Since my parents bought it in 1983, it is true that the selling price was higher than what they paid back then. But compared to what it would have sold for in, say, 2006, I can only say :xlime:

True. Real Estate has really dropped in CA as well. 🙁 At least you made a profit. Thats the way to look at it.

Quite true. 😀 Also a empty house here in LA would more then likely start to fill up with Vagrants. It can be a real porblem for those that own propery that dont rent out. 🙁

Ugh, that sounds awful. At least no vagrants moved in nor was it vandalized while empty. 😀 😛

Yes it can be quite a problem. Gangs can sometimes move in as well in poorer neghborhoods if the property is unattended for long periods. 🙁
