The Self Referential Thread

Are there many dial up companies left? I know Earthlink and AOL were big dial up companies I guess Net Zero is still around 😀 😛

My first dial up provider was through something called park n view It was at truck stops There was a yellow square in the parking areas where you could hook up a phone and cable line They even had a special 1-800 # you could use to connect if you weren't at a park and view location

Cost extra of course 🙁

In the summer of 2002,they started to rebuild the connection areas It was a pain trying to find a truck stop that you could connect on at times 😀 😛

It was a pain in the !@# 😛

Then WiFi came along But each truck stop chain had their own version Plus I couldn't use it at home I had gotten AOL back in 2002 sometime I had that until 2006 That year I consolidated and started using the Sprint version It's cheaper than having 3 ISP 😀 😛

Wow. Sounds like a real mess. :wowzer:

I still can remember back to the pre-internet days of the BBS's. You call someones number up and hook up to their computer to download games, piictures and to chat. 😀 😀 😛
