Yea not sure which is better in NYC especially with a storm putting out so much rain. Here in LA underground would be nicer since we get a lot more winds.

Allegedly the underground power lines are in water proof sheathes, but they've been buried for a long while and rats may have gnawed away at the sheathing. 😱

Water proof is nice. However like you said rats will eat their way through just about anything. Even concrete !!!! 😱

Very true. And there are definitely rats underground here, mostly ratus norwegicus. 😱

We get rats too. They love nesting in the dead palm leaves of those lovely palm trees we have in So Cal. 😱 Not sure what species they iz. 😛

I've never seen a rat on my visits to L.A. but I see them here on the subway tracks all the time. 😱

The worst hit area of NYC during the storm was Breezy Point, Queens. A fire started there and the fire trucks couldn't get close to it due to flooding. The whole neighborhood burned to the ground, over 80 buildings destroyed by fire. 🙁 🙁

The member of congress in whose district Breezy Point lies was on TV this morning. His own house was among those burned. He just said he was thankful that his family was safe and that we must work together to rebuild all that was damaged during the storm.
