Why do guys pay for sex?

Sounds like a simple question, doesn't it?

A woman posed this question to me online a long time ago and I responded to her. (I'm no longer sure exactly what my response was then.) Since then, I've found that my answer often depended on my current attitudes about women and relationships at a given time; needless to say it varied quite a lot.

So, in your opinion, why do guys/men pay for sex (or sexual favors, or tickling, etc.) while women (generally) do not?

As a follow up question, I'm also curious as to what women honestly think about guys who do pay for it (or have done so in the past)?

funny how we can have such divergent opinions, and we're all guys?!
from what i'm told by guys who have used the services of "pros", the main reason is that their wives aren't having sex with them, so they go to the hookers to have sex. this staves off the need for lawyers, and divorce.

from their reactions when the subject has come up, all the women i know say the idea disgusts them.

Aside from any moral/emotional issues that this can bring up, I think it's very risky. Women on the street selling themselves (whether for their own pleasure or in order to survive) can easily pick up and pass on STDs. Condoms are NOT 100% reliable as protection. There have been cases where pimps demand more than was agreed upon...and beat it out of the client. You can get arrested. Most women (esp. wives/SOs) I know would think less of a man who's done this...and they generally DO end up finding out sooner or later. I just don't think it's worth all the risks involved.

Thankfully, prostitution is legal here in Germany. All hookers must be registered and examined for diseases frequently, and pimps get arrested.

That doesn't prevent us from illegal hookers (mostly drug addicts or victims of mafia girl trade from Eastern Europe and Asia), but it makes it quite safe to go to a brothel. Thus many men to whom milagros' defintion applies can get safe sex, without harassing other women.

I used to pay for tickling, or tickling with sex, quite frequently after my divorce, and I see nothing wrong with that. It enabled me to collect experience with many different girls and to get rid of my sometimes feverish urge to tickle somebody.

So far, I've only had two bad experiences with hookers, but I've had the chance to tickle a lot of most beautiful and nice girls. I introduced several German BDSM studios to tickling, and from occasional phone contacts with them, I hear that this niche business becomes increasingly popular. i especially liked those from milagros, areenactor, and Haltickling, but everyone made some good points.

on that note, i purposely left the question rather open-ended; it is not limited to "vanilla" sex with street hookers. it just as easily applies to tickling at bdsm places with "professionals" or encounters with high-priced escorts. since many of us here probably associate tickling with sex (to varying degrees), this probably hits much closer to home.

TicklingDuo (Ann) indirectly responded to my second question. she seems pretty opposed to the idea on many levels. as areenactor mentioned, most women seem to express a similar disgust for the idea--regardless of the reasons they give for it.

i have an anecdote that relates to this:
i know a woman who is/has been *far* more "adventurous" sexually than i or anyone i know probably will ever be; i honestly admire her for it too. she's a good friend i met years ago, and she was the first woman i met for tickling. she's not a "pro" nor has she ever been one, and she's currently in a committed relationship. (we still stay in touch, but just as friends/penpals now. nothing more.)

i <i>used</i> to keep her apprised of how things were going for me with respect to finding a local friend/tickling partner, etc. as most guys here know, the search is not easy. (getting lied to, being flaked on, manipulated and generally treated like sh*t by the so-called "nice" ones is, sadly, only part of the tale....but i digress.)

maybe six months ago or so, i mentioned <i>thinking</i> of trying an escort service to find a ticklee--just to (as Hal said) periodically stem the urge to tickle. in response, she lashed out at me, judged me, called the thought disgusting, etc. the hypocrisy and lack of understanding i perceived was such that it nearly cost us our friendship. fortunately it didn't, and we eventually patched things up. for my own reasons, i never did try the escort service though. (it still seems too "businessy" to me, but i honestly wish it didn't.) i also have never discussed it or details of my personal relationships with her since then.

i think that since most women don't have to work nearly as hard to get sexual favors from men, many cannot understand a guys' desire to "expedite" matters. lol anyway, i think that this lack of understanding leads to a dishonorable opinion of the activity and the men who do it.

Point two: There have been arguments made that prostitution actually protects society from harm, i.e., if there were no prostitutes about (aboot?) to quench the raging hormones of young men, old perverts, and the like, that many "normal" women within society would come to harm through sexual aggression, assault and rape from those psychos that are unable to control their impulses.

Basically, *****s put up with a lot of shit from men that most women would not.
