It stands for Color Rendering Index and refers to the ability of a light source to reproduce all the colors of the visible spectrum equally well.

So a sodium lamp that really only makes yellow light has a CRI=0 cause anything that isnt yellow look black pretty much under that light.

Sunlight has a CRI=100 cause it shows all colors equally well.

You are most welcome.

Yes that is correct. 🙂 CFLs CRI range about 50-60. Energy Star rated ones have a CRI of about 80. There are some new ones that have CRIs around 90 but they are a bit pricey.
