Why do we mourn Michael Jackson?

I live in Melbourne, Australia, and rest assured, that I've heard Quincy Jones' name mentioned more times then I've eaten in the past 4 days.

And let the fans think what they want. Are you the party police or something? If you were a fan of Ozzy Ozborne, would you be the guy who tells all the fans that that isn't a real bat's head in his mouth?

Sure, Quincy and co played an integral role in MJ's rise to fame and stardom, but let the guy rest in peace and give the guy credit where credit is due.

I'd like to see anybody win a crowd over the way MJ could age 11. That's fucking talent, man.

I just had another thought on the pedophile stance. Yes he paid out money to people who accused him of behavior...and nothing else ever came out.

The Catholic Church also paid out money to people who accused priests of behavior...and EVERYTHING still came out.

So are we to believe that Michael Jackson is more powerful than the Catholic Church that he could keep the exact stories from those that got paid off out of the media unlike the Catholic Church that could not.

The Catholic Church has many allegations and pretty much all of them, including MANY of those that were paid off have come on TV written books, done interviews about everything that happened. Why, because they and their parents DID NOT want any other children to suffer the way they have..they took and money and talked.

Again, I can not say it strongly enough...I would think if something awful happened to your child you would not just take the money and not want to ensure other children were not harmed as well. That is why I am inclined to believe that he did things that while not criminal would certainly embarrass him or those he had endorsements with.

Just putting it out there that MJ no matter how high his celebrity status was, did not have the clout of the Catholic Church to keep things out of the media. How can you think MJ could keep someone, even one person from talking when the Catholic Church couldn't.

That's a very good point, Rob.

But keep in mind that the Catholic abuse was going on for decades (who knows, maybe centuries) before the full truth came out. They kept it hushed up for a long, long, long time. And money did the trick there too.

Maybe more information will come out now that he's gone.

One more quick thing, not everyone thinks anyone here is bad or wrong for their thoughts about him. My initial thing was, give it a day or so to be all over the notion. That was it, afterward, its all fair game.

I certainly do not think anyone was trolling or wrong. After all it is everyone's individual feelings and I can not nor would not change it.
I only clarify so that people understand my position on why I think the way I do. If people read my reasons and agree with it, so be it. If they do not then again, so be it.

I will not judge. I respect everyone's opinions, even if I do not agree it is not right for me not to respect it. Again, I will explain why I feel like I do but not to change a mind but to clear mine.

Yeah, you make your point, but other people will their points too. It's usually what happens in a discussion/conversation. This thread would be pretty dead and useless if there weren't people who had differing opinions about Michael Jackson and his life. No one's opinion one way or another is wrong in anyway.

Why do we mourn?

Because once life is over for someone we like to remember the good in people. People have a right to be remembered in a positive light.

Let's be fair, he like Elvis Presley changed to way we listen to music. He was an icon.

If your child were to pass away and he or she were a murderer, you would still remember your child in a positive light.

I guess what I am saying is that you have a right to remember people the way you want to. But remember nobody is perfect and we have all done something or somethings we are not proud of. You would not want to be remember for your bad things you have done. You would want to be remembered in a positive light.

It is a good subject.

P.S.
I believe that he did something wrong, but right now, that is really irrelevent. And like it has been stated, nothing has been proven in a court of law.

Well, now that you mention it......

OJ was acquitted by a jury of his peers. Do I think he did it?? Hell yes I do! But the bottom line is the defense had a better case than the prosecution and he was acquitted of the crime. I wouldn't had a huge problem with that until he started thumping his chest and arrogantly taunting the Brown family. After that, I was done with him and do not to this day defend him. If MJ would've thumped his chest and acted arrogantly about it, conviction or not, I would've been done with him too. But he didn't; he paid the money to the family--OJ did not and you're trying to compare the two where there is absolutely no comparison at all. If MJ was such a badass pedophile, why only two people in 15 years? The average pedphile gets more play than that I'm sure.

You just want your way......go ahead and have it. But don't get upset when others disagree with you. There are those of us who believe in the justice system; Lady Justice has scales for a reason.
