World Cup

Ah... with that win VS Japan, we look like we are back to from.

Brasil!!

You know we will win it all... :imouttahe

Ghana, you are next! C'mon Ronaldo!

I saw quite possibly the best game I've ever seen on Thursday night - Australia vs Croatia!! Anyone else watch it? I saw Brazil and Japan afterwards as well and I think the scoreline flattered them - almost as much as England's 2-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago. The Swedes always have great team spirit and I admire how goddamn strong they always are; they deserved to win against us really. Argentina to win still.

uh oh.. word cup fans scuffle with police in germany as i'm typing this..blood all over this one guy, as he is resisting the police..

the german and UK fans are beating the hell out of each other now, its all over the news . peace......BLUE_THUNDER

Correction, please: the German and UK 'HOOLIGANS' beat up each other. No true fan would participate. Hooligans of all nations arrange "business meetings" (brawls) by cellphone and the internet. The game is irrelevant, all that counts is violence. :sowrong:

why does violence seem to erupt during soccer matches?

A number of the fans are a type of Instant Asshole: just add alcohol.
Apart from that, things seem to have been very peaceful to date. A few hundred troublemakers acting up isn't anything to be worried about.

Bringing up WW2 what do you really expect plus the "magical" ingredient alcohol you just know this shits going to happen.

On a much much much better note the performance of Germany; the first 30mins. All I could say was wow - they can beat anyone on this form and with Argentina I say 'limping' past Mexico we have a great shot.

I am very sick and sorry for myself this morning - I started at 6.30 last night and finished at 10.00 this morning, I hate to think of the hangover tomorrow morning.

Netherlands is out. They were clearly afraid of Portugal in the beggining, we could tell by their defensive lines, there were almost no people from midfield on... I believe they still haven't gotten over the 2-0 they suffered in the European championship against Portugal. It was a well disputed game, but it was ugly to watch at some tackles that went on on both sides, and it was the record breaking match in red cards in the world Cup this year...:sowrong: This just goes to show what the pressure can do on the players in the field. England is the next to go, and from the looks of things, only a miracle can save Portugal from failure, at least because we lost an important "pawn" in the game (Deco), as for Costinha, i think he's replaceable, hardly but...

No miracle needed Dario!!!

If we can hold with netherland 10 to 11 and 9 to 10, we can also give a good fight to the british guys 11 to 11.

We will play more or less like against Angola:
The defense is the same and Carvalho/Meira are getting more coordinated as the games pass.
The miedfield will see petit instead of Costinha and this should be ok, he has a good experience of dealing with Gerard this season 😀
Deco will be replaced by Figo playing as playmaker, and Figo seems really well. Simão should take a place in one of the wings and he will be really willing to impress "some" british supporters 😛
I´m more concerned with Cristiano´s injury but seems like it was painfull but not dangerous...we will see!

England has Owen out and Rooney is not that well yet....at least doesn´t seems to be as good as he was in Euro2004 for instance. The rest of the team, only Gerard and Lampard are something special, the rest we can take care off in a good day! Beckam is only good if we give him room to cross...Nuno Valente should be aware of that!

Easy? Nop!!! But we don´t need any miracle! Just to play our best!

Yes indeed!!!.....

.....good to see England giving a good account of themselves on and off the pitch!!

Well Portugal, what can I say? two players sent off and therefore not eligible for the England game,Ronaldo probably out with a severe case of smudged mascara and Figo looking well past his sell by date. We have a good chance to go through to the next round with Portugal in this state.

Blimey what a game! was it 18/19 yellows? and four sent off.

Oh well, thats Johnny forieghner for you.

seeing red

Yeah, I don't think there was any love lost between the Netherlands and Portugal...

As I'm going away for a while (not an asylum- just vacation), I may not have an opportunity to congratulate you again, Red. So congratulations! Your boy Rooney looked like he's pretty well recovered (90 minutes on the pitch and playing hard). And even with Owen out (and few strikers), I think there's a lot of talent on your side. They could even bring Gerard up if need be. At any rate, I wish you the best of luck. And ignore all the naysayers...

Portugal was screwed before the 2-3 red cards. Its gonna end bein germany\Brasil

i disagree i think this is gonna be Argentina's year i think they've got a fantastic team.

And i hate england right but i've noticed the engerland fans on here seem to be overlooking John Terry, he has been that teams stand out performer for all there games. Gerrard is good yes but i think Terry has been for more important.

It looks like Argentina peaked to early, maybe a matter of fitness? No ones laughing at Klinsmann now for his US training staff and fitness policy.........

The fantastic fan support will carry us into the final and who knows what can happen in 90 mins. Klose is the best player thus far and Ballack is just warming up and creating chances. The world will take notice when we get pass Argentina.

Well I thought Australia played very well agains Italy. They seemed to carry the game for the most part. It's too bad they lost....now the city is noisy with happy Italian supporters...

The defensive Swiss lost to the Ukrain. The lost in penalty shots and did not allow any goals in the four games they played. I guess the adage that defence wins championships doesn't hold in this case.

Spain vs France.......now there is a big game.

Hahahaha Australia, never been so happy to see an Italian team win.

Yeah i think you're right Nene... And guess what? I saw today on record site that Cristiano has an 80% chance to play against England, so not all is lost, as long as we play our best! Heck, we played a terrific game in Euro2004 against them, so what are we affraid of? They got a well balanced quality team so do we, they got Beckam, we got Figo... It'll definitly be an outstanding game!

C'mon, England!

I never thought I would say this, but I am actually rooting for France to upset Brazil.

I am worried about France, its like they have just snapped into form hmmm. Only time will tell now.

Two things I said before the World Cup, I hope a South American team doesn't win it, and also I'm hoping a country that has never won before wins it.

Brazil and Argentina are in the quarters and 6 of the 8 teams in the quarters are all past winners minus Uruguay.

GO PORTUGAL!!!!!!!!!!

🙂

No way that France can beat us.

If you ask me, you might as well go ahead and hand us the trophy. =P

E'o Brasil Pais porrada!!

I also feel the same way... I think it's about time to give room to another team to win! Go Portugal! In the name of the few portuguese on the Forum (there's just me and Nenezinho) Thank you! :wavingguy :wavingguy

Wow, Germany beat Argentina... Well done mates! I thought Argentina had it after all that time had passed with a one-nil lead. Germany winning on penalties... *sigh* will it ever end! (just kidding mate!) =P

Now I just pray that England beats Portugal...

When will it all end?? When we are holding up the Cup in Berlin................

When Argentina scored I honestly thought we were finished, being that well Argentina are Argentina can score and defend with the best of them, were I watching the game went silent; tears started flowing as we didn't look the best and when the 80min mark approaching most thought its over.

Soon as Klose put the ball in the back of the net the club went off, people were hugging and kissing complete strangers and the party atmosphere returned, the beer was flowing our national anthem was being chanted by every single person the club was shaking and this was just after we scored.

When extra time came I thought we would win it there just looked like we lifted put when it passed...............we all knew it was down to penalties. Again the crowd at the club when silent so me and my friend (mind you we probably drank at least of the clubs beer by ourselves lol) got our whistles, clapping and chanting DEUTSCHLAND slowly the club got back into it and when put in our first four and they missed two of theirs.......FUCK..........it was the best lol I'm still on a high (not a drug high by the way).

ITALY your next........................
