That is a great idea. 😀 You might also invest in a USB Flash Drive. You can probably find a 1-4 gb one for 10 bucks or less. That is more then enough storage for all the stories you will ever write 😀

Yes, considering that my longest work was only 964KB, less than 1MB, I think that such a flash drive would last me over 100 years.

Emailing something to yourself is a quick and easy way to avoid disaster. External storage in your own home will be destroyed along with your computer in case of fire or flood.

True it works nicely for text files.

There are places like carbonite.com that back stuff up for 55 dollars a year but I have heard problems with them.

The only bad thing I have heard it only automatically backs up media files. Not data. That must be done manually. So if you expect a mirror copy of your hard drive to be there on its own you will be sadly mistaken.

After seeing one of my works reach 20,000 words, I can't go to sleep without emailing it to myself for safekeeping. 😀 😛

Definitely. Due to the fact that I only write short stories, it's not a huge deal for me, but I could only imagine how much that would suck.

20,000 words is a lot. I lost about a 25 page document I did on th eother laptop. Not happy about that at all. 🙁
