Tower of Gargalesis (Tickling RPG M/F, F/F, F/M)

How wow! I was just talking about this with someone today! I'm going to have to go back and play this again to celebrate!

Great to see you back man, hopefully things are starting to go a bit better for you. Can't wait to see what you roll out with.

I'm kinda confused does "I can't continue where I left off" and all the talk about doing a lot of things different mean a complete overhaul or a new game? Or is still about the same ToG game?

INSERT BIG RETURN SPEECH HERE

I can hook you up with VX Ace if you feel so inclined.
(and you have nothing against pirating)
I can also Beta test and give feedback on ideas and stuff.

As for the depression thing... Well... I resurrected you once, I can AND WILL do it again if I must.
(yes, i was the guy that revived him)

If you need my assistance, I'll be here 🙂

...

Oh wait... he said send a PM....

Whoops.... ummm.... uhhhh...

*sheepishly backs away*

That's a good question I think what he means with "I can't continue where I left off" is he lost all of the original source materials for TOG (game script ideas and things like that) which would make resuming the development at it's current point hard to do (that and he's lost his copy of VX which could be another obstacle) BTW Deus glad to know that you're still alive and I'm still ready and willing to help any way I can, I have just one question, do you still have the HDD from your broken pc? because if so I might be able to salvage some if not all of that data for you.

OOHH OOHH OOHH!!! YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT RECOUVA, RIGHT!?

I have that. It works... although... only if he

A) still has the HDD

and

B) hasn't used it since the incident
(cuz of overwriting the data)

Kinda, first I'd check to see if the sectors on the HDD haven't been damaged because if they're not it should be possible to just connect the HDD to a PC using a SATA/IDE to USB connection (which I have) and just copy the files off of the HDD to something like a flash drive, now if the sectors are damaged then I'd start using RECOUVA but like you pointed out, either method would only work is he still has the HDD and hasn't overwritten the data.

While I appreciate the sentiment, the HDD in question was fried to the point it was making my apartment smell like electrical burn...so it's long since been disposed of, along with the entire computer it was attached to.

I already have VX Ace, which frankly is so much better than VX I can't even begin to express my love for it. Again, though, thanks for the offers.

What I want to do with the game, which I feel was broken at the foundation, is something I can't just do by going into the original source files. So, this does mean starting from scratch. However, I've been planning extensively what this will entail, which I won't get into here.

Suffice to say: it's going to fix a lot of the issues both players and I have with the game I left behind. I'll leave a little to the imagination at this point, but if I can get my stuff together, I'll make a new post detailing what I want to do with this game.

Again, PM me if anyone is interested in helping. It's been a long, long time since I worked on this and I've set realistic expectations for myself.

I'm much more open to suggestion than before 🙂

That's what I feared well it didn't hurt to ask.

I'm glad to hear you have something to work with that's going to help alot in revamping the game.

You can expect a PM from me shortly.

I always thought you were pretty open to suggestions the first time around TBCH but if you say you're more open now more power to ya.

Dues it is just nice seeing you are alive and well first and foremost. I am sorry to hear about your depression. I recently had a friend that took his life because of it. I hope you can find your way to come all the way back from it. Second welcome back. From what you have given us from the other 2 versions I say, as I tell all others, that you take as much time as you want. Because my Patience is still legendary.

Good luck to your real life. I hope you pull through that first. Games can wait unless they help.

Welcome back, Deus!

We're all rooting for you. Sort yourself out first and then come back to ToG.

Good luck with everything! Looking forward to this update of yours!

I'd like to put this out there:

I'm reading back through this thread, but since it's a rather long one, if you have any serious or minor grievances with the game (difficulty, scaling, poor writing, etc), tell me and I will address these issues.

I promise nothing like the Haunted House will ever happen again, but if there is anything else absolutely abhorrent, I want to know so I can take that into consideration.

I feel kinda bad being the first to respond to this, but I wasn't a big fan of that system where the enemies scaled to the point that gaining levels actually made it more difficult. It felt like it sorta punished you for playing the game more.

But for the most part, I agree with everyone else. The game had such exciting potential, and what was there was really great. It's great seeing you back, and in the mood to create, with all the inspiration. It's a nice thing to see.

I completely agree and can assure you this is gone.

Leveling up will always be a positive moving forward and you will never cock block yourself by being over prepared. And, in fact, players will be rewarded for exploring as much as possible.

Yeah, I remember that my first playtrough was stopped in it's tracks because I overleveled so much trying to beat Belzebebe that she got so powerful I simply couldn't beat her. Even with the White Feather.

Actually, a suggestion for you and all tickling game makers: A God Mode is a pretty good thing to have in your game. Make it completely optional but leave it there, it helps a shitton. Some people are just interested in the tickling content and not in the "game" factor of the game. Or at least sometimes they just feel like stomping everything and getting to the content.

The enemy scaling with you thing was my only issue, otherwise I loved where the game was going. Oh, and yea, the haunted house, lol. The first time I got there I was playing without internet so I couldn't even get on too see what this thread said to get past it. Took me a while but I figured it out after almost throwing my computer. Lol, so, yes, avoid that, or at the very least least a little bit more of a simple clue.

To think I'd see the day. Quite the pleasant surprise. Good to see you, Deus!

But I play a game to finish it. Adding a god mode would be too tempting to use and would make the game boring.

Anyway Deus, if you need any music I posted a thread with some music packs (there are four packs as of posting this comment).

I have to agree with Alexandah on this, while a god mode would be a nice feature to have from the start, it would completely kill the experience, ToG and other tickling RPG's are meant to be rewarding experiences for those who put forth the effort, if you have a god mode from the start you'd be getting very little fun out of the game and the scenes won't be as rewarding, because it wouldn't be challenging in the slightest, now if there was a god mode option it'd probably only be available after completing the game once.

Uh....I guess level scaling. That really screwed over the game to me. It forces you to have to do battles at a certain time and restricts you from doing anymore fighting till you did boss fights.

The writing was supurb. As well as haunted mansion.

I have a possible way around this. I'm still deciding if I'll implement it or not, but the idea is that at character creation if you enter a certain name, it loads a menu or room or something where you can just view the various scenes throughout the game. The restriction would probably be no bosses and no end game content, to give an incentive to play through the game.

Like I mentioned before, the enemy leveling system is gone. That said, I don't think overleveling will be a problem with what I have in mind. The goal, at this time, is that doing everything as it becomes available will prepare you for each main story related event as they occur.

With the exception being the battle with Gargalese at the end, which is meant to be incredibly difficult and test everything you've learned over the course of the game. I may or may not go into more details about that.

But if you explore and pay attention, you will find the bosses very doable. Still a challenge, but not something where you slog at a sack of Stamina for 10 to 40 minutes because they just have too much health and hit too hard.
