The Agencies: Issue Eleven tickle comic production preview

I have some good news on the road to a new release. We finally got our website updated tonight to reflect the new purchasing system.

It's very bare bones, but I tested the piss out of it, and it seems to work ok.

It's pretty easy. You go in, enter your billing information and then after your order is approved you can automatically download the comics. No more waiting for me to email them to you. Viva la digital age, heh.

Also, for those that prefer using Paypal, there is still a secondary option to log into your paypal account and pay that way.

So I want to ensure the system is working fine by having some orders trickle in, over the next few days. I will monitor them closely. Then when I'm satisfied that the new system isn't going to screw up, I'll release #11 on there.

I just brought an older issue through paypal and immediately received the link to download my purchase. So that option works fine.

Ahh wonderful! Thanks for the note.

Yes, L0Z and I are stress testing it right now, and everything seems to be holding up well.

We've had a good sized batch go through this morning, and only one person has had a failed purchase.

So it looks like #11 will release before Christmas.

Man, this is cruel. Waiting so long... and still waiting. I mean, if the system works, why keep delaying?

Because I seriously hate making money. It pisses me off :evilha:

I'm a fairly precautious person by nature. I don't like pulling the trigger unless I'm sure I know what I'm doing. Since we've had several customer service issues over this past year, I'm not anxious to start another episode. Having said that, and after seeing another wave of orders roll in without incident this morning, I'm satisifed to the system's reliability.

So enjoy, #11 is officially released.

The website is at www.the-agencies.com

Or you can cut to the chase and go to the issue's site at http://www.the-agencies.com/agencies/issue_eleven.htm

And to Dave2112, cheers man! All that work, and we finally go live 🙂

Just for fun, here's the cover of the book :xpulcy:

This is the actual size of the comic pages that you purchase. They're a bit higher resolution than our prior releases which is always good.

Sometimes you just can't win.

This morning after receiving a batch of orders, four people write in, saying their downloads would either stall, or got a message saying the data was corrupted and the download interrupted.

We're looking into it right now, and taking steps to prevent this going forward.

Well, I had no problems whatsoever. I got an email instantly after making my order, and downloaded the comic without a hitch. Verrrrrry nice, btw 🙂

Thanks for making the pages nice and BIG :veryhappy

Glad you like it so far. I've received one positive email from a customer this morning, so that's a good sign.

The higher resolution pictures are a good step to go, I think. I'm not sure what you guys are using to read the files, but hopefully you can shrink the pages easily if you find them too big (like you want the entire page on the screen instead of just half of it).

I'm hoping this data corruption is just a glitch, but we're working on fixiing it :cry1: I've reuploaded the file and submitted a help ticket with our server people. Hopefully they have some answers. I'd like to see some sort of reasonable resolution before I start the marketing push for it.

How's the new artwork, Ticklefur? It's a lot different than what we've done in 7-10. I think a lot of folks had gotten used to the look of the characters, so I hope the new style isn't too jarring. Dave and I talked about this a bit before...we were both a little hesitant about such an abrupt change in he beginning, but it's really grown on us throughout production.

Awesome Customer Service

I'm one of the four who is having problems getting the comic uploaded. Oblesklk responded to my email right away and is working very hard to make this right. Kudos to Oblesklk for his excellent customer service on this matter. I just wanted everyone at the TMF to know...

Well, I bought a copy. Downloaded without a hitch. However, I'm sorry to say that I don't feel this issue was very spectacular. Particularly for all the hype it got (admitedly, this was mostly fan hype). The art style is nice, but it severely detracts from the emotional expression of the characters, particularly when they are laughing. Your previous artist did some of the best emotional responses of any of your past issues. This one just doesn't hit the mark. It reminds me very much of the one MTJ put out a few years ago, Stargirl Silver. A comic with great visuals, but with very static facial expressions. Added to the fact that you did not tickle Agent Succubus. I'm all for anticipation, but I think you are entering Mulder and Scully romance territory here. Given the huge period of time between issue release dates, this is really something that should have been in this issue. I can only hope that it actually plays out in the next issue and that the delay betwen release dates will not be nearly as long. However, if you use the same artist, I'm not going to rush out and buy it. At least not if he uses the same flat emotional expresssions. I like your stuff (on the whole) and like to support it, but this one was the least appealing of your newest line (starting with issue seven, your best).

Alright I think I found the source of the downloading issues, and fortunately it's something that can be remedied quickly. In a nutshell, the server infrastructure is set up to optimally handle file sizes at 7mb. So I think I'm either going to offer a two part comic (with each being about 8mb), or give folks the option of buying a lower resolution comic or the higher res, 2 parter.

Needs work

Now that I've come off the tickle high, a more in-depth review...

First off, I like the huge page format. The bulk of the other tickle comics on the market (with Bandito's Bounce Chix and Scavenger's work being notable exceptons) have small page formats that, if laid sideways, don't even begin to fill the screen. I won't even go on about those ridiculous and badly-done half-pages put out by Tomato Dragon and others. Talk about a rip-off.

Overall, I was pleased with the artwork, especially the colours and lighting which were soft, warm, and inviting. The artist does have to work on his facial expressions and anatomy, however. Not huge mistakes across the board, but enough for a trained eye to notice.

While the tickle action was nice, the artist could have done more work with the hands to really show that the twins were tickling. On a personal note, I'm not fond of gag balls (too harsh for me) but I know others will like it. I prefer lots of laughter on my tickle pages.

The implied sexual air was nice, but could have been much better. You have all these gorgeous scantily-clad women, one of whom is stripped naked and tickled out of her mind, and all we read is "oh, the cruelty, how can she endure our torture." And what's this about "the horror"? What horror? This is sexual-tickle-torture, not tentacled monsters from hell eating people...

Further, I honestly can't see Katie getting worked over by the twins like she is and not orgasming, repeatedly. We've discussed this in the past, but I'm very frustrated with the lack of open sexuality in tickle comics. These are, after all, FETISH comics. As in sexual fetish. Sexual. Yet throughout most of the tickle comics on the market, all these "naughty vixens" seem quite chaste, if not virginal. Which is utterly ridiculous (again, the Chix and Scavenger (sometimes) break this mould).

I know you've mentioned not wanting to fall into a rut, but you have. After 70 pages of The Agencies (I'm counting from the start of Issue 7) there hasn't been one orgasm, one Ler openly lusting after and "having" her Lee, not one ticklee breaking and begging for her tickles, not one woman loving what's happening to her, not one truly erotic and sexual scene. Only in the very last panel of Ruthless does the Lee say "please don't stop." And then of course we have to wait *again* for the next issue.

I also agree with TheQuillFeather in that after all this anticipation, and a year-plus of waiting, Succubus is not tickled even a bit. The panels spent on the Magistrate should have been used for Succubus, at the end of the book. I really hope Succubus gets tickled like nobody's business next issue, and that that issue is released ASAP. Anticipation is good, but pushed too far it become frustration, and people walk away. Look at Lost. Their ratings nose-dived because viewers got fed up with all the mystery BS, and gave up on the show. Same for the Mulder/Scully angle, and the Mac/Harm romance in JAG. They all pushed too far.

And with what's been revealed about Succubus' personality, not to mention her looks, powers, etc, it would seem only appropriate and logical that the sexual content gets upped greatly. I can easily see the twins subtly coming under Succubus' power, getting seduced, and their tickle "torture" becoming a tickle three-way of pleasure with Succubus in tickle bliss. The next issue of Ruthless I also hope goes into full-on sexuality as well. And (my personal taste again) in a softer, more condusive setting. Cold, hard steel and concrete, to me, does not seem like a good place for ticklegasms.

There is nothing "dark" about sex. It's the most natural thing in the world. Tickling is just one wonderful, kinky aspect of it, and I think tickle comics should bask in the sexual; not hide, disguise or even be embarrassed by it. The Bounce Chix are existing proof of this (BC #3 will blow people's minds, trust me).

I have done my best to be supportive, and my criticisms are meant to improve, not bash.

Respectfully yours 🙂

The downloading problem has a stop-gap measure in place. As I mentioned above, I broke the comic into two parts, and each individually should be downloaded without much problem. It does mean you'll have to purchase both parts, but the cost to you will be the same.

I'm going to have a nice chat with our new payment provider, since a 7mb is pretty tiny in the grand scheme of things. And I'll work on my end to shrink down those art pages without losing too much of the quality, and see if I can't get them compressed to 7mb on my end, so you guys don't have to buy two files.

Sorry for those that stalled out on the purchase, I've manually fulfilled everyone's orders, so hopefully you all have your's by now. If not, PM me here or email me.

An unsolicited review of the newest Agencies

Olesklk:

Just got my hand on the Newest Agencies and I had to write in and give some feedback.

First off kudos to you guys for all the hard work processing the orders. After all the crap you went through to get the system up and running, and then the damn thing doesn't quite work. I personally appreciated you going in and processing the orders. Awesome service.

As far as the comic itself goes - I have to say that this issue is by far my favorite Agencies issue. I would highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys tickle comics. Here are some of the reasons:

1) You truly made this issue a 'tickle' comic. The tickle action is hot, plentiful, and cover to cover. I never felt like the tickling was added in as an after thought. And that MADE the comic for me.

2) Nice mix of action - the combo of foot tickling with upper-body was GREATLY appreciated. I felt like the twins were just trying to tickle anywhere they could to get the best reactions. Stellar job on that.

3) Nudity and sensuality - having some topless tickling, tongue tickling, and even seeing one of the Lee's aroused nipples pressing through her shirt really helped make the comic for me. Even though the Lee's couldn't react as much as I might expect - the implicit eroticism made this comic really work for me.

4) Generosity - The big pages, plenty of pages, and plenty of tickles make this comic a bargain. Your team spent TIME on this comic. And you gave folks like me a LOT for the money. Thanks for that.

5) Story and writing - Dave's influence was definitely felt through out the work (you rock my friend). The writing was hawt. End of story. And I have to disaggree with a few other comments. I love the anticipation. But I am a total tease when it comes to my own work too. I love the fact that we have to wait another issue to see S get her tickles. The one thing I would definitely say is now ya gotta live up to that anticipation. Don't be coy. Don't be shy. She should get tickled from top to bottom. Seriously give her the royal treatment ^^

My only ctitiques at all is that I thought the anatomy was a bit off in some of the panels. But my anatomy is often still off. I think this team of artists will improve the more they work within this genre. I look forward to seeing what they come up with next. I also could have seen the gag taken out maybe halfway through the session, but that is simply a matter of personal preference. I know Dave adores his gags ^^

And personally I like more sexuality and eroticism in my comics, but that is like asking George Lucas to change the Jedi to half naked chicks because it better suits my tastes. I respect your position, and honestly - am just happy you are contributing to the community.

Anyway - sorry for the loooooong comment - but I rarely write positive reviews, and I wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed this episode.

Best,

B

Thanks Bandito! That means a lot coming from you. And, to be honest, I wish to thank those with some critiques as well. It's only through feeling the pulse of the fanbase that any comic or storyline grows.

The issue of the facial expressions is understood and being "tweaked". Still, I think this was a damn good effort for an artist fresh out of the gate when it comes to fetish material. We're working very closely together on the upcoming Issue 12, and these specific ctritiques will not be fogotten. of course, you cannot please every single person, but we're doing our best to try. 😀

Also, and not to speak out of turn and make any specific promises, but it does look like 12 will be along much sooner than the gap between the last issues. The payment method is (more or less) ironed out, the site is going, the artist is at work, the story is strong and the one thing everybody's been asking for looks like a go. (No big spoiler...we can all see where this is going...). I will not say anything else other than the next two issues will redefine the Agencies, in my humble opinion.

I would like to thank Oblesklk for asking me to be a part of this wonderful journey. I can honestly say I've had more fun (and occasional grief!) working on the "new" Agencies than anything else I've had a hand in, including my own works. I'm glad my influence has worked well in this, and I'm very happy to see a fine balance between writer, artist and creative cons---umm...device design---ummm....well, whatever the hell my official title is. 😀

I'm very proud of this issue and am really psyched about the next two.

Thanks again,
Dave2112 :triangle:

Just a quick note that the site has been changed yet again, but hopefully this will be the final time.

I found a way to compress the files without losing noticable quality and maintain the resolution. So now the zip rests just under 7mb (the server's soft cap), and in one file. The two parter stuff was just a stop-gap measure, this will be the permanent solution, since it's the easiest for you guys to buy.

Thanks for your support, those that have purchased, emailed, or posted!

I'm just glad I got my nice, big, unspoiled high-rez pages when I did 🙂

Actually the differences aren't noticable at all. To me anyway 🙂 The pages are the same size, same hi quality artwork. The quality settings were set to the max originally for proofing, and don't need to be when sold. Case in point, I resubmitted the cover that was posted earlier in the thread. It's a third of the size of the original posting, but the quality seems the same to me. I should've checked the settings for compression, but didn't occur to me because we've never had a file size issue before.

My goodness, beautiful! Certainly a master with the artwork! I'd love to see this one.

Simply amazing! This issue was the first Agencies comic I've ever gotten and it will definetly not be the last

Damn i wish i had a credit card :/

I don't know ( silly me ) who draws the characters, but it's amazing. Also would like to know which evil mind created the two sisters ? They seem to like much what they're doing 🙂

Thanks!

As others noted above, the artwork still has some work. But we're working on that, one panel at a time, one page at a time. I am glad you enjoy it though 🙂

Fantastic, I'd definitely start with Issue Seven, since that's when the storyline officially begins.

The guy in charge of the art team this time around is named Oren, and yes we're pleased with the work so far. Definitely a lot of potential there.

I've created all the characters in The Agencies universe (except for Agent Peepers from Issue #1, that issue was penned by TeeHeeLawrence, so the credit for her belongs to him). The dichotomy in the twins is something we'll be exploring...soon. I wanted to write stories involving twins that see tickling as very different. One as a tortorous, cold activity, the other a warming, sensuous, very erotic method of touch. These two avenues will be explored soon, so I'm glad to hear you like them so far.

I wanted to thank everyone again for their input on this issue, whether given publicly or privately.

We've taken the last four months or so to complete the production cycle for Issue 12, and I'll be posting the production preview probably tomorrow.

The input we've received from #11 was invaluable. I feel we have a good product, and there's a host a ways we can improve it to turn it into a truly great product.

Thankfully we won't have a silly administrative issue (payment processing) hosing up the release this time around. It's been tested to death since #11, and is performing solidly.
