If it wasn't consensual or if they were tricked into participating under false pretenses, then yes they are a victim of a sex crime and my heart goes out to them. If two consenting adults allow their partners to do any act of BDSM upon them, then that isn't sexualizing violence. Violence is a social construct which is determined by certain factions of society. Who are they to say that spanking, scratching, or even tickling can be viewed as sexualizing violence? If both parties are into the same "kink" then the "kink" is deemed as normal from the point of view of both parties. They don't view it as a violent act. This sounds like an experience gone horribly wrong. Instead of demonizing the BDMS community as a whole, they should demonize the individual for treating him or her in a way other than the way the participating party wished to be treated. This has nothing to do with certain sexual acts, but instead has to do with a mind set of the perpetrator. We should educate everyone about what consent means and how they need said consent to go through with any sexual act.
