Venice used to be quite scruffy, but this year when I went there it seems to have been gentrified.

Yes Venice has improved over what it was. Hollywood even got a much needed face lift awhile back. Too many rundown theaters and beat up old stores. 😀 😀 😛
 
I didn't visit Hollywood this summer, but I'm glad to hear that it's been fixed up some. 😀 😛

Well part of that was necessity because of the Red Line that was built right under Hollywood Blvd that collpased. A lot of businesses were destroyed and could not rebuild. One especially that was sad to lose was Snow White's a quaint little coffee shop diner that had a rather eccentric lady as the owner. Even though she was a bit odd she was always most charming and the food was quite good. Me and my father ate their a lot. Was sorry when it was bought out by a big company that ruined the whole atmosphere of the place.🙁

Well thats quite true as well. 😀 The main problem here though was that they were using substandard building materials which is what led to the collapse. :sowrong:

Ironically its called the MTA here as well and is quite corrupt as well. Its supposedly a private business but its so closely tied to the city goverment that it hardly qualifies as an independent business. 🙁

There's no pretense here that the MTA is private, its board members are appointed by the Governor. It is used for patronage and run by corrupt incompetents. :sowrong:
