We're proud to announce a few things at this time.

First, Agencies #11 has been in production for a little while now, and is close to being unveiled. Every issue we do is unlike any other issue we've ever done. Now while that seems like the most obvious statement ever, it isn't just the content, but also how we approach the initial storywriting process, communication with the art team, and pace and feel of the story. And I feel great about this issue. I think it alternates issues, because I felt great about issues 7 & 9, then not so much on issues 8 & 10. There's a lot of firsts with this issue, which leads me to...

Second item is the one I'm most excited about. Dave2112 has been brought on board with us to steer the stories in a good direction. After working with him for one issue now, it's definitely a partnership that I'd like to see continue. These next few issues of The Agencies are going to be pivotal, and I wanted an expert set of eyes to read over everything, and suggest ways to trim down the script so that it still tells a good story, but also doesn't dilly dally in getting to the point. And I'm really happy with the result on this one. Dave's been around since as far back as I can imagine, and I don't need to post any introductory language here. He is legend, and I'm honored to have worked with him on this project, and also on future Ruthless projects.

Third item, we've switched art teams again. The Agencies has had several artists through its ten issue lifetime. We've hired out the same art team for issues 7-10, and were very happy with the life and feel they gave our stories. However, after issue 10, they became swamped with projects (not surprisingly, given their talent), and were unable to work with us on a timely basis going forward. So we did an exhaustive search (good Lord, I must've reviewed about 100 portfolios or more), and I found an art team that's going to represent the comic universe in a different way over the next several issues. His look is vastly different than anything else I've personally seen, and the end result is just great.

Fourth item of note, we are restructuring the way we handle orders. The process is not finished yet, but starting with issue #11, we're hoping to get a fully automated payment system going. The logistics are still up in the air, but in theory, you should be able to purchase our books and download them instantly. This will be a huge upgrade from the way we handle orders now, and I personally can't wait until that system goes live.

So we've been quiet these last months, but hard at work getting some stuff done.

And now I'm pleased to be able to share some of the production artwork from Issue #11, slated to go on sale...soon?

The following piece was one of the first items that we did in the very beginning of production. This part took awhile. I had to make sure the transition of the look of the characters went well. I wanted to ensure the characters we've been working on for so long still kind of looked like themselves, but also were definitely in the new style of the series. This series covers Magistrate Veronica, Yin/Yang, Agent Deadline, and Agent Succubus (in order). Good start so far.

The twins look pretty cute in this issue. Dave had some great input on the looks of the twins in the series, and this is a result of that feedback. This is Yin, toying with Succubus on the first page of the book. At this point in the story, Succubus doesn't know where she's going, or what foul things the twins have planned. When we left off this particular storyline, the twins were pissed off at Succubus for invading their turf and turning their boss into a drooling idiot with her seductive abilities. They were also frustrated that they couldn't torture her, because any time they would try, she would use her beguiling powers on them, preventing them from harming her in any way. So they devised this plan...

Ok, now the production kicks into "holy shit that looks good" mode. Some of the panels came out just incredible. The look, the feel, the characters, some just turned out great. I like this panel in particular. This is Agent Succubus, looking good. For those interested, I've also included the evolution of the artwork. From the pencils/storyboards in the upper left, to the inks finished in the bottom left, to the finished product on the right. The colors are really well done, I like how they turned out.
Agencies011_Promo02.jpg

Heh, this is our wannabe Rated X panel. All sorts of interesting things being implied here, and I don't want to introduce any spoilers to the story at this point. But the twins have gotten ahold of someone, and my...they're feeling kind of naughty. I wanted to start developing the twins a little bit more than they had been in the past, and this issue, along with the next few issues, will help to that end. I also added in the pencils and inks for this panel, to see the process from beginning to end.
Agencies011_Promo03.jpg

Another shot of Succubus, wondering in horror at the same thing that we're wondering in fascination. It's also the curious thing that goes through every tickler's mind in the middle of a tickle session 'hey she looks like she's having fun, but how much of this can she actually take?'
Agencies011_Promo05.jpg

This is the other twin, Yang. You got to love a woman who enjoys what she does.

There will be more on the production of this issue in time. We're working on finishing it up 100% and getting the site ready to accept payments. But right now we'll just say it will be ready "soon"

(Dave, check out the title. I can spell the number 11 out properly once in awhile. I flipped a coin this time)

Holy hell!

Between Dave working on it, and the production art.... consider my money on the table for this next issue.

"Her spot"?????? Drools. Very very very nice. Naughty is a good thing.

Great job guys. Please let me know the second this comic is available. And if you want to email me some more teasers, that's fine too, lol.

Well, there's no question the art looks wonderful.

But to be perfectly honest, I'm going to keep a "wait and see" approach on the story and tickle action, which, with all honesty, has been rather disappointing in the Agencies since it's rebirth in Issue 7.

Yes, I'm sure to get flamed by somebody for saying that, but it's my honest opinion.

First off, let me say that it was an honor to be asked to join the Agencies team in any capacity, let alone one that became as involved as it did. I've been a fan of this comic for a long time, and being approached to help work on it was kinda like Geddy Lee asking me to play bass at Toronto... :triangle:

Second, I am just as excited as Oblesklk about this new direction. Nope, not pullin' any spoilers outta me, (I signed a confidentiality clause that has something to do with raw meat and an alligator pond) but I really do feel that the Agencies is breaking new ground, both artistically and story-wise, with this issue. I've done my own works for so long now that I had no idea of the complexity of the process involved in doing a multi-departmental full comic. I think you'll be quite surprised with the results.

I'm really psyched about this one. Even moreso than my own projects, to be honest. Ok, I just can't take it anymore! Just wait until Issue 12...see, there's this thing where a contraption comes out of the least expected place and....

...is that hissing coming from behind me? :idunno:

Gentlemen, this looks to be fantastic!!! Please tell me Succubus finally gets hers from the twins??!!

Raul

Yes this looks absolutely fantastic to me. Great quality work. Beautiful.

Thanks for the replies!

That's a closely guarded secret around here. I will say that I've looked forward to writing that sequence for about two years now. I won't say if it's been written yet, or if it will ever appear, but it will be good times if it finally goes lives 😀

She's a crafty one, that Succubus. She keeps using her seductive powers to protect herself for any tortures, which has absolutely infuriorated the twins. So see...they have this plan...

This artwork is completely unlike anything I've ever seen before. I was kind of hesitant at first, but it's certainly grown on me since. Especially their coloring talents, some of the lighting effects and coloring just floored me. so I'm definitely anxious to get this series going and see what it can do on an open road!

I'm liking more naughty, too. Since I've loosen my own personal limitations on publishing nudity, I've found the freedom to explore a lot more areas than I would normally. If used when you not necessarily expecting it, it's so damn hot. So I'm definitely digging that freedom. The other really cool thing about these next few issues is that fact that we've had so much buildup since issue seven, that we're starting to get right into the action quicker, which is obviously cool for everyone involved.

We all become attached to our characters over time, and I'm really pleased with how Succubus looks in this issue. Not to denigrate the job the artist did for the other characters, but Succubus in particular looks exactly how I always imagined her.

We're working on more admin issues, hopefully the comic will be available soon.

This looks like a great upcoming issue, but I'm afraid I won't be buying anthying from Oblesklk or The Agencies because they still haven't filled an order for 3 issues that I paid for over a week ago, and two emails I've sent to Oblesklk trying to resolve the situation have been seemingly ignored.

I'm posting here because I can see that Oblesklk posts here, so it's the only way I can see to make sure my voice is heard on the subject. Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I felt I had no choice. I'd prefer to discuss it via email, but since I get no response there, I chose the only venue that seemed likely to get a reaction.

On a balancing note, I did buy a single issue of The Agencies awhile back and that was delivered within 24 hours, so I'm at a loss to explain why I'm being stiffed this time around.

Again, sorry for the intrusion. If this situation can be resolved to my satisfaction (basically, I'd just like to get what I paid for and know why it took so long and why my emails went unanswered), I'd certainly consider purchasing this new issue when it is completed. I respect the obvious talent and effort involved, even if I question the service I've experienced.

Ack, I'm glad you did say something! Apparently we've had an email issue that I should've picked up on by now. Your's, and a couple others orders fell off the map. I apologize for this, this was my fault for not noticing it earlier. I'll send you a PM right now to correct the situation. I appreciate your honestly on your post.

I know our ordering system is not...optimal. That's why I'm pretty excited to get this new automated ordering system on the site.

I just got the issues. Thanks for them and the explanation. I work with computers for my profession, so I know how things can go wrong at times. That's partly why I didn't just jump to an accusation of being ripped off, the other reason being from my past experience with your service and with what I've seen of you here I didn't doubt your sincerity or contribution to the community.

On a side note, the only problem I have with the current order system (other than orders being missed, of course) is that each page is a separate attachment, making it a tedious process to extract the entire issue.

Thanks again. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the new issue.

Glad to hear it worked out in the end, even though it was late. I think I found out what happened, and it's very strange. But I ran some test emails, so hopefully the problem is fixed.

Regarding the separate file issue, that will be fixed with the new system. Zip files for all!

Thanks again for being patient.

No. of pages?

I was wondering how many pages long is this issue is going to be?

Bandito's Temple of Bounce was 16 pages (not including cover) and Bounce of the Dragon was 14 pages.

Scavenger's (not including covers and bonus pinups) books include In Extremis (20 pg), Strange Stories (25 pg), and Weakness (14 pg); with Tech Tickling being 25 pinups as well as a 5 pg story. And then there's all the bonus pages for all his stuff.

Additionally, both these master tickle artists regularly post wonderful tickle art for free, such as Bandito's ongoing mega-series Tickling In Space (of which I do the story editing, script editing, lettering and colouring).

These two greats of the genre have, in my opinion, raised the bar on not only the quality of art and tickle action and story, but the shear quantity of pages you get with an issue. Making people's tickle bang for their buck go so much further. 😀 :bowing:

I understand it's most likely too late to add more pages to the next issue, but will future issues of Agencies, and Ruthless as well, match the generous standards of Bandito's and Scavanger's books?

All my best,
TickleFur

P.S. I adore the new look of Succubus, and dream of seeing her naked and begging for her tickles while the twins bring her to climax again and again... :2poke::wub:

That's a good point to make. As a publisher/writer, I've always opted for quality over quantity at every junction, every decision I make (as you can tell, since we only have 2-4 releases a year). Given the family, full time work, full time grad school, shooting/remastering footage for TickleTown's return, volunteering financial services to my former school, and doing hardcore technical financial research for clients on the side, I have to concede that this venture is relegated to a hobby. A hobby I love, don't get me wrong. But I will never have the time to properly publish mountains of material. When I was in my 20s it would've been more viable. Life was much simpler when I was just going to school full time as an undergrad and working part time and doing TickleTown on the side.

But c'est la vie, the 30s introduces a brand new world of obligation. And I don't even have kids yet 🙂

To address your point on tickle bang for the buck, we've always been competitive with our prices. Not too high to exploit the customer, not too low to devalue the product.

Of the products you mentioned, TOB1 is selling for $15.95 for 17 pages, including cover, making $.93/page, TOB2 is $1.06/page.

Here's our cost breakdown for The Agencies series and The Ruthless, including cover:
Agencies #1: $0.54/page
Agencies #2: $0.54/page
Agencies #3: $0.54/page
Agencies #4: $0.54/page
Agencies #5: $0.54/page
Agencies #6: $0.65/page
Agencies #7: $0.85/page
Agencies #8: $0.85/page
Agencies #9: $1.09/page
Agencies #10: $1.09/page
Ruthless #1: $1.00/page

So historically, we've actually underpriced our product quite a bit. By about half. What can I say, I love to give stuff away sometimes. These aren't surprising, it's pretty standard for what I've produced over the years. When TickleTown was going strong, we were charging $6 for 20 minutes of tickle footage, when the market rate was closer to $15-19 for the same footage in the form of clips. Getting paid is nice, but sometimes it's more than just about the cash.

It's only been recently, when we've decided to hire world class artists, that the price per page has increased to more of a market price. And as you can see with the most recent three releases, they're pretty close to their peers. Really close, actually.

So if you're looking for quantity, unfortunately you won't find it here. The first question I always get when the new issues releases is: "when's the next one" I hope the quality and love for our product will partially make up for it. Despite customer service glitches noted above earlier in the thread, I receive quite a bit of good feedback on our recent releases. Especially on Ruthless #1, I got some great feedback on that. So I'm hoping to use that success (based on customer feedback), an amazing pairing with Dave2112, to propel the continuation of the series into something truly great.

But it will take time.

And thankfully, there's mountains of other quality productions available in the community, so lots of choices and products to be had.

I understand and agree about quality over quantity, and I know you're extremely busy. Most of us are, myself included, and I never intended to imply, infere or suggest that you weren't and had tons of time to devote to these comics. But if you felt that I was suggesting such a thing, then I apologise.

I didn't work out a page-by-page breakdown as you've done, and in all honesty it didn't even occur to me. To me it's simply a matter of, in the case of the Agencies and Ruthless, averaging $12 for a ten-page issue. I do NOT consider this expensive. The folks at MTJ charge, on average, about $13-16 per comic, irregardless of number of pages. In some cases there, I felt I've gotten my money's worth. In many cases, however, it was a waste.

As you said, quality over quantity. In regards to Bandito and Scavanger, they produce both. The other comics... well...

It's only been recently, when we've decided to hire world class artists, that the price per page has increased to more of a market price. And as you can see with the most recent three releases, they're pretty close to their peers. Really close, actually.

Again, please understand that I don't think of your comics as overpriced. In fact I for one would gladly pay more if there were more pages. And I fully understand about the cost of hiring professional artists. The new art for Agencies, from what I've seen, looks tremendous.

So if you're looking for quantity, unfortunately you won't find it here. The first question I always get when the new issues releases is: "when's the next one" I hope the quality and love for our product will partially make up for it. As a fan of the genre, and a loyal customer of yours, my natural instinct is of course to want more. And due to the realities and demands of publishing, there are only so many issues you can produce in a year. Which is why I, and I'm sure others, would like bigger books: to tide us over till the next release 🙂 But I understand and accept everything you've said and explained, and will content myself to 10-page books 🙂

And thankfully, there's mountains of other quality productions available in the community, so lots of choices and products to be had.

In this I unfortunately have to disagree. In my mind there are only a small handful of quality productions in the community: Bandito's & White Lotus' Bounce Chix, Scavanger's various titles, and the Agencies and Ruthless. The rest range from average to simply awful. I know others in the community share this opinion, but I'm the only one who is willing to voice it.

I think perhaps my greatest frustration is the low quality and quantity of tickle action is so many of the books on the market. With 10 pages being about average, that's not a lot of space for the tickles. Then many of those pages are spent on un-needed or badly-done setup, leaving little left for the actual tickling. And then that tickle action is very often bad, or just plain sucks. And most seem to lack any sexual content, which is damn odd considering this is a sexual fetish.

Your books have never lacked quality art, or interesting women. Some issues of the Agencies were, to me, disappointing in the *amount* of tickling, but that's just me. I have been a loyal reader since the rebirth of the Agencies, and enjoyed Ruthless a great deal. And I very much look forward to the next issue of both. :2poke:

Please forgive me if my frustration with the tickle comic community in general has made me seem ungrateful or that I'm targeting you specifically. That is not my intent. I guess I was just hoping for more pages because that would mean more tickle action.

With deepest respect,
TickleFur

I'm not even sure where to begin with this post. There's a lot of issues going on here, and I guess I can take it line by line as you've done, that seems to be a good way to address certain points.

First, I think this is a great dialogue. On a personal level, I will always respond to items better when I believe them to be well thought out and eloquent. Criticisms/praise, doesn't matter. If the criticism is blunt, clumsy, and tangent, I would just as soon ignore it. If it hits the mark, well reasoned, balanced, and real, you better believe I read it. A few times, actually. This last post is definitely the latter.

It's funny it comes here on this thread, but that's how the 'innarweb' works sometimes :xpulcy: These production threads generally serve as a 'hey we're still alive' reminder to everyone, since we do release so infrequently.

I didn't work out a page-by-page breakdown as you've done, and in all honesty it didn't even occur to me.
It's something I always have to consider with a new release. I don't want to rip anyone off, yet I need to bank enough to pay off the artists and (most importantly in my opinion) perpetuate the series by funding future issues.

This is a good point to address here.

We used to release The Agencies in 20-page formats. We stopped doing that because they took sooooo long between releases, like basically a year per issue. That was just too much, so I had to tone it down, so the production dates were realistic. If our readers were saying "what the hell is The Agencies" after every release...well, that's not good.

So production takes a long ass time. I'm not sure if I've fully communicated just how long it takes. I can estimate it will take about two weeks for each page, cover, and pinup to be completed. For a 10 page issue with cover/pinup (pretty standard fare for us), that's roughtly 24 weeks, almost half a year. Pretty crazy, right? The new art team for The Agencies is actually a lot more responsive in the production phase, so we might be able to pare it down closer to 15 weeks. That would be a dream. We'll see if we can get it there. There's a lot of back and forth.

I write the scripts, then I sent it off to Dave for his review. We go back and forth on the phone, over emails, whatever, for awhile until we come to a good, solid consensus on the scripts. Sometimes it's big things that are changed, sometimes it's little stuff. One good example of big stuff from Dave's influence is issue 12 which is in production right now. It was originally 11 pages long, and there wasn't anything I wanted to cut out. However, Dave convinced me that a pending school scene (don't worry, no minors) really didnt belong in the storyline yet, that we need to focus on the matter at hand. That may not seem like a big deal, but it was huge. That advise gave me 2 more pages to play around with. So I could keep the project back at 10 pages like I wanted. However, after fleshing out the scenes even more, I said screw it and kept it at 11. There was just too much good stuff I wanted to leave in.

Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked, but my point is there's lots of good give and go that take place between me, Dave, and the art team, and it just takes time to work through. Fortunately language is not an obstacle here. It has been in the past, and all I can say is 'never again.' If they don't understand the business proposal, I'm not proceeding 😀

I think perhaps my greatest frustration is the low quality and quantity of tickle action is so many of the books on the market. And then that tickle action is very often bad, or just plain sucks.
This has always been my single toughest issue with the books, and one of the many reasons I want Dave on board with these series. I want to have a balance between action and story. Sometimes I feel there's too much action out there, and not enough story. On the other hand, if you have all story, and not enough action, you've just alienated your core base. So ultimately I want to create something that a mainstream person wouldn't necessarily "get" or read for fun, but that a comic book fan who is also a tickler can read it and say "that wasn't too bad" purely from a storytelling aspect. I feel with a good story and character development comes a true attachment to the comic universe and the characters. Then again, I'm old fashioned in a lot of ways.

And most seem to lack any sexual content, which is damn odd considering this is a sexual fetish.
There's a couple reasons I know I'm guilty of this. And they can be long winded answers. Honestly, I've considered writing honest to God research notes on these topics before.

In a nutshell, even though we all share this wonderful love of tickling, we all experience it so subjectively, that even a niche becomes an indivdiualistic desire. We all love different body parts, genders, fantasies, laughs, reactions, you name it. So my point is that it isn't as sexual for some of us as others of us. And when I create these characters, they will all view it differently, as well. That's some of the fun of writing the stories, most of the agents and villains in these books are just normal girl next door types, forced into a world in which tickling inexplicably solves all the world's problems. Their reactions to it are what make it kind of fun, and their personalities to it. Agent Starlight finds it kinky after awhile, and enjoys tickling to the extent she does it with her boyfriend, Kedrick. Agent Succubus loves to be playfully tickled by those who adore her, while Agent Deadline is dreadfully ticklish, and hates it. Yin and Yang are twins in the stories, yet Yin is the ice queen who hates being tickled, and loves to inflict misery and pain upon her captives...while her twin Yang absolutely loves to be tickled and to tickle, and all the sensuality that goes with it. Likewise in the Ruthless universe, Stacia has some strong deep seeded sexual connections with tickling, and will sexualize it much more strongly.

So it all depends.

I love using sexuality as a plot device, but sparingly, and only if it makes sense. If I just put in big boobs and a woman climaxing in every story, on every cover, it would become redundant, and I'd feel like I'm pandering too much to make sales, if it doesn't stay true to the story or the characters.

:2poke:
I put the tickling ratings on our books to help out those new to our books, but I don't think of them when I write the scripts. I try not to think of them as a quota or budget to meet. Some issues are just going to be more action oriented than others, so the action will vary. I "hope" that action is always good, and the quantity varies, but I will admit I've gone back and read some of the older issues, and the action just wasn't there. Sometimes when you write something, it's a lot cooler in your head, than when it gets translated and drawn by someone else, heh. So I need to tighten up when gets published in final form.

Please forgive me if my frustration with the tickle comic community in general has made me seem ungrateful or that I'm targeting you specifically. That is not my intent. I guess I was just hoping for more pages because that would mean more tickle action.

I don't feel unnecessarily persecuted. I think your above response and concerns are well voiced and should be respected. As I'm writing the scripts, I find I gravitate towards a 12 pages storyline. So who knows, maybe that will just happen naturally. 20 pages is too long for me personally, I find I lose discipline and lose track of the story. 10 pages is a bit short, and you really have to have amazing discipline to have good action while telling any kind of a story worth reading. So I wouldn't be at all surprised if 12 pages become our new norm. Ruthess #1 was 11 pages, and Agencies #12 will be 11 pages.

Hope this helps.

Releasing soon?

*Bounces anxiously* :bouncybou

Is it coming soooon? Huh? Huh? Whensitcoming, huh? :woot:

Very excited, as you can see 😉

Hopefully soon. I want to add the automated payment/download feature to the site before it releases. I've actually taken time off work this next week (first time in awhile), and will use some of that time to get things going.

Don't worry...I am also itching to see the release of Issue 11, folks! There are just so many things involved in bringing a comic like this to light. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised with this direction. Also, with the "kinks" worked out of the production process, an entire issue under our belts for both myself and the art team and lessons learned...#12 looks to be something that could take the tickling world by surprise. The pace is going nicely at this point. What is so great about working on this project is the same sort of feeling I had when I used to do studio work and made my bread as a musician. There is a real creative process here, and a lot of thought put into it. Ideas are formed, some dropped, some evolve and all become part of a whole that has its own identity.

I can't wait to see the reactions to this new Issue of The Agencies. I feel that it retains all of that which made the series so great in the first place, plus the addition of a new (and, in my opinion, unique) look and a small bit of my own touch that I hope comes through. The combination of these three things looks to take The Agencies to new heights.

Whenwhenwhenwhenwhenwhenwhenwhenwhen????:bouncybou

Still very anxious, as you can see 😉

Sorry I haven't been around much, work is kicking the crap out of me, waiting for me to get up, then hitting me in the head with a 2x4. It happens to the best of us (and worst of us) 🙂

Long story short, the billing company I'm working with is only available during business hours, and I haven't been able to take even 30 minutes off to finalize the deal. At this point I'm tempted to just deliver the comic old school...involving twine, penny rolls, and lots of carrier pigeons.

The book is ready to go, and has been for like 2-3 months now. So it's kind of retarded that I'm holding up the release. I just really wanted an automated billing process in place with this issue, especially since my time is sparse, and customer service may be minimal for a bit.

But hey look on the bright side, at least issue twelve will release soon after eleven... :xpulcy:

I'll try to post some new material soon. The pinup is done, and the prelude story (similar to what we did with Ruthless #1 which went spectacularly well) just needs some touch-up work.

Ye gods, 2-3 months??? *sobs* I'm going through agonising withdrawl here! :yowzer:

PLEASE release #11 soooon! And then 12 right after, if it's done already! PLEEEEASE!! 😱
