The myth is that Florida is this great place to live.
In reality, many ex-cons move down there to live off the grid.
There is the night club scene, yes, and the glamorous life at night in the right areas.
But, I'd liken it to Las Vegas. On the Vegas strip, it's all lit up and pretty. But around the corner, there are a lot of unfortunate people.
