we are sick of relying on other countries for fuel. Just like the oil embargo of the old days, we dont seem to learn from history I guess.

It's not Exxon, Mobile and Texaco's fault for the soaring gas prices. OPEC has greatly limited production in order to inflate the price-per-barrel, creating the atmosphere of a "gas shortage".

Well again I do think that we need to more in Public Transportation to allieveate the stress of personal vehicles and the clutter of vehicles on our overtaxed and outdated highway system. I know theyve been working on a high-speed rail line between Miami and New York for a few years now because they recently approved a stop near a town I know of in North Carolina, called Henderson..its off of I-85 and though the town is predominatly poor and has the highest unemployment in the state they agreed to put a stop here, and for good reason, it will help this area and the local community with jobs and construction has recently begun.

Also remember its eaiser to build large commuter networks in countries the size of Kansas (just one state) in the US, than to try to build a huge network in a country the size of this one. Granted we could work one state at a time...but it is still a huge task.

Just a few years ago, Dallas and Fort Worth built a commuter train linking the 2 cities, with plans to expand even further to Plano (north of Dallas).

As a trucker I am suprised diesel hasn't gone up nearly as much as gasoline has For the most part diesel is still less than $3 a gallon If diesel goes up more than $3 a gallon look for price increases at stores for consumer goods

I am so glad I am a company driver I would hate to pay for diesel myself The high diesel prices has affected me though A lot of trucking companies are shipping the trailers by rail because it's cheaper

Basically we truckers have had to take a pay cut in order to keep prices of consumer goods like food, clothes, etc down God help this country if we truckers decide to shut down
