Tickling/Religion/Guilt & Evil...

you have to admit though dvnc, we were dealing with types who were clearly not respecting us in return for our respect. The argument was in fact about respect. You and I were saying that we respect the way they feel, but asking them to respect the way others feel, (I actually felt the same way as them, that i find tickling sexual) I just think that whenever emotion flows on this board, it gets removed. When I read this thread, it looks interesting, but there is no HEART!! I reckon if I had been around at the time, the whole thing would have been brought to an unsavoury end, because I just cant keep my mouth shut when I get talking about something. I get too excited and let "shit fly".
I dunno if you saw the final post i put in the other thread, but it was written entirely spontaneously, and although it could have been insulting, i thought that it was the best way to explain how the arrogance of some people can be harmful to others.
Another thing is, for everyone who read's this' benifit: What I say will invariably be more light hearted than it looks. I gather my sense of humor can sometimes look nothing less than savage when written down. It's hard to get the jist of what people are saying when they type.

red, part 2?

We try to read the text and not inflect emotion as Mods. It's all we have to go on, especially until a poster has enough threads in that you begin to discern their particular style. Your countryman, red indian, has a similar sense of humor running throughout his posting history. Perhaps it's something in the fog..😉? Q

The thing about respect is that it is commanded, not demanded. I don't expect to find respect for my opinions these days. It's nice to see, but I don't see it more then I do. What I can do, is continue to practice the behavior that I wish I received and hope for the best. When it doesn't happen I shrug and move on. More to do and see to worry over it.

Myriads

Well put Myr. I've seen the person in question give you flak too, and was impressed with how passively you managed to deal with it. I did actually state that i would ignore sed people from now on, but i guess even that was deemed offensive.
I was a little annoyed that Q deleted the argument, as although he was right in saying that it had gone in an unsavoury direction, dvnc was involved directly in it, and would have stopped it had it gone sour. The problem as I see it is that without a few raw emotions flowing, the board is a little dull. I realise it's hard if not impossible to achieve this balance though, so just moderate away.

oh yea, i fixed my email thing

It's about...

17 pages long, and it's from pre 9-11. It started when the founder of the original TMF came back after having a religous awakening. He now thought he had created a thing of evil by bringing the Forum into existence. Obviously the discussions ranged far and wide and covered quite a few aspects of tickling as it relates to religion and guilt, as well as some of our personal views on a variety of other subject matter. Some of the people in it weren't Mods when it began, others that are NOT currently Mods were back then...it's confusing to us and we lived through it. I'd suggest if you're going to dare try to make your way into it, have a fresh cup of coffee and an hour to spare....Q

I see, thanks for the info, Q.

One of the reasons I am an atheist (I don't believe in God, but I COULD be wrong) is that I think religion can make you feel guilty about things you shouldn't feel guilty about. There is nothing evil about tickling unless it is used as a form of abuse or torture--yes, I know we love stories about this, but I'm talking about REAL LIFE here! As for guilt, as long as you're not hurting yourself or the person you're tickling, what is there to be guilty about? Some of you might think that because I'm an atheist, I don't have any morals, but I do! If someone tells you to stop tickling him or her, but you do it anyway, and this happens repeatedly, that's wrong. Even if you are religious, or believe in God, you can still enjoy tickling without feeling guilty or thinking it is evil. I know there are TMF members who disagree with me on religion and/or God, so I know this for a fact. When you face a moral dilemma, I implore you to use your knowledge, logic, common sense, and instincts to guide you, not some holy book or a bunch of figures in robes telling you what to do. I only hope whoever founded the TMF is at peace with himself! Incidentally, all this is just my opinion, so I COULD be wrong (I love saying that)! Thank god, er, goodness I'm an atheist. 🙂

I am jealous of anyone who can read more than fifty-two thousand words in one hour.

Hmmm, I wonder if Evelyn Woods was a tickling enthusiast.

I remember readin' this thread when I first started hangin' around this place. I knew some of the folks, but not enough of 'em to get into that level of conversation at the time. Was just not my cuppa tea as a newbie. Lord help ya now if someone asks my opinion. 😛 *hehehe*

Having just re-read the entire thing....:wow: I need a nap!

Q, enjoyed your comments throughout. I'm not butterin' ya up there darlin'. (I have better ways to do that 😉 )I really did enjoy 'em! I differ, but I dig! Your words seemed to stick with me more than the others...not really sure why. Hmmm??

Would be nice to see this thing run wild with all the new bodies!

Joby....firguring her voice on the subject.

My Voice...

Likely because I have strong feelings on the subject Jujubee. It's definitely one of my "hot buttons", and I'm sure that spilled into my text a bit. Plus, I wasn't a Mod then and could speak my mind freely. Hope you enjoyed your stroll down memory lane...I know I did yesterday when I reread this novelette! Btw, feel free to butter me up with some Southern Belle style any old time you care to, Ms Jo. 😉 Q

Good or bad?

LOL, last night I took the time to re-read the whole 'novel'. Quite thought-inspiring for everyone interested in that topic.

Reading my old posts, I found that my views haven't changed a bit since then. I wonder: is that good or bad, or does this just mean I'm getting old...? 😛

Old...you?

It means you've reached an age where you've drawn some conclusions that still seem logical to you at this time. Personally, every 10-15 years or so, I seem to go through some sort of gradual process whereby some views shift...although my religous ones are holding firm at this time. Q

I started in on this one, Q, and then wondered...are you trying to drive us all insane? 😱

Plenty of good philosophy (and even some science) here, though. Many wise people wander the halls of the TMF.

Maybe us ticklers are just smarter than everyone else????

Insanity...

This monster grew like a weed in the sun Daumantas....but it was a strange time in the evolution of the TMF. We were shaking off Scotts "return" and dealing with his blasts at us as evil sinning tickling predators, the product of his warped dream prior to his seeing the light, so to speak. Guess it would all hang together if his (Scotts) website posts were in there, but at the time it seemed important to separate ourselves from the "Exiled Creator" (imo) and refute his assertation that the TMF was an abomination against God and "goodness" in general. Of course, then 9-11 bulldozed into all our lives in the middle of the thread, and things took an intense turn for a while. This was the first time I intentionally set out to provide input with a purpose, and marked the end of my being a lurking wisecracking PITA...lol..I think. It's odd to see the references to now established members in there as being sort of out of control, when these days they are some of the staunchest and most reliable people in the Forum. Gives us hope for the current crop, hmmm? 🙂 Q

Q!!!!!! You're BRILLIANT!!!! You sweet thang!~!!!

Do you realize your summation of this thread would make one hell of a story!?!?

The Inspiration.
The Creation.
The Rejection.
The Return.
The Attack.
The Renewal of Purpose.
The New Breed.
The Rise of the Culture...Once Again.

I'm going to be famous one day. I'll owe it all to this thread. *hehehe* For that, I will reward you! 😉 Your wish is my command. We can practice your award now if it involves your wigglin' fingers! :wow:

Joby

Yes!!!

Alrighty then...whatever I did, as long as it ends with you helpless under my wiggling fingers, must be "right"...! Feel free to keep the movie rights and any sequels as well, Ms Jo, I'm in a good mood today! Looking forward to your literary application of a TMF thread into the mainstream of the vanilla world...ought to be fun! Q

Q - I actually did vaguely remember this thread, though I think I bailed on it when MadKalnod said the Nylon Dungeon series was misogynistic - didn't want to get into an argument. I definitely remember Scott's attacks, and how they made me feel guilty, and how I then wondered what business he had making anyone else feel guilty about tickling or anything else (sinning against God and sinning against Scott are two different things). Can't add much more that hasn't already been said (GOD KNOWS, it's been SAID...)

Anyway, you're right: how weird it is that guys like you and me are now among the "stable" people around here. Yet, somehow, the Forum works. Like I said, us ticklers are smarter than everyone else - if we were running society, there'd be no more war or famine or poverty...🙂

Tk Society...

Personally, I always thought the Nylon Dungeon was the ultimate and logical extension of most ticklers, of the m/f persusasion at least. Conceptually, it's as nearly perfct a literary invention (or is it an invention, hmmm?) as I've ever seen. MadK was merely stating that the "reality" of such an institution would be offensive, and I believe I was reluctantly forced to agree with that assertion. BUT, I'd have to visit it ( a few hundred times>>gotta be thorough..hehe)before I could condemn it, wouldn't I? If we could be damned to whatever Hells exist for our fantasies, I'm suuure it's going to be a crowded room. Your Nylon Dungeon has always been a benchmark in the genre as far as I'm concerned. Q

what an amazing thread

it has spanned the calander, and the gamot of ideas.
i know many are now groaning that i've showed up, oh well...

i should have taken notes as i read this thread, cause almost all of the posts brought an idea to my mind, only to be replaced on the next page of replies, by other thoughts.

as to evil; people are evil, and what they do is evil.
people like hitler, stalin, osam bin-laden, pol pot, and abortion doctors, and the guy in california who killed the little van dam girl.

i am against organized religion, for the same reasons as the other.
i find religion to be a scam to bilk money from people, through the use of fear, and threats. religion further is a form of evil, in the way it has been used through history. and lastly as was said by karl marx "religion is the opiate of the masses".

i was raised in both the hebrew faith, and the luthern faith (missouri synod). one thing i have noted, in most christian faiths the preists, ministers ect. are only that, preists, ministers etc.. this is not the case in the hebrew faith. the rabi has a regular job.
also in the christian faiths the leaders are concidered higher than the paritioners. they are "men of god" and inbued with a higher consciencness. in the hebrew faith this is not the case. the rabi is a teacher (that's what the term rabi means; teacher). they are there to lead in prayer, and to teach the religious rules, but are not deified.

all in all i don't care for oganized religion.

i don't believe in the biblical idea of creation, nor do i believe in the darwin theory. i won't go into what i believe, as you'll all think me nutz (like half of you don't already, lol). i think there is a god, but he breaths life into us, and gives us a choice, or free will as to how we live. i don't believe in heaven or hell, again those are carrots, and sticks used to keep the unwashed masses in line. i do believe in re-incarnation. and i believe in ghosts.

tickling is not evil. can it be perverted to evil? yes. but that again takes a human to make it so.

guilt is another tool used to keep us all in line. cultures that have made an art form of this are the jews, the italians, and modern fringe christian religions. sorry but to make some one feel guilty is not right, unless it's because that person did something wrong first.

people who play their car radios too loud, should have their drivers lic. taken away. strel. is right, things have become way to permissive in todays society. someone else said there will be a pendulum effect the other way. it can't come too soon for me!

early on in this thread someone said that nothing good comes from acting out of fear. wrong! you've failed to take into account the actions of soldiers on the battlefield. saving their buddies, or rushing the enemy because he is affraid he will die if he just sits there. or even the fear of a parent in protecting their children.

this is an incredible thread. i have enjoyed reading it, and been astounded by the insite of many here. hal i agree with you completely on the issue of the scientologists.

i may add more later as my fuzzy head clears.

A majority...

Hi areenactor, and thanks for your comments on this "back from the dead" thread. I believe I was the one who warned of things going in cycles throughout history, but I personally fear how big a swing we may take this time. Given the advance of technology and the current ability we possess to gather and store information on individuals, I can envision a theocracy that could clamp down beyond belief on certain areas of our lives that we believe are "private". Should a repressive government be voted into power here in the US, the end result might not be all that most people would enjoy. The end of rap music, loud speakers, wanton littering, open drug use and general disrespect might not be worth the price paid in other areas of society. I personally wouldn't enjoy being told that a certain day or time is now restricted to "religous rites' and other activities will be considered criminal. Perhaps an extreme example, but if you extend the desire to limit personal choices and allow a small group to hold sway over these choices, you run grave risks of their attitudes not meshing with your own at many points. That being said, I'd still like to see a bit more civility in our younger generation, but that's been written about since the days of the Romans, and will likely be the lament of another 100 generations as well! 🙂 Q

Btw, Daumantas, it was actually WallStreet that took the worst beating in the thread...lol. Guess he was a wildchild back then!

Thanks for the kudos, Q! Good to be appreciated.

Matter of fact, I agree with YOU: the ND is something that definitely should exist ONLY in the realm of fantasy, not reality. I most definitely do not condone trying Nylon Dungeon behavior on one's own. (After all, would you really want to emulate the male characters in the stories, most of whom are either malevolent or creepy? The women, especially the characters like Gina who manage to remain at least a little bit defiant, are the real stars, or at least that's the way I see it.)

Anyway, compare the smarts here with your typical Internet forum, and I'm sure you'll agree, the Congress of TMF Members should run the world.😎

Congress, hell!

Since "con" is the opposite of "pro", then Congress is the opposite of... well, I'm sure you get the idea.

I'm holding out for the position of Grand Imperial Khan, myself.

Q...

i could only hope that society would come down on things like rudness, and loud music in cars, and rap altogether! litter is a condition of laziness, and self-centered. drugs, ha! i have the solution. death penalty for anyone caught selling. and 5 years on a prison farm for first offense, 10 years for second, and life for a third.
i don't see that happening though, our society is entirely too permissive. also i don't think you have to worry about an all pervassive goverment/religious co-op. our constitution won't permit these types of things. and who'd vote them in for a second term after they started ranting about such programs, and ideas?
society does have a pendulum affect, but it has never swung all the way back to even the place/time/values that it was at before the pervious swing started.
sleep content.

Um, rap?

I've stayed outta this thread, I thinks its awesome but whatever wanted to say was immediately said by someone else before I even found the reply button 🙂. Besides, I have only three beliefs: Love, Laughter and Chocolate, so I'm pretty neutral on most things here.

I will say two things:

A) I'd be kinda bent about a person receiving the death penalty for selling weed. Personally I'm for legalization, but that's another thread. I've always had issue with incarceration for non-violent offenders, I feel that they should be put to work doing chores to help our world-preferably sucky ones that would definitely be a punishment. I am SOOOO not a bleeding heart, but I like to see people being useful instead of rotting in an all-too-expensive cell. Have them clean toilets in the subway, pick up trash and clean graffiti, teach them the skills and then have them rebuild dying neighborhoods-hopefully the same ones where they were selling. That way they earn their keep, learn a trade, and aid society, instead of using my tax money for three hots and a cot.

B) If you 'come down' on rap, you better damn well 'come down' on hair bands, the 'new' country, and the other types of ear poison out there assaulting the senses...

Bella

PS I wonder what it would be like out there if nicotine were suddenly illegal...

Problems & Choices

Yup...making decisions on what should and shouldn't be heard/seen/written or said is a touchy, nigh impossible job! I'm sure there's people who feel strongly that rap music fills a basic need, or is poetic and profound. I'm equally sure many consider it "noise". Our parents hated our music, their parents hated our parents music, and so it goes, spiralling onwards, with the music itself having to get more shocking each generation. There will either be a swing back to something quieter, or we'll be seeing people with direct implants and holo glasses be-bopping down the street in the next generation!
Many feel that "weed" is a harmless pastime, akin to alcohol, others see it as a symptom of moral decay and the first step to harder drugs and a counterculture lifestyle. I'm not so sure we should be selling either booze or drugs, but apparently there's a need for them, and it is a part of human nature to crave these releases. Here's where we tie these comments BACK to the thread...lol. Religion and guilt play their roles in society and impact these areas constantly.
Anyway, rather than ramble, I'll let some others jump in and shoot a few holes in my leaky statements... Q

When music gets SO shocking that nothing else will shock people, only "quiet, soft" music will, perversely, have shock value. That's when we'll see the swing back that Q and arena and others are talking about - when you shock people with your concerto...

We're pretty close to that stage now. Witness the revival of interest in recent years in swing music, the Rat Pack era, etc.

Some things never go out of style - like a ride across America on a really comfortable luxury passenger train. (Right, Strel?)
