Are you a conventional dinner and a movie type of person?

Me?

I usually plan my dates while I'm driving to pick her up. And, they usually go well; love being spontaneous.

I don't usually plan these sorts of things, but somehow I usually end up at a pool hall and very, very drunk.

It doesn't really matter what happens as long as it gives us a chance to relax and get to know each other. Though generally when I think of first dates, a dinner date is something that does come to my mind, but if he thinks of something different and creative, I'd be up to it. 😀

All depends on the time of the date, and the person I'd be dating. If it's a total stranger, drinks or appetizers are good, because they allow for conversation without being crazy. I'm all for adding something else to that, but I'm not a big movie date fan. There's not much I need to know about the side of a person's head, or how they eat their popcorn.

If it was a friend I had known previously, then that changes everything. If you already know the person, a meal or drinks could be awkward, especially if you're not sure how to transition from friendship to romance. Then, that's an activity; hiking, mini-golf, bowling, something silly.

Dinner at a nice restaurant is a must for me on a first date. Afterwords, I club her over the head and take her back to my cave.

I avoided the movie on the first date because then you just sat and stared at a movie for 2 hours but didn't get to know her.

I always suggest meeting for a few drinks on the first date, since I'd rather get to know the girl first. As tommy says movies aren't the best since your sitting watching a movie not really able to talk. I tend to leave the cinema for the second or third date personally.

Nooo, I do that kind of thing with friends usually! Seems a little dull for a date.

Some other ideas--

  • Stargazing outside of the city (if you live in the city) -- impress your date with your knowledge of the galaxies, or scare them off with your nerdiness!
  • Read E.E. Cummings and/or Calvin and Hobbes to each other...or other books...
  • Ice cream cones at Dairy Queen, then sit outside and wave to passing cars.
  • Mutual musical fun on the xylophone, trumpet, and whatever else you have on-hand.
  • Mural painting.
  • To the botanical gardens.
  • Urban exploration/camera hunting/trespassing.
  • Go to your local planetarium!
  • Late night picnic.
  • Aimless driving and listening to mix-tapes.
  • Drive-in movies and popcorn.
  • Rollerskating/roller-blading/roller-derby/falling often.
  • Games at an arcade.
  • Building snow creatures (winter only).
  • Chalk drawing on your local sidewalk.
  • Something else you know The Two of You would like.

Something a little unusual like a monster truck ralley or one of those Arabian Knight places where they joust.

Acquire carnal knowledge of my date.

No movies for me on a first date. That's the worst thing to do if you want to figure out if you want to see someone again! I like some sort of activity where you can chat with each other -- bowling, pool, darts, something like that. If it was the summer, I'd also bring her to a baseball game.

I ususally ask my date what their preferences are. I want my date to have a good time doing something they enjoy. I personally enjoy having a first date in a relaxing environment. Like a picnic in the park under a nice shade tree. I am very simplistic that way.

Hang out at the mall for a few, go grab something to eat, have a few drinks, then introduce her to my good friend chloroform. :wavingguy

Now, those would be fun times!! 🙂

Pool works for me. The movies usually come later, like on the third date. There is always dinner, though.

What I would really like to do on a first date :feets: is not what I think wise to do on a first date, if I want there to be a second date.

Yes, I'm a conventional dinner and a movie type of person.

Picnic lunch in the park followed by a stroll around the trails, just getting to know each other.
