Bravo Ann! You are right it isn't said enough how good the mods are, and how well the forum is being run!!!! I was talking on the phone to someone else from the forum, and we were saying how wonderful this place is! We can all share ideas and make new friends...that's what makes it great!!! Sure, it's got it's problems, there will be bad seeds everywhere, but that's life!!! Nothing is perfect!!!!

I have to say that I applaud this move...

I have been posting for only a short time after lurking for a longer time, and if I may, would like to share an observation.
When I first checked in, I was amazed and thankful for the vast content, open discussion, and easy atmosphere. I would almost swear I could smell incense and hear new age (actually, that may have happened). As I became more comfortable with myself, having lurked in real life, which sucks, I reached out with post or two and got a nice response. So I felt welcome in an atmosphere where most of the people already knew each other. Although there will be friendships and/or relationships I may never have the pleasure of knowing simply due to trysts, of which I hope do to be a part, there still was the satisfaction of knowing there was a place, a great place to talk and share this fantastic thing of ours.
And lately, there is this testiness. An uneasiness. Not at all the foundation of the forum, I believe. Certainly not at the foundation of our fun fetish. I understand that we all have lives and we all have our opinions, and I hope that we all can hold off from judging someone solely on their questions or their answers.
That's all for now. There's more in my mind, but I'll just send this on and I hope for some feedback. Thanks for listening.

OK time to get proactive here. I've been bitching about all the nastiness going on here lately and how it isn't being effectively dealt with. (The mods can only do so much) So, rather than just bitch, I'm inviting others to join me in doing something positive. Here's my plan...

For every nasty post we see, I challenge you (and myself) to turn around and post something nice about someone....even the person being nasty. Rather than responding in kind to the nastiness, let's overwhelm it with positives. Let's not let it push us away.

So, what do you think? Care to join me?

I've noticed that the more I post (excluding silly jokes and similar) the more difficult is to avoid to sound judgemental and to avoid useless confrontation, etc. Most of the times I just don't follow up the particular thread anymore...

Man, this thread really kind of opened my eyes, I mean, like Viper (and maybe towards Viper) I've also contributed to, probably even started, a lot of the negativity.

I guess the deal with me is that I am attracted to the controversial subjects, which usually are the source of some pretty heated debates, and I like to post my opinion, but in doing so I kind of disregard the fact that people may disagree and even in some cases be nasty. It's not easy to fight the urge to say something nasty back. In my case that means being sarcastic and arrogant and a million other things.

Also, during the time I "blew up" I was going through a lot of stressful stuff, which shouldn't be an excuse for my behavior, but it did contribute to my being irritable.

Anyway, all in all I guess this is my version of an apology and in my attempt to get on the right track...

Viper, I really like your signature pic. I don't know how you took it, or if someone else did, but it looks like one of those pictures that are already in the frame when you purchase it. I mean that in a good way.

I read A LOT of what goes on, I dont post as often as Id like to...but honestly your one of the most honest people on here and to me you should be commended for it. I know I dont think Ive ever spoken directly to or about you before, but I had to this once...(and depending on your reaction I might/might not do it again )
Id rather someone be honest and a little on the harsh side sometimes than being sweetie face one minute and then turn around and bad mouth the next.
You call it like it is, you are who you are and you make no excuses for it.
We all can have a bad day and everyone should understand that and not expect everyone to be "Super sweet" everytime they park their keister in front of a keyboard.
I have a suggestion for ya TGiggle...if you feel the need to vent about a subject in a thread or a post...type it, and then send it to me in a PM or something.
I'll read it, respond if needed, and if not at least you know there is someone that knows where your comming from.

Everyone else...or anyone else...feel free to use me a venting board. I dont mind and I can always seperate a heated rant from someone's entire personality.

Wow!

What a wonderful set of replies to get home to! You guys are great! And anyone else who may have simply chosen not to respond in writing, if you choose to keep a positive attitude and not join in any negativity, then I applaud you as well.

This forum, for so many of us, has become a second family. There've been many really great friendships formed...even bonds of marriage. As with everything, it's what we make of it. If a simple post like the one that started this thread can bring such great response, maybe we should have a monthly "Keep Your Chin Up" pep rally? OK, Maybe not. But, an occassional reminder to one another that the good will always outlive the bad is always a good thing.

I'm on my way to the second half of our mother's day weekend of celebrating with family. But, I'll respond more later. Thanks, all! I knew we could count on you!
