For the first time in 15 or so years, I did not watch WrestleMania. My love of WWE has waned in the last year or so, to the point where I barely even keep up with what goes on.

I am curious as to what people thought about the show who did see it. Was it a true WrestleMania, or just a regular PPV with more pyro?

Unfortunetly could not afford WrestleMania this year. But due to the dope people here that I talk to, and WWE.com and a pretty decent idea of how it works I heard enough about it, So I shall give my opinion anyways. 😉

Yes, My lack in the WWE has gone down as well, Just as quickly as their roster list has seemed to drop. The storylines are struggling, and you can just SEE Vince turning over rocks in hope to find some sort of inspiration.

Quite Sad for a man who has brought many an explosive storylines to the fans. But I Digress...

Triple Threat Match: Randy Orton def. John Cena and Triple H (Orton retains WWE Title): Basic enough, One could possibly see the outcome of this happening, But not wanting to admit it..(John Cena AND HHH? Be STILL my beating HEART..) We need a better focus on the heels for right now, Although annoying and tedious..they provide enough of a chance to build off of, Everyone wanted/was expecting at least one of the two to destroy Randy. Vince pulled his normal 'good card' out for that by smashing our hopes into the ground so we can tune in for another X amount of months untill one of them wins.

The Undertaker def. World Heavyweight Champion Edge (New Champion): Simple Again, 'Taker WILL NOT DIE and he is CLEARLY not ready for Retirement ! ('Taker fans breathe a collective sigh of relief we have at least another solid year with the dead man!! :bowing:)

Floyd "Money" Mayweather def. Big Show (Knockout): Ratings match, Vince simply trying to bait new viewers and bring Big Show back in easily, Great way to 'shake off' the ring rust. I have no interest in these, they rarely hold solid bearing to the future of a storyline.

Shawn Michaels def. Ric Flair (Career Threatening Match): Now THIS match will forever go down in my mind as an 'Epic' and I am sure a lot of you WWE fans will agree with me. At risk of repeating what 5000 other people have already went on about, I will simply (and Shortly 😉) Echo their sentiments: Ric Flair will always be a legend, He has fought and worked his ass off for years, and years and I couldn't think of a better person for him to finish up(Almost, as always) with (Besides perhaps TripleH) Then the heartbreak kid! This match will definetly forever be in our hearts. Whooooo!!!

JBL def. Finlay in a Belfast Brawl: Another one that doesn't hold much with me. Just a 'Almost anything goes match' ..Simply put, 'Warming Up The Crowd'.. Not that interested. (Does not mean I don't think Finlay is a power house! Just a shame that don't have him doing a bit more. ENOUGH WITH THE HORNSWAGGLE GIG! :sowrong:)

CM Punk wins the Money in the Bank Ladder Match: I do not need Storm or Excess hunting me down, So I shall keep this one quick as well: CM deserved it, Vince obviously feels Jericho is not ready yet.

CM PUNK > Y2J :devil2:

SmackDown vs. Raw: Batista def. Umaga: Perfect example of why it's obvious Vince is running out of ideas.. Third pointless overall match with two 'great' wrestlers. (Mmm..Animal. :cool2:) This was just made for a few more minutes of mic time in the future..Decent to watch once, That is all.

Beth Phoenix & Melina def. Ashley & Maria in the BunnyMania Lumberjack Match: OK, Bad Idea to get a broad like me trying to calmly NOT rip this whole thing to shreds, But I shall try my damndest not to explode into a Tangent about how USELESS the Divas are to the WWE, Besides being a bloated titted, overtly tanned, and caked up with make up form of 'amusement' for the Men. Melina and Beth Pheonix along with like.. 2 others are the ONLY females who are 'Legitimate' Wrestlers in my opinion. They aren't just about prancing around the ring in their underwear. They have TALENT and POTENTIAL from the Get Go. Point Blank: The best definetly did win.

Attention: These are MY opinions, Everyone elses is more than likely going to be different, So don't jump all up in my shit just because you slightly disagree. I know what the rush of seeing men smash into each other does to a man's Testosterone Level. 😉 😀

Thanks. 🙂

For the first time in 15 or so years, I did not watch WrestleMania. My love of WWE has waned in the last year or so, to the point where I barely even keep up with what goes on.

Drew & I don't watch much any more either. The writing has gotten more and more lazy. There are no new story lines, just reworking of the same tired old ones. To charge the kind of money they're asking for what usually amounts to be the same old stuff is silly. We don't take time to watch the free shows any more. Why would we pay to see the same basic show?

Vince needs to break out the patented "You're FIIIIRED!" and get some new writers if he hopes to keep the empire alive.

I thought WMXXIV was worth the money. It's a lot of money, and I probably wont PAY for another PPV until the end of the summer, but it was good. Their team did a great job with the setup and it looked damn good once it got dark. The crowd was live and there was no rain, or any of the speculated interuptions from TNA.

The JBL/Finlay match kicked things off. Hornswoggle came out with Finlay and the crowd went crazy. I don't know what the hell every see in him. The match was a good way to get the crowd warmed up and I was glad to see JBL win, even if it was unexpected.

The MITB was the match of the night. John Morrison and Shelton Benjamin were the stars of this match. We saw a Walls of Jericho on the ladder, along with Carlito's backstabber move. One of the highlights was when Matt Hardy came through the crowd to keep MVP from winning the match. He hit him with a 'twist of fate' of the ladder. I thought there were better people who could've won the match. I just don't see CM Punk being that good yet.

Umaga v. Batista was nothing special. Batista winning wasn't a surprise, but he almost couldn't get Umaga up for the 'Batista Bomb.' At least this match kept Batista out of the World Title Match.

Kane beat Chavo in :09 seconds. I was hoping someone else would face Chavo and we would see a good match, but Kane is the man.

HBK v. Ric Flair was the saddest match I've ever seen. It was exactly what you would expect from these two, and it will forever be remembered. This is the match that this WrestleMania will forever be remembered for. I think the 'E did a very good job with this storyline and match. WrestleMania is supposed to leave us with moments we'll never forget and this was it.

The BunnyMania match was okay. I liked seeing Snoop there. This wasn't a bad match, but I would rather see a one-on-one match for the Women's Title. Oh yeah, and the lights went out during this match and they had to use the backup lighting. Snoop clotheslining Santino after the match was pretty funny.

The Triple Threat for the WWE Title wasn't the last match, which was a surprise. An even bigger surprise was Randy Orton getting the win. The match didn't disappoint.

Floyd Mayweather v. Big Show was enjoyable. I don't care if it's fake or not, I took pleasure in seeing Mayweather get his ass whooped. I was hoping for a Big Show win but I knew better. Mayweather's involvement definently got the WWE the publicity it wanted.

Edge v. Taker closed the show. After seeing HBK/Flair and the other title match this match seemed anti-climatic. The match picked up late and turned out okay. Even though everyone knew Taker would win, they did a good job of making us think Edge might win. Edge taped out to that Triangle Chokehold that Taker does, but I would've rather seen a tombstone cause the victory.

Two other things. Kim Kardashian is fine as hell. Also, they announced that Wrestlemania XXV would be in Houston next year. It'll be the 25th anniversary so we should see some extra-special things.

I gladly shelled out the $55 for WrestleMania and it was an enjoyable night overall from where I stand.

The best (IMO):
1. Flair/Michaels match. Especially the ending. Shawn Michaels knew he had Flair dead to rights and the way he put down Old Yeller was truly emotional. "I'm sorry...I love you" BAM!!! Sweet chin music. 1...2...3.
2. Cena NOT winning the title and also actually being the one that got pinned. Fuck Cena.
3. Mayweather/Big Show NOT stinking up the joint. This match was actually pretty entertaining...although completely unbelievable.

The worst (Again, IMO):
1. The ECW title match. I was pleasantly surprised that this match didn't curtain jerk (open) the show, but my hopes that this match wouldn't be a throwaway were quickly dashed when it lasted less than 10 seconds. Chavo and Kane should have been shown more respect and given more time. But I am excited for Kane. His first world title reign since his 1-day reign in 1998.
2. Power Outage. Thank God they got it fixed in time for the matches that mattered. Upon further review, this might actually deserve to be listed under 'the best' section because it was a blessing that the power went out during the BunnyMania clusterfuck!
3. Cena's Entrance. It was a kinda cool iand definitely unique dea, but came off a little lame because the band wasn't that loud and the entrance didn't have the same energy as usual.

So overall, in my opinion WM24 was not as entertaining as WM23, but was more satisfying considering Cena finally jobbed on the grandest stage of them all and Smackdown got the main event slot for the first time since WM19.

The whole handling of flair and this retirement still stings me as smug and spite from vince against WCW\interests built not by himself and i'll say why

A proper way to end flairs career wasnt wrestlemania. If anything, they should have held the ppv or had him retire in north carolina

The HOF induction was brutal, why was Hunter inducting him? If anyone, it shoulda been Arn anderson or Ole or other countless horsemen legends who also should be in but again, not created by vince so he doesnt care.

This match should have been main event or near main event, instead its an insult to have mayweather and the diva's garbage after it

TNA Forever

I've watched 14 Wrestlemanias and this was the worst. IMHO there were only three matches worth watching: Money in the Bank, Undertaker vs. Edge, and Flair vs. Michaels. Everything else could've been shown on Raw or Smackdown. There was nothing transformative or electrifying about the other matches. We've seen Batista/Umaga before and the triple threat match was good but I saw a better one on ECW just a couple of weeks ago. Mayweather/Big Show was just too gimmicky and over the top. As far as the Divas go; I wold take Gail Kim, ODB and my future ex-wife Awesome Kong and they would whoop the whole Diva roster. Beth Phoenix is my favorite Diva because she's thick, mean and can actually wrestle.

Undertaker vs. Edge surprised me in the pacing, psychology and the overall chain wrestling ability of both guys. I don't like Edge's persona but he can put on a show. I love how Undertaker uses MMA style moves in his matches. I practiced Jujitsu for seven years and could never apply a gogoplata. Taker is about fifteen years older than me, and is twice as limber. Taker has my utmost admiration and respect.

I actually wept when Flair lost. All the kids my age were Hulkamaniacs and I was throwing up 4 fingers. They were talking about saying prayers and eating vitamins and I was talking about Armani, Rolex, and Rolls-Royce. When I was nine I dressed as Flair for Halloween. Picture this: an overweight Negro child with Coke-bottle glasses, wearing a blond wig and my mom's old bathrobe adorned with feather boas and glue-on costume gems. I strutted around reciting all the catchphrases. I thought I was stylin and profilin but I looked a hot mess. It was fun though. I will miss Flair.

This Wrestlemania just left me feeling flat and bored. WWE's writing has fallen off and the workers are just uninspiring. I only watch TNA now.

From what I read online, this years Wrestlemania didn't sound all that hot. All the wrestling sites announced weeks ago that Ric Flair would be retiring at this ppv, so no surprise there. And NO title change?? What's up with that??
$54.99 to see Randy Orton KEEP the belt?? Wrestlemania was always about title changes and the start of new storylines.
Plus most of last night matches will probably be on tonight and Friday. That irritates the sh*t out of me. You pay for the matches then the next night, they try to generate excitement about rematches!
The WWE needs to get back to making Wrestlemania more of a spectacle, with surprises, more celebrities, more old-timers getting involved, maybe a street fight or two.

Last night sounded like just another Monday Night Raw.

I enjoyed it. the Flair match was my favorite. the money in the bank match was good too, as well as the Edge/Taker match. although my favorite part of the night was the commercial where Carlito fought the bird. anyone hear about the fireworks that went off into the audience at the end? i saw it on the news. looks like possible law suits. although noone was seriously hurt.

1. What the hell are you complaining about? Flair left the company for a little while at the end of last year because of the direction things were going. The 'retirement' storyline was pitched to him and he liked it upon his return.

2. He and Triple H are friends. He could chose whoever the hell he wanted to. And correct me if I'm wrong, but Ric Flair wasn't created by Vince. They did a good job with this storyline building up to 'Mania.

3. It's said that Flair was offered the Main Event but turned it down in favor of the title match. If Flair is okay with how things went then how can anyone else complain?

Anyone watch the Flair tribute at the end of Raw? i was weeping like a little bitch.

Hey Tomskee, Slavertickler is probably mad at Ric Flair because Ric might have done something to his precious Bret Hart. He's Canadien, so he's still bitter about Montreal 1997, with his "hero" getting "screwed" by Vince. Everyone else on the planet has moved on from Montreal 1997, but not certain Canadiens. Ric Flair has no idea who Slavertickler is, so it is not personal. Somehow, Bret Hart was screwed again....

Anyways, here is my thoughts on Wrestlemania 24. First of all, I can't believe it's the 24th Wrestlemania. The first one I ever paid attention to was Wrestlemania 2 when Hogan took on King Kong Bundy. Damn, time flies.

Finley vs JBL:

I always liked JBL. He is pretty entertaining on the microphone and I like the character. This match had some moments like when Finley jump threw the ropes only to get hit on the head with a trash can lid. I couldn't stop laughing off of that. What was also funny was when JBL threw a trashcan at Hornswaggle. Overall, it was an okay match. I hope they do something with JBL's character because they are in a desperate need for a strong heel.

Kane vs Chavo Guerrero:

Damn, that was it? Oh well. Goes to show you what Vince thinks of his own ECW brand to have their title match only 9 seconds long. They really need to combine all the brands again... I am glad to see Kane win the title though. He deserves it.

Money in the Bank:

This match was great! Talk about high moments! I think Shelton Benjamin deserves a push, just for going throw that ladder. I wondered if he was still alive! The guys in this match gave fans something to remember. I thought MVP would win, but I guess not. CM Punk winning was okay, but I thought Jericho, or even MVP would win. They need to push MVP more. He's actually not that bad.

Umaga vs Batista:

Gee, we didn't see that Batista win coming did we? This match was very bland and it was funny watching Batista almost blow the powerbomb. That match was the match when you get your pizza and drinks.

The Bunny match:

Honestly, I watched this match to see Snoop and Santino. Santino is absolutely hilarious. Too bad he's not good in the ring, because I like his persona. I like the Divas and I thought they put on a decent show. Maria has been improving as a wrestler, but Ashley needs a LOT of work. Not a bad match. It would have been fun to see them tickle each other, but we can only dream right? I guess I just have to write my wrestling series to see that....

Ric Flair vs HBK:

Easily the best match of the night. I am probably one of the biggest Hulk Hogan fans ever and I will always ALWAYS ALWAYS be a Hulkamaniac. But, Ric Flair is a true legend. The man had it all. Charisma, talent and easily the most enduring stars of all time. My man Hogan doesn't hold a candle to Flair's in ring ability. Ric Flair is and always be "THE MAN". Who hasn't seen used his catchphrases? Who hasn't said "WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" in their lives?

The way they ended the match was good. HBK putting the Sweet Chin Music to Flair and the way he did it was very emotional. If there was one match that Vince wanted you to feel emotional over a match, it was this one. Ric Flair and HBK showed everyone why they are who they are and put on a hell of a show. If it wasn't for the fact that I was around some of my boys, I would have teared up at the end. To see the standing ovation and see Flair in tears was heart wrenching. Thinking about it now gets me emotional. The man is truly a living legend.

Triple Threat Match:

Wow, I didn't see that coming! I figured Triple H would win because he is due. It's been 2 years since he has been champ, so it was time. At worst it was going to be Cena. By the way, why don't MEN like Cena? I know the women do, but Cena is cool to me. Good ring work, good charisma, what's up with the hate?

But seeing Randy win stunned all of us in the room watching. I never expected that and don't you think you always can guess what Vince will do? Vince can surprise you sometimes. It sucks because Orton is still the champ. Oh well.....

Floyd Mayweather vs The Big Show:

Gee, who couldn't predict this one? Think about it. This is scripted wrestling and Mayweather is a professional fighter. They were not going to have him lose. We all know if this was reality, Mayweather would be either in Intensive Care, or dead. There is no way in the world he can beat a man what seems like 50 times bigger than him.

I will give Mayweather a lot of props. For him to take the bumps he did, he did a pretty good job. I don't think he will go around saying how "fake" wrestling is. I think he learned just how physical "scripted" wrestling is and how hard you have to work just to avoid being seriously injured. I knew he wasn't going to take any serious bumps, but for what he did, I think he did well.

Undertaker vs Edge:

Okay match, but loved the ending. I am in agreement that Undertaker should have won on the Tombstone, but oh well. Taker won his title back and this time, barring injury, should have a good title reign.

I do like Edge. Edge is a terrific wrestler and a good heel character. I don't like the Vickie Guerrero angle, but I guess that's showbiz.

Overall, I thought it was pretty good. I noticed that it was more RAW based than any other brands. They should do what they did before and combine the brands. That way, they can build up better characters and storylines. They can keep the 3 shows, but they really need to combine.

1. What the hell are you complaining about? Flair left the company for a little while at the end of last year because of the direction things were going. The 'retirement' storyline was pitched to him and he liked it upon his return.

3. It's said that Flair was offered the Main Event but turned it down in favor of the title match. If Flair is okay with how things went then how can anyone else complain?

1. As i said the handling. A more appropriate place to end would be in NC
2. Yes they are friends but so is he with Jim Ross, who'd be more fitting to do a farewell since they worked closely for so long, but if flair chose Hunter then so be it. But until i see\proof is shown that he chose, i will keep my reservations
3. Sources? Also thats debatable if he is\was ok with things, for fucks sake he wouldnt even be wrestling still if not for that horrid divorce he went thru

Tonight's Flair tribute was very nicely done. I'll be a little sad to see them turn the SM-Flair match into just part of a storyline later.

Wonder tho where Ole was
I thought it was pretty general knowledge that Ole Anderson has been avoiding the business for years, and that he and Flair have had friction.

1. As i said the handling. A more appropriate place to end would be in NC
I believe Flair himself wanted to go out at Mania - the biggest show in the business.

2. Yes they are friends but so is he with Jim Ross, who'd be more fitting to do a farewell since they worked closely for so long, but if flair chose Hunter then so be it. But until i see\proof is shown that he chose, i will keep my reservations
Short of an autobio from Flair or Levesque I don't see how you'll ever get this proof, but I can't see them doing it in any way but Flair's choice.

Well, I leave for 24 hours, and all this happens? 😀

Glad to see so many people enjoyed it. One of my best friends watched it, and said it was one of the better WM's in a while. He's notoriously hard to please, so that's saying something.

I taped Raw, but haven't watched it yet. The Flair tribute looks good.

I agree that Arn should have been the one to induct Flair, but considering HHH didn't leave Mania with the belt, I'll live.

---

Does anyone else think you should be able to order PPV's by the match? I wasn't going to shell out $55 for the whole show, but I'd have parted with $20 to see Money in the Bank / Flair v. HBK and Undertaker v. Edge.

me and you both. I almost pissed myself when the Horseman came out.

The tribute was pretty awesome. But I thought it would have been that much better if McMahon came out during the show (he did after they went off the air) and I also kept hoping and praying that WWE would have somehow brought in Sting for one night just to pay tribute. I mean, they were in Orlando; TNA's home base. Can you imagine how insane that crowd would have gone had Sting showed up? Especially considering how he has always said he will never work for WWE.

Ric Flair is the GREATEST WRESTLER OF ALL TIME!!!! As emotional as his last match was, why can`t they let him win ???!!!
