A phobia (from the Greek: φόβος, phóbos, fear or morbid fear), is an irrational, intense, persistent fear of certain situations, activities, things, or people. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. When the fear is beyond one's control, and if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made. ~ Wikipedia
Phineas, what I am saying is that a phobia, as irrational as it may be, isn't your fault and doesn't need justification. That's very, very different from someone who just immediately thinks, "Ewww, yucky!" simply because they don't know any better and don't want to be bothered with making their own opinion via personal experience, and just go along with whatever they were taught.
I don't know, I don't think I am eloquent enough to phrase my opinion properly. Maybe that's the source of all the frustration in this thread, lol.
