Ok, Ok I know I rarely make appearances here any more. Of course what I am about to propose may seem crazy enough that it might end up in the humor forum anyway. I have thought about it for a long time and felt compelled to say something. What I am about to say goes beyond politics or cultural or religious differences. It affects us all. Every living thing.
The universe is a violent place and life is a most fragile thing. It only exists because of the endless possibilities in the cosmos (and some like me believe with a little help from the big guy upstairs) and perhaps for one other reason as well. Intelligent life I feel has the responsibility to protect all life and to preserve it. It is the other way I think life manages to survive this violent universe. So far we have not done such a good job in that regard. Which brings me to my ideal.
My website is for the most part fun, but there are serious parts. Like portions of the Kurchatovium Wuv Network. I am proposing yet another. The Hypergenesis Project. Its aim is to protect humanity and all life on earth from the this violent universe.
What do I mean you ask? An asteroid or comet will almost certainly hit this planet at some point in time. It will happen, its only a matter of when. An obect of only a mile or a mile and a half could literally wipe all life all the planet. We are doing almost nothing to stop this. There is currently an asteroid projected to make a close pass to us in 90 years. Too early to tell I think if it will collide but I feel we should be prepared. In addition the poles of the earth are reversing this will result in unstable weather patterns and could reak much destruction across the planet. This may take only another 100 years or so to develop. These are events that affect all life on the planet and are more important than are petty differences.
So what is The Hypergenesis Project? To be honest I am not quite certain yet. It will be I believe a group of people who will lobby politicians and others to help get stuff done. To get funding for projects that will protect this planet. Eventually it would also get us ready to leave the planet when the sun is itself unstable but that is a goal much further down the line. However I feel by the 31st century we should have colonies elsewhere in the universe to help save all the life on this planet. Perhaps this is sheer insanity but I am serious about it. There is nothing more powerful than an ideal and I feel the time for this ideal has come. It is time for us to be what we should have been long ago namely guardians of the all the life on this precious little world. Please let me know what you think. All ideals are welcome.
