I think the parameters of text posts are too limiting to convey the scope of any person, but one can always try...
Hmm, some details in no particular order:
-I am an objectivist, believing people are ultimately responsible for their actions and personal well-being.
-I believe in God, and that God helps those who help themselves.
-I love science-fiction and fantasy, and feel that both allow humans to push themselves to make into reality the things that they envision.
-I am a husband and a father, and though I believe that it takes more than a person to make someone happy (tying into the whole objectivist thing, as well as Maszlo's Hierarchy of Needs.), out of love, I will do whatever I can to help my family to be happy.
-I am methodical in most of my day-to-day actions, not really liking to rush. I'd rather take the time to do something right the first time, instead of "winging it" and potentially making mistakes.
-I am a workaholic, and I tend to do what I'm asked to do, without complaint. Unusual circumstances that create longer hours don't phase me, because it means I'm going to get paid more.
-I'm quiet, introverted, and introspective.
-I communicate better in writing than I do verbally.
-I collect things that represent wizards, such as ceramic and pewter statuettes, and fantasy prints depicting wizards, because I really like the wizard archetype. Not so much the Harry Potter-type wizard, but more like the Merlin from Excalibur, or Sam Neil-type Merlin, who wasn't so much a power figure, but the power behind the power; the older, wiser figure who advised those in power.
-I'm very logical, sometimes to the point of seeming cold, but I understand that I can sometimes become victim to my own irrational emotions, and also that we should sometimes listen to our emotions, even when it doesn't seem logical to do so.
-I crave my independence and don't like to rely on others for help if I think I can or should do something myself, even if said-person/people can do it better or faster.
-I have a dry sense of humor.
-I am a spelling-nazi (not a grammar-nazi! I commit plenty of grammar sins!), and get irritated by careless misspellings in news articles, packaging, etc., because to me, that represents the "dumbing down" of society. HOWEVER, I find many mispellings on the "internetz" to be amusing (such as "pwned/pwn3d," "teh sux," and "internetz."), because I don't think that it represents ignorance/carelessness, but rather a blatant disregard of proper spelling, which, in its own net-slang form, is proper. Many people who use these expressions are more than capable of spelling properly, but choose not to.
-I used to like republicans, because when I was in the service, republican presidents tended to mean pay raises for me. Now, the more I like at political representatives, I find that both dominant parties are pointless, and merely have figureheads who ultimately cannot change things for the better. I feel that by the very nature of our capitalist government, people with money hold the power. Considering the alternatives, I don't necessarily think the arrangement is a BAD thing, but it's certainly flawed.
-As far as sexuality, I like tickling and being tickled, and have no idea why, other than that when I'm on the receiving end, I like the lack of control and the unbearable sensations. I also have a foot fetish, but I'm very weird about it in that it's not so much about the foot itself, but about being sexually aroused by worshiping the woman I love (I do think the foot is a very feminine body part, though, and like the curvature of the arch.). Ultimately, I'd also rather not have my deviant interests, but to do otherwise for me would be lying to myself, or like being a homosexual guy trying to pretend they don't like other guys.
-I like doing detail-oriented things that I can get lost in, like working on stained glass artwork. Unfortunately, I don't have the space to work on anything in my new apartment. Hopefully, that will change in some time, when we go house-hunting in about a year.
This was fun! This reminds me of the example of personal mission statements from a book I'm reading (The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey). This is what I've come up with after about an hour of thought. There's probably more, but I think this is good for now.
