Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

I'm adding two quests as we speak. Then I'll write up a list of quests. It'll be up to you to find out when they're available. Special note: the first boss whose feet you can tickle is available in a new quest. She's the only one of the five.

Edit: Okay, I am really happy with how this side boss came out. Very, very happy. Once I get the next enemy scripted, the game over screen made, and the Codex entry written, I'll be just about done. Completing all of the quests and defeating Dryad should put you at 800 exp, leaving just 100 left to get from grinding to reach level 3.

BETA V2.4: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A6GEKHVW

Holy shit this is a vast improvement. Two quests have been added, adding two new mini-bosses. The two new bosses and dryad have had post-battle torture scenes added, unique skills are introduced through Honey Bee, Mamono Codex is unmissable, there is an alternative to the Small Feather from the Old Man. You can reach level 4 with only fighting maybe 5 random battles, there are enough quests to have you at level 3 before fighting Lady Venus EASILY assuming you complete every quest.

There's even something added after Chapter 1, if you keep sleeping at the camp maybe you'll get to see a special scene...it's a doozy!

For the record, this version has nothing broken, I fixed everything as I went through. Typos...yeah there may be some but I think I caught most of them. All bosses are possible with all characters. I completed the beta with a Mage and didn't have to grind a single time (except for the collect 50 essence quest). I think just about everything about this is perfect. Please let me know if in my sleep deprived state I missed something. But I'm pretty sure nothing is amiss. (I've said this before and got owned so here's hoping).

START THIS VERSION FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. You will thank me, the leveling curve is much more friendly. As I said, you can reach level 4 with no grinding, only completing everything including Honey Bee and the Curse of Knismesis Village quest. This update contains the first class specific scenes as well. I think you'll enjoy just about everything I added. It even has the start of the future planned "Romance" sidequest (where you will be able to start a relationship with one of five-seven friendly Mamono). So please...enjoy but don't be afraid to say what sucks or what I missed.

Everything seems to be working fine. You're doing a fantastic job. It makes me feel kinda bad that you're working so tirelessly trying to make it error-free. =/

I played through it with a mage and didn't have any trouble.

Oh, one random, completely not important thing, it seems like the event icon stays above the wife quest guy's head. I dunno if maybe that has something to do with a future quest or not.

I completed both new quests and side bosses but there seems to be one more on the list that has a ??????. What is that?

Yes, there are 9 Mamono you can currently battle, but 10 have been scripted.

The 10th one doesn't show up until late-game, but you can see one of her two Game Over scenes if you get the special scene at the camp site.

@Lurker: Thanks for pointing that out. I forgot something when trying to fix it. It's working right now.

Ok then. So after this version, you'll start work on Chapter 2 then?

Also I found no bugs either.

Yup, I'll be starting on Chapter 2 immediately. It's still in the planning stages, but it will be at least twice the length of Chapter 1, with a handful of new sidequests added. I'm thinking it will have maybe 5-6 new Mamono? It will also introduce the next possible romantic partner.

Ok, so I've found what seems to be a bug in the "Mother Where Art Thou?" quest. I got the quest by talking to the blue haired milf, and went on and did it, then finally figured out that I had to take her to the crabby in the house with the dark green roof. I'm guessing you were supposed to talk to him to start the quest, and the star stays over his head after finishing the quest.

Also, is the "Helpless Fairy" quest supposed to be left as 'unfinished'? Because it stays with a red emblem next to it.

I'll look into it, I may have set the variable to the wrong value. For reference, did you have to find a fruit or did you have one on you when you accepted the quest?

I've fixed the star on the husband and the dialogue issues that will let you start that quest without talking to him first.

@ Bashiku: I appreciate the concern, but I've got a bit of an obsessive personality and once I have a project I literally can't rest until I've worked on it. Don't worry, I took a break over the weekend, so I'm back at the top of my game so to speak.

Yea i gotta agree with him no matter what choices I make during that scripted part I end up losing anyway.........just an fyi I guess lol

click ankles
then insutes
then Hands

Or wrists
Insult
then ankles.

It's easy, just think TIT (Tug, Insult, Tug). I've gone back and checked the coding, either way works. A note to people leveling up higher than the recommended level, bosses scale to be tougher as you level up higher. Power leveling may help you in the beginning, but it could come back to bite you in the end. There's a reason you can run from random battles 100% of the time, and its not just to keep your health up or save time.

I think I had two fruits.

Btw, just curious, but what is this "first class specific scene" you speak of?

OH EM GEE whats the seen whats the seen XD i r wana see it <,<

alright well everything seems fine now, though i kinda dislike the fact that you made all of the normal monsters, how do i put this... pansies? push overs? i duknow whatever it is they are super weak now, before i couldnt handle a giggle bunny easily till i was 6 now? i just look at their feet and the keel. and that was at lvl 3! one of my favorite parts of the original was the fact that the monsters would actually level up along with you so they would be harder and give more experience, im not seeing that here and im sleightly dissapointed.

i know you said that grinding isnt nessisarily a good thing here (which is kinda bad because then it forces the player to play your way rather then allows people to be over prepared) but one of your quests, heck two of your quests not only encourage grinding its almost a must at this point. it may change in the future but still. now im not the most grinding person out there but i do like to be prepared esspecially in a game where one loss loses the game i would rather be over prepared then evenly matched. if you make it so that being "overly prepared" is actually a bad thing it might and probably will turn off some players towards your game, do make it so monsters get stronger as you level but make it so that it is possible to be over prepared.

other then that everything is the same, i love the new bosses exept two things

one the oni is a total pushover, i went there fully prepared for a hard battle and she starts spouting out 5 damage i was saying "you've got to be kidding me" till she went down. i actually had to TRY to lose to her and it wasnt even easy because i had to downgrade my wepon and armor and go out of my way to not attack her, made even harder because the tkl magic now has a use XD

and i cant seem to lose to the harpie (srry forgot her name Y_Y) i mean i lose it tells me i am tickled to subbmission but theres no end i just go back to the map and i can move around (though i have 0 health)

lastly i love the fact that the tkl magic now has a use i feel like my charicter is so much better now because of it i also love the item the harpie gives you for tickling her. its definatly better then the small feather.

cant wait for more and WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO SEE THE SCENE IN THE CAMP FIRE! XD

Wtf level were you at with a mage only receiving 5 damage from the Oni? I intended for her to be fought at level 2, where she does an average of about 10 to 15 damage a hit. Hm...I agree, it's too easy but so many people were complaining I gave in I guess. Well...hrm...I can fix the overall pansiness of the enemies with a few simple tweaks that won't make it OHKO but where exactly should the line be drawn? I could make it so that the enemies will NEVER be easy if I wanted to. Just set it so that they level all the way up to 30, and receive skills that negate the added bonuses of your new armor at each third level.

Granted you mention enemies in Chapter 1 are pushovers at level 3...well level 3 is the "aimed" level for that chapter. The random Mamono were maxing at level 2 in the Beta posted. If there isn't an overwhelming "NO!" I'll update it so that all enemies (from Mamono to Chou Mamono) can level up to the next chapter's aimed level (meaning enemies in chapter 1 go up to 6). Or if someone really wants me to, I'll set it so enemies level up to 30 from the beginning. Just keep in mind...this IS the first actual part of the game. So the enemies won't be extremely uber tough.

Would that be more interesting? I want to know which way the playerbase would prefer. Because believe you me, if it's a cakewalk I can fix that easily.

@ the grinding comment. Well yes, it does force the player to play my way to an extent. But what's the alternative? People were complaining that leveling was too hard, by making leveling easier the game, by default, seems to become easier. If I put a penalty to just grinding on fairies until you reach level 30 then at least I can assure some kind of balance in the difficulty progression.

I may try setting all enemies to level up indefinitely, though I'll have to raise the level caps to prevent that from causing level 30 coming around Chapter 3. I don't know what I'm really saying...I guess my basic point is: as far as the story is concerned, you are never safe when confronting a Mamono. They are supernatural spirits who are designed to feed on humans. I'd prefer the game being hard, but if it's going to really turn people off I'm wary to making it the way I want to.

I guess I could find a script to make a difficulty setting...but that would require so much scripting...

Edit: Oh right, the camp scene. Well to put something of a penalty on using the camp to recover (giving the Fairy more value) there is a 1/10 chance of instant Game Over every time you sleep at the camp. Just keep trying and you should get the scene eventually.

Edit 2: Whoops...I forgot to set the variable for Aello's game over scene <_< Sorry about that. It's fixed now.
