My bday is Sunday and I'll be 27 (unfortunately). Some of you sure will laugh and say oh wow your turning 27, thats sooooooo old and be sarcastic. I guess its just you realize at this age you are really no longer a young kid anymore. Sure Im not "old" obviously but still I don't like the # of 27. It's funny I hated being 26, until the last month or so...now I've loved being 26 and keep saying to everyone that I'm 26 (cause I don't wanna turn 27 lol). But anyways the point of this thread is not about me, my age or my bday...

The point is that nobody by looking at me/talking to me would think I'm really 26, going on 27. Most think I look 21-24. I personally feel like Im turning 24, instead of 27. I guess its good to look and feel younger than your age as opposed to older. I feel young, I still wear my hat backwards, and I like 80 year old guys who do that, cause I will do that if I ever made it to that age.

So what is your REAL age and what do you FEEL age wise? Do you feel younger/older? What do most people think you "look"? I find it interesting because I seriously suck at telling people's ages...what do you think?

great and original question!

In 2 years I'll be 40, but I always get carded (even out with my younger friends~something THEY find hysterical) and everyone thinks I'm in my late 20s. I never had kids and pretty much act lke I'm about 12 much of the time
and I was blessed with good genes I guess. My mom is in her 70s and looks like she's in her 50s. My pop is 5 years younger than her and his military buds used to tease him about cradle robbing (she's 4'11, I'm 5'3) the guys never had a clue she was OLDER.... :manicd:
Happy almost b-day BTW, it gets better, I promise....
XOXO

I'm 27. Some days I feel like I'm 18 or 20, other days I feel like an old man. I think it depends on how much sleep and/or coffee I've had.

Wow, Steph...

Your life experiences sound almost exactly like mine -
I'm a year younger than you, and I was carded on
my last birthday, and my younger friend with me,
wasn't. Happens that way all the time. 12 is also
the age I feel most often, and I, too, have no children.

My mother and her sister are in their 60's, look 40's,
and my dad was 4 years younger than my mom.

Not *quite* twins (especially with the tickling difference)
but perhaps sorority sisters 🙂

Oh, and most people think I'm about 23.

Lee

Man, people always guess that I'm like 35 or older. Of course, I don't help matters, by having one of those great big bushy fu-man-chu mustaches, either.

Lee, I honestly thought that you were no older than me. I'm 26.

But I feel 19.... for some reason I think I'm always going to feel that age. Looking at pics of my mom, looking at me now... I'll be getting carded for a long time.

I do think the kids thing is key Lee. All of my friends have kids~their teenagers all think I walk on water. Whatever!
When you have kids, it forces you to grow up and pull your head out of your ass~something I don't mind admitting hasn't happened for me... 😛
XOXO

I thought you were 25. 😀

I actually am 55. Most days I feel about 40, but I was certainly felt older when the ticket seller at the local cinema automatically gave me a senior discount ticket last year.

I will be 41 this August. As recently as last month, the cashier at a snack bar at UMass asked for my student ID. (Boy that feels great)

Inside I do still feel like I'm in my 20s. But I am starting to see a few gray hairs now.

I am 36 this year and I have to say for most of the time, I still feel like I did when I was 20.

I am 46 but most of the time feel like I am in my middle 30s. Now if the kids are really being rough then I feel like I am in my 70s. People peg me to be in my 30's also which is always a boost to the ego

I am 51 but my coworkers, friends and kids keep me feeling anywhere between 10 and 50........

(ya dont act your age when ya have kids Steph....it gives you an excuse not too...)

Just turned 45.......feel ....... 25. Depending on how the day went at work. :bubble:

I think for me, it really depends on what day it is, or what kind of a mood I'm in. I'm 35, as most who know me are aware. Some days, I feel like I'm in my early 20s, and just out of college, because I'm not married, have no kids, and my career isnt where I want it to be. Other times, I feel like an old man of 65 because of the general trials of life. I dont look 35, most who meet me say I look no more than 28, and, believe it or not, I even got carded at a casino this year! Hardly ever do I feel 35, and I dont look it either, according to most who have seen me, especially now with my recent weight loss.

Real Age : 45

Physical Age: 28 - as how old my body feels (I'm in much better shape now than I was then)

Mental Age: 30 - Age I think I am ....you kind of settle on one and birthdays dont' matter much after that

Emotional Age: 15 I try not to take anything seriously....and I don't for, the most part. (I have no kids.....that keeps me young in this sense)

Hmmm (scatches her head) Well, if I don't act my age WITHOUT kids, what do I become if I HAVE them...a FETUS?? :evilha:
XOXO

No Darlin, but you DO get to see the world all over again through innocent eyes...

For example...My son Drew this picture for me today...he is 6...

myson10pe.gif

I asked him about the kite and where it was...then he pointed out the RRV that he had drawn on a headstone...

It was a picture of him flying kites with my dad.....after he dies as well and gets buried in the same cemetary...

He plans to have fun with the grandpa he never met but who he is named after.....

Makes one ponder and rethink a lot of things...

:dropatear
Darn you Ray! 🙂 You're lucky I luv ya!
For YEARS my friends have been trying to convert me "OMG you'd be the best mom ever!" and I've avoided it like the plague. I know everything in the world how NOT to raise a kid from personal experience, nothing about the right steps...My kid would be a mess. I'd either be too strict like my parents and the kid would HATE me for it, or they'd get away with murder. Either way, it's lose/lose.
XOXO

Instinct would take over love..Ya think I knew anything about being a parent before actually becoming one....?

Not a chance...and still learning every day..... :dogpile:

I do realize kids don't come w/an instruction manual. But I do know, it's the biggest job you'll ever have. There are no bonuses, no vacay, no sick time. You'd better want this job more than anything else on the planet, otherwise, don't bother. The biological clock for me just never went off. I do figure there's a reason for it. Who the hell wants a mom who'd let them watch Exorcist and feed them ice cream for dinner once in awhile. Talk about unfit...I can barely take care of myself, there's no way I could do right by a baby.
XOXO

Plenty of bonuses...the above pic just a small one.....Vacay...I dunno I have been to 6 get together/gatherings this year after this weekend and 3 nests out of the last 4 years......so...there is time to ones self...can you do it without help? Many do..many rely on others for support....

What makes ya think my little guy hasnt had I ce cream or watermellon for dinner evry now and then.....as for what he watches...not the exorcist but he has seen plenty........
