I wrote a piece about this back in the mid-80's,.... back in the emerging-community days of desperate postal mail contacts, polaroids and 20th generation photocopies.

Pretty obviously there's a variant of the power exchange psychology going on - that much goes without saying, eh? The old D/S,.. or S/M,... take your pick. And, as with anything which involves physical touching, there's an intimacy quotient at work. I mean tickling requires the sharing of one's body in ways which are reserved for special persons and purposes.

And my own personal favorite theory involved the analogous nature of tickling to sex, itself. After all, they both entail the stimulation of highly sensitive nerve endings, and they both produce powerful responses. Hell, tickling can lead to climax in some cases,..... gotta be related.

Hi, Toto. I also had the fetish before TMF and the internet. You have to remember, of course, that tickling has been going on since before electricity and then some. So it's not new. Back in my earlier days all you had were certain magazines and videos in adult stores. That, plus the hope that you'd find somebody locally of the opposite sex to play with. Not very easy. I did correspond and exchange stories with Max Speer and finally got to meet him in person at one of the earlier NESTS. We share specific tickling interests and have made a nice friendship over the years. I have continued to come to NESTS since then and have had most of my best tickling sessions there. In more recent times I have made more of an effort to acknowledge my fetish to others locally and have more tickle fun here now than before.

I guess maybe I don't go as far back as Pied as far as being really active in the scene. I know I've had the fetish since childhood, but in the 60s and 70s I was busy working, was still married, and really had to repress it all. As I got to the 80s and got divorced, I was able to find the various magazines that had tickling articles in them (mostly by Max Speer) and videos that you could watch at adult shops. As we got to the 90s and the internet you could order videos on-line that would be mailed to you and you'd play them on a vcr. Now, of course, you can download them directly onto your computer.

I'm wondering, Pied, if I possibly have met you at NEST at some point. If you wish, P/M me about that. I can tell you that when NEST was a little smaller, they would have a "meet-and-greet" reception the first night, and people would give their name and hometown, and would answer the question: when did you first become interested in tickling? The answer almost always was: "since childhood". And, almost always added to that was the following statement: ".........and I thought I was all alone".

The internet took care of the "all alone" aspect, and NEST has given the opportunity for the tickling community to come together in person.

As primarily a lee, I would say for me it's two things. One is the sensation. It's a pleasureable sensation that is also unbearable. That seems counterintuitive.
