I know I am frickin' broke! AAAANNNNDDD the last three years I have paid for NEST and something comes up at the last minute and I end up not being able to go....so until I am a little more financially stable...we just won't spend the money!

Why aren't other folks there?

Ticklebear 2 and I could not make it to NEST because of prior responsibilities and finances-having to pay bills and things like that. That is why we could not go to NEST-even though we so badly wanted to be able to attend NEST this year, here is hoping we can finally make it next year-it will be our first time at NEST-if we are able to make it next year-we were be "newbies." Please keep your fingers crossed, thanks have a great day and hugs.:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Apart from the fact that it would be way too far - I am just not into gatherings. Tickling is sexual to me, something that I only want to do with one partner.

As I usually say, people have reasons to do things. (Why aren't you reading War and Peace right now?)

Of course, I hope the people at NEST are enjoying themselves as they presumably hoped.

Bad timing

Tracy and I aren't there this year due to family obligations. But we're there in spirit! :grouphug:

Busy with my job and had other pressing financial obligations this year.

DAN Animal..... The troops have been asking about you and the "miss" not able to be here.... Something about a pizza run with Viper ???? << LOL >>

Miss ya Bro

Lack of money, hectic life, huge travel arrangements that would require making, A level exams in about a month.

For the same reason stated in the other "why are you not going to nest" thread

I am not there NOW, but I will arrive tomorrow. I have family obligations too, but at least I can attend the MAIN EVENT. I have not been there in three years, so I can not miss another year.

Dan... I am going to miss you brother. I thought you were going to be there. I have to make sure you will be there in 2010. I am making plans already to attend that NEST.

Ahhhh I'm not at Nest because I'm not in a position in my life to afford it. 🙁

Several reasons, actually.

The first is that, as of January 15th, I have been unemployed, so any loose cash that I have been able to scoop up has been going to pay bills, etc.

The second is that, to be perfectly honest, I'm not comfortable at tickle-related gatherings. I've been to five (one in Columbus a few years back-where Bella injured me LOL, two of the recent Michigan parties, and the NWOT in Lima, OH last summer, and the recent Cleveland munch). Although the vast majority of people I have met are first rate, I just feel like a bit of a wallflower.

I've made a few new friends, and one or two who have become very important parts of me, but discussing it in an open party-type forum just isn't my gig. I think of myself of as a pretty outgoing guy who has a decent gift of gab, but when it comes to discussing tickling, my gears grind to a stop, and I clam up immediately.

Another reason is that I just would never be caught dead going to an "adult" or "dungeon" type club. As those who I have chatted with probably know, I'm not into bondage or torture tickling in the least.

About 10 yrs ago, I was very close to a friend who was not only into tickling, but into...heavier...things as well. She invited me to go to a club in Miami with her "Master" (a term which really chafes me as well, but that's for another discussion). I said to her "Sweetheart, you know me about as well as anyone on this planet. How do you think I'd react if I saw you chained to something and some asshole with a whip or something hitting you? I'd start busting heads."

My own beliefs are that tickling is just something that is best in a one-on-one situation. If I was to meet one of the ladies here, say in a bar, having a drink, I'd be a lot better, and more myself.

Perhaps someday, my views on gatherings will change, but for now, it is what it is.

A few reasons for me as well.

Money being one. My business is very slow due to the economy, and the extra expense wouldnt be a wise move now.

Reputation being another: I've never felt comfortable of the idea of going to NEST. Although I keep a much lower profile on the forum now than I used to, I wouldnt like the idea of walking in there, and many of the girls who are there going "OMG, here's the guy that asked me if I stood barefoot on a ladder".

Third, for me, while I respect the idea of going to NEST for those who find it fun, I personally like the idea of tickling as a one on one situation, in private, engaged in with a close female friend, or girlfriend/wife. I dont think I'd feel comfortable at all tickling someone, or being tickled, at such a public gathering.

I hope that everyone who attended is having a great weekend, but I just never saw it as an activity I particularly wanted to attend.

No funds, no time, nothing west of the Mississippi....well Tamia and bugman are relatively close...

One of these days though...

No cash and a little embarrassed - I have no excuse though, I live 20 minutes away...

Well if you have a time machine, go back to around 1999 as they were held at Max Speer's apartment AND we had a good amount of folks who came. Max didn't charge at that time.

Then again if you had a time machine, you wouldn't need to attend the NEST. LOL

I think it is to the point where it is being priced out of the range of people. This isn't to say have the event take place in the cheapest place in town, but with registration nearing a hundred dollars, plus travel expenses (I know I would have about $160 or there abouts in just gas, with the added issue of oil and all that), plus food (chalk up about another fifty to a hundred), plus hotel (which was over one hundred for three nights), you are running a pricing gauntlet almost to a thousand dollars. I understand saving up for a vacation/trip, but there has to be a way to cushion this cost for the totality of a potential attendance base.

I understand reasonable costs and saving, but for people of my age and income bracket, it's very hard to make this swing. I have barely enough to cover my outstanding bills, and with more money going to standardized tests for graduate schools, plus costs for graduate school applications...yeah.

I guess it's a situation of choices. But if you want to get a full NEST experience, it's costing you scratch almost to a thousand dollars.

I think they are starting a gathering in Chicago again. So no need to travel to Philadelphia. You can check that one.

I'm not at NEST 'cause :

I am participating in a medical research study that is paying me fairly handsomely.

Seriously.

I feel ya...maybe next year for me though! I guess I'll just keep trying. If I can get some more work out and save money from commissions, things become much more possible in that beautiful kind of way.

You're in Il...right...? Join the Michigan gathering, it's what I'm gunning for. 😀

Yep, and I have thought about that as well.

At the same time, I am also gunning to go to NEST next year.

Well. Unfortunately I don't the time nor the necessary funding t attend NEST. Sad part is I live in Maryland and Pennsylvania is next door to me. Oh well, I'll make it there one day

I'm not at nest mainly because of the money issues.. I'm just a poor college student. I don't have a job.. I'm praying that that changes for the summer though.. but even if I had a job it would go to other things like being able to eat lol.. We have a hard time getting food into this home sometimes... And my car doesn't work right now too.. so I need to pay for that to get fixed and that would take money which I don't have..

And then there's school.. if it was at the end of may, then this wouldn't be an issue but I have finales in like a week so I can't go now becuase I might have to miss some important schooling or time to write a paper I have due in a week.

and also I guess I'm a little scared to go to nest. If I had the money and didn't worry about school and I had a friend from here that was in to tickling go with me, it might be okay but no lol..

I do wanna go to NEST though.. but not just becuase of NEST.. but because of it being in Philly. It's not easy getting to philly since I'm about as far from it as possible within the continental united states since I'm in california.. But I wanna go to Philly someday because my favorite actor and music artist is Will Smith and he's from Philly so it would just be cool to go to the city Will Smith is from as stupid as that sounds, and schedule it around NEST.. but that probably won't happen, probably not even next year lol.. But we'll see..
