A little after midnight. There was a 15 minute delay in the fourth inning when an umpire, injured by a foul ball, was being treated.

It just looked like he was badly bruised around the neck, jaw, and collarbone by the foul. Another umpire had to take over behind home plate and some of the delay was for this guy to get and put on his chest protector and mask.

It was a sharply hit foul, probably over 100 mph. It came right off the bat and hit him just in the gap between his chest protector and his mask. Poor S.O.B.

Fortunately they start with a 6-man umpiring crew in post season games, not the usual 4-man crew, so they still had five working umpires. 😀 😛
