The Self Referential Thread

I still have intermitant problems with the hard drive. I've backed everything up so data won't be lost, but it's unreliable for now. 🙁
Thinking about getting a new one. 😀 😛

Sorry my friend. I have to replace my art computer too I think I can get it too work intermittently but its not reliable anymore. 🙁

Did you check out the website? Gibson Research 😀

😀 😀 😛

Yes, thank you, I have bookmarked it. 😀 😛

My problem now would not be data recovery, when the hard drive came back to life on Tuesday I extrernally saved everything that I might want. My problem now is that I can't be sure when I'll see "Windows is shutting down to avoid damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this error messesage, ..."

Can you make a ghost image of the drive using something like Norton Ghost or Acronic True Image? 😀 😀 😛 Then you coud just put in a new hard drive and restore the ghost image onto the new hard drive and be up and running in a few minutes 😀

I can't do that myself, I have no idea how to change a hard drive.
Maybe I could have that done, and it would be cheaper than a new computer. 😀 😛

Yes I think here in LA before I learned how to do it myself it ran about 65 dollars to change a hard drive. Not sure how much they charge in New York. 😀 😀 😛

Yea ask around. That price was the labor charge for changing out the drives. It did not include the price for the drive itself. Depending on what you want you can get a 80 G drive for like 60 bucks if you shop around. 😀 😀 😛

Not quite yet. We have found the stairs and disabled the traps to those stairs. 😀 😀 😛

*Follows close behind* I need to pull my weight around here, that I do. 😀

If you do buy the drive yourself, which may be cheaper, try http://www.newegg.com I use them for all my component needs.

Thanks, HDS. Tomorrow is the day I will try to take care of getting the new hard drive. I currently have 40GB. Should I upgrade as I get a new one. 😀 😛

Hmmmm level 12 is definitely some kind of Hyperdimensional Quantum Lab. A very advanced one too from what I can tell so far. 😀 😀 😛

(Welcome HDS. Newegg is indeed excellent. I also use tigerdirect from time to time. 😀 )
