Am I the only one who cringes when someone on this forum says sole? Most of the time it's used in the right context, but something about that word makes me feel awkward, in real life or otherwise. Like the phrase, "Graze a feather across her soles" seems very weird when you can just say, "Tickled her feet with a feather."

I dunno, maybe I'm just odd.

There's more than one part of the foot, is the thing about that though.

This subculture/forum/whatever uses the word sole so much because it's prominent in our interests and it's awkward to say "bottom of the foot" so often. It's thought of less frequently in the mainstream so the word sole isn't used as much.

I equate it to the word crown as a body part. People that are interested in hats or hairstyles or whatever probably use the word crown far more often than most people, where the rest of us say it infrequently enough to just call it "the top of your head."

I'm in the minority of this thread, I guess. I actually like the word "Soles". I also belong to the Wu's Foot Fetish Forum, and most everyone there also says "Soles".

Anytime I've written tickling stories, either on this forum, or in my personal life, I always said the girl got tickled on her "Soles".

Most of my friends who aren't foot fetishists, say the word "Bottoms" of the feet. I'm not a fan of that word, as it reminds me of backside, or ass.

I guess it's the way I imagine the person saying it. I can't read the word sole without imagining the person saying it creepily. I understand it being used in stories and stuff where the point of you reading it is for the thrill, but when I'm just reading a forum post and someone says 'Grazes across her/his soles' I find it... Unnecessary.

For some reason I can't get my point across.

I hate when people in a story say...

"... She tickled her victim across the girl's poor heels, soles, arches, balls of the feet before working all around and between her flexing toes..."

Soles... used in that context pisses me off. The way I see it, sole is the entire bottom of the foot, and then THAT is made up of the heel, arch, ball and undersides of the toes.

But that was slightly off topic 😛

i like the word... when used correctly 😛.

Remember too, this is your perception on the word. I think its fine, and it has a similar magic about it, like bare midriff.

I had a girlfriend years ago, and when she found out I liked to tickle, she volunteered "I can't take it for very long on the bottoms of my feet." It still had a bit of a zing of energy to it. Magical potential. But I still respected her concerns about me might going overboard, there was plenty of upper body tickling which was quite delightful too. All was good.

When I hear it used in a "vanilla" setting it makes me wonder about the person using it! LOL!

It seems less prevalent in the "real world".

I love both the word "sole" and the reality of bare soles. :feets:

Like when I go up to a woman wearing flip flops in a store or something, and say "I love watching you walk in those flip flops because I get quick glimpses of the soles of your feet, which look quite tasty by the way..." You mean like that?

Seriously though, I prefer "bottoms of the feet" myself. "Soles" sounds so...."fetishy".

I don't like the word at all. If I'm watching a video and the girl says, "oh, no, don't tickle my soles!" or something to that effect, I'm done--video closed. One producer had all their models say it all the time... bleh.

I went back and checked my last True Tickling "Drained" story from earlier this month. I used it twice:

"The sensation of nails gently tickling my soles, my thighs, underarms was overwhelming."

And again later, when describing where the three ticklers were, one of which was at my soles.

So it looks like, as mentioned by someone else before, I primarily use it to describe the general location "bottoms of feet." In those cases I could've just said "feet," but to me that also includes the tops of the feet which isn't nearly as ticklish or exciting for me. And sometimes during a longer story it's nice to have a sub word for "feet" to throw in there.

Hardly ever see it or use it in real world settings, but here, I love the use of the word. Using it appropriatley and subtly in stories adds imagery to the situation for me, as well as abit of sensory feedback (kind of like you can imagine the sensation if it were happening to you) It is a rather ridiculous word to say out loud though, so if I heard it being said in a clip or during a session I guess it would bother me as much as it seems to bother you 🙂

Arch hit the nail on the head. It sounds "Fetishy", and whenever I hear someone say it I cant help but believe the person is being self-indulgent. Am I the only one who assumes the person means 'soles' when they tickle someone's feet?
