Ok, last time we were discussing this, I had decided the where (both the shop and on my body) the when (July) and the who, but I hadn't decided what at that time. (I figured it's be something that incorporated feathers and that it had to be something meaningful that I'd love forever.

I sometimes read tarot cards for friends at parties (I've been fascinated by the supernatural all of my life) so I figured I'd use something like the Empress card, it's really pretty, I just have to choose from which deck I love the most and it is so HARD!

Any suggestions welcome, I am leaning towards the one featured on Pagan Tarot 2000 (I like "The Star" as well...)

XOXO

Have you...

considered The Wheel? Besides it's upfront tarot meaning, it works on a few levels for those of us with this fascination. You'd need to accessorize it a bit of course...lol

Q

Cool idea QJ! (Do you have a favorite deck?)

XOXO

Actually....

The Quest Deck...can't help it, I'm just a sci-fi kind of geek.

Tarot card readings? :sowrong: But maybe thats because i'm a Christian as to why i think its wrong. Most non Christians im sure wouldn't have a problem with it.

But anyways carry on

I like the idea of a tarot card tattoo, in general, Steph. It definitely sounds unique. I don't think I've ever heard of a tattoo done up like that before. Great idea! 😉

I agree with Lime...

The Tower card caught my attention immediately. 🙂

I also like the Star card, though; maybe that's the Libra in me (light...dark). :smilestar

Thank you sweet friends, LOVING the ideas...

And thanx Flat! (Well you know me, Miss Unique, they really broke the mold!! 😀 ) I know you'd expect nothing less from queen of the oddballs (LOL) Actually I can't wait, I promise to post a pic after it's all healed, ok?

XOXO

I like the look of those cards. Really great idea! I'm diggin' it. I think I agree with the Wheel as well though.

It's more symbolic as far as tarot in my thoughts, but then again, that might not be the symbol you're wanting to emphasize.

Imagine a wheel with feathers as the spokes~!

How big are you planning on this being on your body? That might make a difference in opinion. Just curious.

Hi Jo~

Well, a lot of my more daring bod mod friends call it "too trendy" but due my job, personal pref, etc., I've chosen to put my tattoo on my lower back. (I think it looks hot and you only see it if I want you to.) So, that being said, that area makes for a fairly large canvas. It's not going to be super humungous and cover half my back or anything too extreme but that's a spot where a small tat (like one you'd have on a hip bone) would just look disproportionate...

XOXO

I LIke Steph!

)This

Is the one I wanna get on my back. It's based on the tatoo( called Marque) of the heroine of th Jacquline Carey's Kushiel Trilogy( Incidentially the heroine is basically an S&M Submissive Extraordinary! 😀 )

I'd like( if I can stand the pain) to have it running from midback to hips/tailbone, but first I want to lose the weight I want to and tone up. One of my best friends( who;s gained and lost a LOT in her 29 yrs) told me that if you want a tat, to make resonably sure you are not gonna gain or lose a large amount of weight , or the colors will spread out or shrink..

Very cool Ghost!

I've got a few pounds to lose too, but what's cool about your lower back is it's not really a place prone to "getting fat" or sagging, so even in the old age, it should stay fairly put, like on Mimi's ankle. I've a friend w/a tat on her breast and all I can think when I see it is "Damn girl, what were you thinking?" (That thing is going to be down to her knees in 20 years!)😀

XOXO

Well steph, not knowing enough about Tarot readings I'm not sure if this idea is a good idea or not but I will throw it out for you to decide...

Why settle on one Tarot card? I would suggest that you give yourself a "Custom Tarot reading" tatoo with the Empress card, The wheel, the tower, and/or which ever other cards appeal to you or foretell of good luck/good fortune. You can "create your own destiny". The cards can slightly overlap but still be readable for those who can do tarot readings.

The entire tatoo could probably be done on the small of the back (larger that you originally planned) but still not outlandishly large.

I am sure that whatever you choose, it will look great. I, too, would love to see the finished work of art.

I love the idea! (Unfortunately, I'm a humongous baby and probably won't be able to handle that much pain!)😀

XOXO

One of the shift managers on the job has his entire back tatooed - he doesn't do it all at once. He might take a few months before he continues on the project. You could make yours a "work in progress" if you felt up to it. 😎

I'm not really up on tat's, and I'm not really big on them either, but if it is what other's like, that's fine for them. I just personally can't bring myself to put a car payment on my arm, but I have seen some nice one's, Steph. I saw one that was something like Egyptian hirogliphics (SP?) with those drawings like you see on pic's of ancient Egyptian architecture and such. It looked very stunning, even for one like me who isn't really into them. Does that sound intrigueing?

Steph the only thing i can say about getting a tattoo is get something that means something to you and make sure you are going to want to look at it for the rest of your life

O ya Jester, I've been putting a lot of thought into this! (Thank you though 😀 )It's why I'm picking what I've picked...

I like the idea a lot Faramir---my fave uncle took me to the King tut exhibit in LA when I was like 12 and now I'm studying Egyptian belly dance so...😀

XOXO

Well said, EvlJester. That is something that everybody should think about when they get a tatoo.

I had a friend who went into the military shortly after high school. He had his g/f's name tatooed on his shoulder along with a picture of a unicorn. I will use the name Stacy in place of her real name.

Shortly after he shipped off to Germany, she left him for somebody else. He ended up in a tatoo parlor editing the tatoo to now read Stacy's Bar and Grill.

The funny thing is that a few people claimed that they had bed there. His standard reply was, "I'm sure that you have been!"

The botom line, though, is that he is stuck with the tatoos unless he pays a lot of money to "remove" them. "Removal" only makes them harder to see but there are still there.

Oh ya, for sure...the dumbass 19 year old across the street had his bimbo girlfriend's name tatooed on his arm and she his. I'm like, "what are you two, idiots???" They'll be broken up w/in a year....
😀

XOXO
