The Self Referential Thread

You are welcome my friend, and thanks. :ty:

I was able to get to a military vehicle museum today. :happyhop:

😀 😛

You are most welcome 🙂

Cool. Those are always neat. I once went to Point Magu Airforce Base. They had lots of fighter jets on display. Totally AWESOME. 😀 😛

May I ask how long ago you and your cousin visited that place? The name of the base doesn't ring a bell. 😀 😛

Was about 20 years ago. LOL They may have closed the airbase. They were keen on doing that here awhile back. :sowrong:

😀 😛

I remember George AFB in Victorville, and Norton AFB being shut down. Then March AFB went from an active duty base to being a reserve base.

The Long Beach Shipyard was shut down too. It was one of the few bases in the US operating at a profit. Why would you shut down a base making money? One of the many reasons I hate Boxer and Feinstein. :disgust:

There was a lot of Navy bases at one time out there. I wonder if closing all those bases out there messed up the state's economy. 🙁

Certainly did not help any. Many places also catered to the soldiers and workers at those bases. So when the bases shut down so did a lot of other businesses. :sowrong:

A lot of people do not understand how the military helps the local economies. The comic book shop owners in San Bernardino tried to get the base closer
commission to keep Norton AFB open. No success. 🙁

Exactly. There is a wise old Japanese saying that goes: "One can not throw a pebble into a pond and not make waves"

In other words actions always have consequences. Something those on the far left refuse to see.

A very^9999999999999999999999999999 wise saying. 😉

Plus it is ok to lay off GI's n but not civilian govt. workers.
😀 😛

Thats actually a very^99999999999 good point. All those left leaning pro union people have no qualms about laying off tons of people in the military. Ironically its the one government job where those in it more then earn their pay and one of the few I think deserves a pay increase.

What gets me is how some union members are for communism. But yet, there are no unions in a communist countries.

Yea it is ironic. Same sort of way most communist countries say People's this or that even though in communism people dont really own anything it all belongs to the government.

But it belongs to the govt. so it can be given to the people. 😛
