C'mon, Celtic, give Batista some props. He has come a loooong way since 2002, and his ring work is getting much better. This man is a beast. People are sick of seeing HHH with the belt. It is sad this man has to use politics, marry the boss's daughter to keep the belt around his waist.
And come to think of it, let us look at his history. he has needed help in every one of his matches to get wins. When was the last clean victory he had without outside assistance?? can't think of one, can ya?
And besides, the numbers have not increased whenever he was champion. They need the numbers to climb, and a way to do that is to have him drop the belt. The main reason is this, because if someone else were champion, there is an air of uncertainty, because the element anticipation is there because we don't know if the title will change or not. With HHH as champion, there is no surprise. We know he'll keep the title from some bullshit means, so people won't watch, because we can smell the outcome a mile away.
Next reason is, HHH used to pride himself on making other people better for the betterment of the company. Now all he cares about is himself. Stone Cold or The Rock never acted like that, neither did the Undertaker. HHH has forgotten what made him great, and his ringwork is suffering because of it
For all you JBL fans: he is the worst champion WWE has ever had. His ringwork is sloppy, he has no technique whatsoever, and this asshole has the audacity to call himself a "wrestling god"? Any of you could wrestle better than this clown. I don't see what the hell Vince sees in this assclown. He is nothing more than a poor man's Ted DiBiase, and even DiBiase in his sleep can do better than this jerk.
One question for all of you: What is the purpose of hyping up men like Cena, Batista, Benoit, etc and not let them run with the ball?? How the hell can you know what they can do unless you go do it??
OK, I'm off my soapbox now, but anxiously awaiting Celtic's answer
Thats all an act though with Triple H, and JBL for that matter. Its what he's paid to do and he does it well. Its not that he CAN'T wrestle, its just unfortunately not in his script.
We tend to forget its all staged anyway and forget that people like Triple H and JBL are being PAID to look a certain way or to look not good enough, or too good, etc. This varies wrestler for wrestler according to how things are written.
Also, I have given Batista props. He is a talent. But as a presense, he would not have one if not for these pushes. People like Triple H, the Undertaker, the Rock, etc, come up with their own gimmick and that alone takes a life-force of it's own and legitimizes who they are in the ring, even if the script tells a different story or doesn't back them up.
That leaves Batista with the only thing he has at this point and time- physical prowess. Unless Batista can be given more depth or come up with it on his own, I think a win at WM, for him, is just an appeasement rather than something that really ought to happen, or would for that matter in the normal flow of how the business works.
These people get paid to make you hate them or love them. Thats part of their contract, albeit not necessarily in writing.
And then of course theres the logic of "why build up a story to not see it through"? Well, they are seeing it through. Just because it doesn't happen the way some fans want it to doesn't mean it was not followed through to conclusion. As others have said, there are reasons to leave Triple H with the belt.
You said "people are sick of see HHH with the belt". Whose "people"? Surely its not the majority, more like a fraction, just as it would be for people, for whatever reason, would want Triple H to win.
Maybe people want Triple H to win and maybe he will for a reason that makes more sense than we can currently comprehend or understand. They make the scripts and such in advance. Maybe this isn't really about Triple H at all, but rather someone other than Batista.
Perhaps WM will be nothing more than a stepping stone for Batista. Hunter may be full of himself, but as a professional, he's never had a problem with giving someone a push when they needed it.
But losing the belt isn't some prerequisite. Its more like showmanship. Think of it that way. Maybe the whole point of this match will be merely for Batista to show Triple H up.
Think about it, maybe its better if Batista loses, but JUST barely. There will be more fire behind this feud and future chances for Batista to get the belt if he doesn't win it here.
Wrestlemania is just as well known for creating character, honor, dishonor, and many other attributes in wrestlers that fans look for, as it is known for as a default platform where championship titles change hands.
Sometimes, just making a name for yourself, beating the best, and showing everyone who you are, creating controversy...or even losing and getting a standing ovation anyway is more important that actually getting the gold.
If Batista wins, I won't have a problem with it, however.
But he'd better develop more personality and individuality. I see him turning into a Bill Goldburg character. That TYPE of wrestler is out of date. Dave Batista has to, needs to be more than that.
