I understand exactly what you are saying Buggy. If you want to lurk, then lurk. But if you post a picture then of course you are going to get some sort of a response.
Why do that if you want to remain anonymous??? 😕
I welcome people publicly when I can, but usually avoid PMing someone who's not a regular with a few posts that show that they actually HAVE a real interest in the forum.

I have sent pms to some new members who posted pictures,just something like hi i'm bugman,welcome to the forum etc.Never got one reply.I'm not complaning,i'm just curious about it.Has anyone else had a similar experience?Or have you gotten to know anybody this way?

I started to notice this a few years back. At first, it seemed like certain new members would start making a name for themselves in the community by making a few posts here and there, then decide to share their picture with everybody, and then promptly fall off the face of the earth.

It made me wonder if they recieved some type of threat or harrassment from others in PM's or something.

The ones that post thier pictures without having even one post count always makes me wonder. But not in the "betcha that's not them" way, but in the sense that they would do something that seemed so personal with no real ties to other members in the community...Of course, they could also be secretly cybering with another member on here and decided to let them (and I guess other members too) see what they looked like. I don't think this theory makes any sense, though. Why not just do it in PM's or E-Mails?
