England Loss on Penalty Kicks.
I can honestly say this is one of the worst days of my life, and I feel like hanging myself. I just cannot understand our squad. Eriksson IS A MORON. We needed a 4-4-2 formation... Rooney, idiotic move, but not a red card offense.
What makes matters worse... I am a Manchester United supporter, and the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo pled the case for Rooney's exit was infuriating. The fact that he is the one who won the game for them on penalties is even worse. I suspect there will be some tension between he and rooney once the season starts back up.
Beckham leaving early, really hurt the team.
I was honestly in tears at the end of the game, as I watched Becks go around and try to console everyone. I really thought this would be our year. On paper, we have one of the strongest sides in the world. I blame the manager, for his poor formation/sub decisions... and will be glad to see him go. I have to put some of the blame on the players as well, for just not getting it done. I think we can all agree that the officiating in this world cup has been rubbish.

I wish to congratulate both teams for today's game, above all it was a highly competitive game, and England once again showed the reason why they're one of the best teams in the whole world. Congratulations England and congratulations Portugal. We all knew that the next team to follow, no matter who she would turn out to be, would represent a tough match, Portugal got France since they won against Brasil, may the best team win... I confess that i never expected France to win like they did, that just goes to show that anything is possible in this World Cup, and that all teams who are a part of it should be respected.

Oh man, I am going to be so confused come tuesday...
both my picks are facing off with each other and I just don't know who to root for. I have loved Italy pretty much since I was as young as 2 so I think I will have to go with Italy. Honestly, they've been playing rather strangely. Sometimes they're on fire and sometimes they're just bumming around. Hopefully they can take it home, but hot damn, if Italy loses, all the goals against them should be by Klose. That guy needs to topple Ronaldo as top scorer in World Cup play.

Penalty shoot outs are always the worse way to lose, but you could tell soon as Beckham left england were in some trouble. I felt bad when they lost I was hoping for a final between us.
The french...........they will be hard to beat but saying that Brasil have been way off their best and most quality teams could of beaten them today.

England paid the price for being average...all my bias aside, they looked good on paper, but to be honest past there starting 11 they looked weak and they hardly set the heather alight with there performances. As i say i have no greivance with english folk...just a couple of the players and the media, Ian Wright was a sight to see. Not seen him like that since the Northern Ireland game. As usual the let the hype go to there heads, all the talk of them walking away with the trophy was once again premature.
And gremio, not bein funny but rooney stamped on the guys balls, right infront of the ref, its a straight red...yes he was provoked but he should rise above that at this level. He really must work on his temper as it tends to make him a liability.
On a side note i have to say Germany look very strong contenders to win the competition now.

I saw on eurosport this morning the new conference were Beckham announced his stepping down as England captain. I was actually upset, his is one of my fav players and seeing how people have turned on him again after all he had done I couldn't help but get a lump in my throat.
Rooney on the other hand has to get wound in and put on a leash by the new coach/captain.
After watching Italy get a dream run; lets be honest for a sec -
1st game - they played Ghana first, they were new to the World Cup and were scared, didn't know what to expect and Italy took advantage of that.
2nd game - they were very very very lucky to even draw with the US and were the US should have had at least one of it players still on the field (talking about the 2 that were sent off).
3rd game - they played a Czech team that was falling apart from injury, fatigue and suspensions. If the US played the same Czech team that game they would on won as-well.
4th game - even though I am not a fan of Australia (even though I live there - thats part of the problem lol anyway) they didn't deserve the penalty - it was a JOKE and they did a job good taking a dive.
5th game - They played a one man team in Ukraine, one man cant do it at this level.
My point is that it makes me sick to hear them say (players, italian media and fans) that Germany had a dream run.............FUCK me we played the cup favourites and came from a goal behind to win on penalties and that was with no bullshit calls that Italy have been given. A bit of fact; Germany hadnt won against a European nation since 2000 and hadnt beaten a top nation since 2000 - they did both in the tournament.
I am not one to rub in a loss but when Italy lose to Germany or in the final I am not going to let these (beep) (beep) (beep) (beeping) (beep) forget it.

I think Germany have played quite well actually, been pleasently surprised by them, I've always rated Klose but i wasnt sure about the rest of the team. Who over wins the semi final between Germany and Italy will win the tournament i think, they are the two strongest teams, Portugal are pretty average and i'm still not sure about France yet.

True true cave in. Klose had such a good season in Germany this year that if he played in every game for Bremen they would of beaten Bayern for the title. I knew he could score goals but how he has set up a relationship with Podolski and how he turned into a provider for the team is quite unbelievable, personally I think he is close to being player of the tournament.

Grrr, the Italians are trying to get Frings framed. Allegedly, he hit some Argentinian in the melee after the game, and they complained to FIFA. The Argentinian player even says he didn't feel any hit.
Always the same game: If the Italians fear they can't beat the other team on the field, they try some off-field tricks to weaken the opponent. Highly unfair, if you ask me.

Ah crap.....my beloved England out of the Cup. You did good guys. Queen and country are proud.
I guess I have to go with Germany now. Good squad, a lot of fight and grit, and it would be nice to see the host country win. What a party that will be.
And alas for my poor American team. We really thought we had a decent team. every time the hype is up, we don't do as well as expected. I guess it's just not our game. I was talking with British friend of mine in Montreal and he brought up a good point. In England, germany, France etc. all the best athletes go into football (soccer). In America, all the best athletes go into the NFL or NBA...and the whiny star-types wind up in baseball.

OK I just read the report and what a joke it was.........first off when the incident happened the referee and the assistants were standing next to Frings (pretty much on top of him) and they took no action. Second the footage came from Italy what a big fucking suprise that is 
and the sentence handed down is bullshit as well "we give you 2 games but you can play in the next one" FIFA get on their hand and knees and wrap their mouth around my ****.
I just Italy falls to their own dirty tricks.........seriously you might see me on the news tomorrow morning.

Congratulations to Italy! They were the better team today, and Lady Luck was on their side, too.
Personally, I'm not unhappy that Germany has lost. The hype and the flagwaving during the last few weeks unnerved me somewhat, not to mention the honking cars and noisy street parties till 4am.

Hardlines to germany but i think Italy were deserved winners, they created the better chances the longer the game went on, second goal was classic Italy, hitting hard on the counter attack.
I think italy will win the competition regardless of who wins the other semi final, because i thought that germany and italy were the strongest two teams out of the four left. They could do with some cheer considering all the scandal going on with Juventus and all that

Oh the irony..........England's "superstar" midfield choked and wait it gets better the "golden boy" ronney does nothing but make himself look like a spoilt child *cough* 'overrated'. He took me home before I could start much trouble and it worked for the most part.....so I decided to wait a few days and calm down a bit. Germany stopped playing in the last 90 seconds, big mistake and they got burnt from it, again the ref played a one sided game in favor of the Italians and it showed.
The final now who cares...........the 3rd place play-off is what I'm more interested in, to see how they bounce back.
Euro '08 is what this team is built for, the absence of 1 starter and 2 impact players in this German squad showed...this experience will make them stronger as a team.
The show of national spirit by the German public was unbelievable, during the national anthem you could fell the pride and passion from the players and the supporters it was truly wonderful to see. The effects were actually seen in Sydney were the German community (not only me) came out in a sea of Black, Red and Yellow during the matches.....pity it is looked down upon by some.
