Time for the next round, dudes and dudettes. Even you dudes who wanna BE dudettes. Yer all welcome!

Anyhoo.....Round 5 was won by Led Zeppelin big time over Van Halen and Round 6 went to The Beatles over The Rolling Stones. Wins recorded.

So, now we're at Round 7. I know...you're gonna ask "Why the hell did you put these two together. Well, first, I was runnin' out of room n the bracket chart, so back the hell off....

Second, this is actually interesting coming on the heels of the Beatles/Stones vote. These two bands are behind only the Beatles and Stones, being #3 and #4 in consecutive gold and platinum albums and total album sales over thier respective careers. Other than that...not much ties these two together by musical style....leaving alone the fact that both bands' drummers remain tight to this day. everybody now...."Awwwwwwww

Rush vs. KISS

Vote on!

Well, this is a fuckin' no-brainer for me, eh folks? d'uhhhh.....geeIwonderwhichwayhe'sgonnagooooo?"

Rush has this hands-down. KISS was cool, brought some real theater to rock at the time, but come on. Alex Lifeson vs. Ace Freeley? Geddy Lee vs Gene Simmons? Neil Peart vs. Peter Criss?!?

Rush simply inspired every single progressive metal band that would come after they invented the sub-genre with 2112, influenced almost every drummer known to man, even those not in rock, and made odd- and multiple-time signatures actually listenable and accesible.

Metallica, Dream Theater, Savatage, Queensryche, Kings X, Fates Warning, Billy Sheehan, Stu Hamm, Voivod, Porcupine Tree, Phish...and about 8,347,922 others cite Rush as a major, if not THE major influence on thier music. Plus, they're the only band I can think of that's been "6 different bands" over the course of thier careers. Blues-rock, prog metal, straight prog, new wave rock, synth-based rock, grunge, and now into a sound only they can lay claim to.

'Nuff said. Rush, bitches. :triangle:

Kiss

were entertainers. Not musicians. They said it over and over again to the media.

I never found them entertaining. Not even slightly. Repulsive, irritating, swinelike and overdone, yes. Entertaining, not so much, although I often wondered if that body paint was flammable.

I've never heard anything Rush has done, but I'd only vote for KISS if the prize was a one-way ticket to Slovakia, where their tongues will be removed and they'll be forced to play polka forevermore. In midget nightclubs.

This is why I luves me sum Biskit.

Funny as a rubber crutch in a polio ward, my friend. 😀

KISS really made me smile back in '79 when they came out with the Disco-fied "I Was Made For Lovin' You" and I still love that song to this day, but that's not enough for me to give them my vote. Don't get me wrong... I love a lot of their other songs, too. But I went with Rush, despite the fact that I still cringe a little when I hear Geddy Lee's voice. Simply put, it's Rush's musicianship that has won my heart.

KISS to me was great, in that period. If these two bands were to come out now, RUSH would taken seriously...and KISS labeled as a perhaps 1 hit, or 1 album wonder.

RUSH gets my vote.

Well, let's see....

"2112" in the screen name...
Starman in the sig...
A blue Starman tattoo on my upper left arm...

See where I'm going with this? 😀

i cant even vote on this one, cause i like em both about the same..both not one of my faves but each have a nice equal handful of tunes i like.

Hmmm ...

Alright , let's see here.

KISS , & everything about KISS , is just plain ol' ridiculous to me. So a 'no' for them.

Rush is just an 'ok' band to me ( sorry Dave2112 ). I think their musical prowess is definitely respectful , but they've just never really done 'it' for me.

Still ... they beat KISS , so I guess they're getting a 'yes' vote from me.

On certain nights
When the angles are right
And the moon is a slender crescent

It's circle shows
In a ghostly glow
Of earthly luminescence

Earthshine
A beacon in the night
I can raise my eyes to
Earthshine
Earthshine
A jewel out of reach
Form a dream to rise to
Earthshine

also an ironic comment

This year Rush is playing summerfest
and on a diff stage earlier in the day, a rush cover band is playing
