Is anyone else watching this train wreck of an interview w/Jim Lampley? 🙄 Oh, how the mighty have fallen...

XOXO

Not surprised, he's had a lot of them. He's solidified his place in boxing history, too bad he threw it all away. It all started with jail =/

A boxer who doesn't seem to know the difference between a punching bag and a woman's body does not deserve anything other than shame. I never liked the man and never will. He's an idiot who can beat people up. Wow, that's really important in society.

Just another athlete loser!!

And, no I don't think all athletes are losers considering I'm raising one. But many of them are overpaid babies who are worshipped like gods. Then they screw their lives up!

He's a loser, plain and simple!

The guy is a class A jerk. I think he took too many punches to the head.

Back in the day. Mike tyson would have punched your fucking brains in. He was tough as nails when he was in his prime

Mike Tyson, an idiot? I beg to differ. Several years ago, just prior to delivering the commencement address at Central State University in Ohio, Mike Tyson was awarded an honorary doctorate degree. During his commencement speech, Dr. Tyson remarked on his degree by saying; "I don't know what kind of doctor I am, but watching all these beautiful sisters here, I'm debating whether I should be a gynecologist."

Idiot indeed. 😛

Steph, if i beat tyson in a fight, will you let me tie you up and tickle you? :O

Well, at least we know he's not going to become a Shakespearean actor. "Friends, Romans, Countrymen...lend me your ears..."

Heck babe, for the money, I'D let the bonehead beat the crap out of me! LOL!
XOXO

Would someone please elaborate on this interview? I didn't get to see it and would like to hear more of the highlights, or 'lowlights', judging from the sound of your responses.

For the record, I've never liked Mike Tyson nor boxing in general. But I am interested in psychology and Tyson sounds like the perfect candidate for years of therapy.

I didn't see the interview either but lets reflect on some of the things that Tyson said over the years which made him famous or....eh... infamous

BTW Frank, I LOVE boxing but he is one guy that gave boxing a bad name. As a matter of fact, he almost singlehandedly, bastardized the sport, anyone who disagrees, I will "lend an ear".

I rewmember when Evander Holyfield had the WBC belt and they asked him if he wanted a shot at the IBF one. "Nah, I don't need another one" said the enigmatic champ, "I've got one 'ere."

Tyson: A man blessed with a gift for his profession that in my opinion made him second only to Ali in the all time lists. A man who subsequently proved himself a scumbag, a wanker, a loser, a waster, a bum and an abuser. He deserves whatever shit comes his way. He had more than most people can even dream of and threw it all away. And any man who was the most feared in the world and then feels the need to batter a septugenarian in a Road Rage incident deserves less than nothing. I wasn't especially a Lennox Lewis fan, but the night he destroyed Tyson (only a surprise it took him so many rounds to do it) I was dancing on the tiles. I was hoping it would persuade him to get the hell out of boxing, but I was happy to see him hang around to get humiliated by a journeyman like Danny Williams.

Tyson has nothing left to offer the sport more than the Elephant Man could offer the freak show. He's a curiosity, a museum relic. The longer he tries to keep fighting, the more often he's going to get battered witless. IF he does it too many times, he'll end up a cabbage.

Mike Tyson Circa 1988

Hey kis123 Mike Tyson doesnt beat people up hes a professional boxer, there is a difference. I beat people up who harm little children...ive done it before and ill do it again,im not getting into specifics for my own reasons. However I have never put on BOXING GLOVES,obeyed a referee and BOXED! Mike Tyson is way past his prime and never recovered from that magical night in Tokyo,Japan when a journey man boxer named James Buster Douglas to honor his recently departed mother, beat the living shit out of Mike Tyson and became world champion. Tyson in 1988 however was unstoppable, remember Micheal Spinks? Cmon he was great but didnt know how to recover from a brutal loss. If he did who knows what he could have become? Who in boxing history has a better uppercut than Tyson? An uppercut that almost ended Douglass fairytale evening (but didnt as it was proved on an HBO special the timekeepers count was on 10 but he counted WAY too fast, buy the DVD if you want to argue). Kis I dont want to get into a flaming bout with you like someone else I remember but damn you act like its 1867 or something! Are you gonna put chastity belts on your kids? You should go to that town in Pennslyvania, Amish country...youd fit right in!😛

I agree with that. But Mike Tyson is a thug. That is all he is. ElectricEye72 I agree with kis123 here. Tyson has been arrested for assault that did not occur in the boxing ring. So maybe you are a fan but I am pretty sure Robin Givens would not give your statements a ringing endorsement considering she has had her bell rung by the classless jerk too. So he has not contained himself inside the ring or out of it. Or do I need to remind you that biting your opponents ear off is against the rules. You are a fan and I understand but get a grip. Mike Tyson is a dangerous thug who walks to the beat of his own drummer.

Could be that we're referring to the 78 year old man he battered, the beauty queen he was found guilty of raping and the various girls he was alleged to have abused as a teenager, largely covered up by Gus D'Amato?

This is ignoring the acts of thuggery he committed in the ring of course; nutting Michael Spinks and chowing on the side of Holyfield's head to name but two.

I agree with Kis 123 as well, not only on the sentiments that he is a thug, but also he exemplifies todays professional athlete in general. An overpaid crybaby. What would that guy be doing if he wasn't boxing? Seriously, man.

Since Gus D'Amato died and he fired Kevin Rooney his career and life has just gone into a downward spiral. I listen to his interviews only because I either want a laugh or I just want to hear what inappropriate remark he is going to make.

Tyson Being Tyson

Well BigJim thanks for RESPECTFULLY disagreeing with me. You have to understand that boxers are taught to be aggressive, savages in the ring so when that rubs off out of the ring we shouldnt all be shocked. Just about all great historical figures have some skeletons in the closet let alone a guy like Tyson. People like Winston Churchill,JFK,Martin Luther King,Franklin Roosevelt, etc. all have things they didnt want released to the public. Tyson just doesnt give a shit anymore so you have to really take that at face value what he is.

I understand it well enough EE, I did a spot myself in junior school and have been a fan for two decades. There hasn't been a sucessful boxer in history who wasn't trained in channelled a aggression. Tyson's problem is that he's a sub-human cretin with few morals, no refinement and little or no self-control. To be king of the hill you don't have to be that way inclined. Lennox Lewis, Mohammed Ali, the two Sugar Rays, Marvin Hagler, Alan Minter, Lloyd Honeyghan, Larry Holmes, George Foreman and Ken Norton are all examples of top fighters who not only controlled themselves, but were exemplary human beings in any right.

Tyson's animalistic tendencies would certainly have helped his in-ring aggression some, but I seriously doubt he needed any training in forced agression to become what he has. He'd have been in jail before he even turned pro if Gus D'Amato hadn't kept firing boxers in his stable who wanted to report Tyson abusing teenage girls to the police. Gus had many qualities, but he was out for number 1, don't ever doubt it! Tyson was a golden egg laying goose for anyone.

I refuse to accept that as an excuse for punching Spinks in the "jewels" and eating Holyfield's ear. He is a thug. Period. I watched Ali, Foreman, Frazier all fight and they NEVER acted like that. They had too much pride in themselves to conduct themselves in that manner. You need aggression in the ring. I agree or your dead. I completely agree with that. But again, I do not recall the fighters of the 60's and 70's acting out. What can I say? Those fighters knew how to behave publicly and privately.

Mike Tyson is a thug and a bully. Now his skills have declined and he cannot just get into the ring and MUG his opponent as he was used to doing. This is very difficult for a bully to come to grips with! I was a huge Tyson fan until he started acting like an animal...not all boxers are like him...He is actually unique. The fiercest fighters I know do not act like he has in the past. George Foreman was known as a very tough fighter in his time. He was feared!!! George turned into a real class act and personality everyone loved. I do not see that in Tyson's future. He has alienated mostly everyone in boxing and he will ultimatley wind up like alot of other fighters..bitter and broke!
Serves him right...I believe he will be in jail sometime soon. Probably for a long stretch this time. This for all those muggings he did as a child growing up in the tough streets of Bklyn...where other great fighters have come from that did not have to mug old ladies!!
NO CLASS BUM...HIS legacy
