Wrestlemania thoughts?

Possible running order for WWE WrestleMania 25 tomorrow night
Saturday April 4, 2009 BY Phil Lowe

Several readers have sent word that a running order for WWE’s WrestleMania 25 PPV tomorrow night was put out by Australian cable company Foxtel.

According to a release put out today, the running order for Mania would be as follows:

- JBL vs. Rey Mysterio for the Intercontinental title
- Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Christian vs. Finlay vs. Mark Henry vs. MVP vs. Kane vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. CM Punk vs. Kofi Kingston
- Gauntlet Match: Chris Jericho vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Jimmy Snuka (w/ Ric Flair and Mickey Rourke)
- John Morrison and The Miz vs. Carlito and Primo Colon in a tag title unification match
- Extreme Rules Match: Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy
- 25-Diva Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal
- World Heavyweight Championship Match: John Cena vs. Edge © vs. The Big Show
- Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker
- WWE Title Match: Randy Orton vs. Triple H

We heard yesterday that Rey vs. JBL was going to be opening the show, but I find it hard to believe that WWE would run with the final three matches in that order. I was expecting to see the triple threat matches on earlier in the card.

I may well be wrong and this could be the final order for tomorrow night’s show, but it may well be that WWE put something out to cable companies etc. earlier in the week without it being the finalised running order.

I guess we’ll see tomorrow night!

Tag-title Unification: The Colons won the match prior to the show going live on PPV. I guess there were time concerns. I've read that they had a really good match.

Money in the Bank: Kofi and Shelton were the highlights. I didn't want to see CM Punk win. I'm not too excited to see where this goes. I somewhat expected Punk to cash in tonight.

Miss WrestleMania: Kid Rock did a nice job performing. This match was what we expected. Was was the point of having past diva's if that weren't announced. I could barely make any of them out. The highlight was seeing Santino win. I'm guessing he'll wear that sash tomorrow on Raw.

Jericho v. Legends: Steamboat looked good. His interaction with Jericho was great. I'm glad Jericho got the victory. I was hoping Rourke would climb to the top rope. His entrance into the ring was a little drawn out.

Hardy v. Hardy: A little disappointed that it didn't go on longer. I expected more for some reason. Jeff's bump on his ass was sick. Taking the twist-of-fate on that chair was sicker. Matt won and I'm guessing we'll see another extreme-rules match between the two in the future.

Intercontinental match: Rey won in 20-seconds. Then JBL quit. Rey came out looking like the offspring of the Joker and Doink the Clown.

Undertaker v. HBK: Match of the night. Probably going to receive MOTY. I literally jumped from my seat when Shawn kicked out of the tombstone. Excellent match and this match made this WrestleMania more special than it would've been. 'Taker jumping out of the ring and landing on his head was scary. Glad he's okay.

World Title Match: Cena won, as if we didn't see that coming. Okay match. You'd expect more at WrestleMania. I don't like Cena, but I look forward to his entrances. 50-or-so Cena's lined the aisle on his way out. Too bad he had to win. I hope they replace that horrible looking WWE title.

WWE Title Match: Not what I expected. I had high expectations for this match. Maybe Taker/HBK should've closed. This match just didn't feel special to me. And HHH winning didn't help anything. Not WrestleMania quality.

Overall: I thought it was a bit underwhelming. I guess I expected too much. Taker/Michaels made the show. MITB was good as usual. I don't think certain matches were bad, they just didn't meet expectation. I just didn't feel the feeling that WM 24, or even WM 23, had. Hopefully WrestleMania 26 is good. The WWE missed opportunities with this one. Apparently Shawn has said that WM 26 will be it for him. If that's the case I guess we'll see Shawn v. HHH next year.

Heh , It's amazing how The Undertaker and HBK are the ones stealing the show and they started wrestling 20 years ago . So much for the WWE making big stars today

That Taker/HBK match was the show...period. I couldn't count how many times that match was supposed to be over, but they kept finding ways to kick out. Excellent match.

Overall, it was ok, seeing it live I guess I have a different outlook. HHH/Orton was disappointing, and like you guys, I didn't want Cena to win. You guys noticing that everytime Edge has the belt, the reign isn't a particularly long one??

the divas match was a waste, and the IC match was a joke. otherwise not bad, but could be much better

Did you see a fight break out? There was one point where everyone in camera view was looking away from the ring. I'm guessing it was a fight.

I thought taker snapped his neck when he did that pencil dive over the top rope onto the floor.

I thought the same thing. Looking at it again, it looked like the camera man got hit pretty hard and kept Taker from landing on the top of his head. It was scary seeing it though.

They built up the Orton\Hunter feud for months to end like that? Man this style of booking is worse than Hogan ran things

Tonight will be some controversy to try and fire Orton or something and then Orton showing how Hunter used the sledgehammer, some crap like that

I'm pretty damn well shocked that Punk won the MiTB again. I thought for sure that they were going to give the rub to someone else. Exactly who, I wasn't sure, but not Punk. Glad to hear that Taker/HBK lived up to the hype. Not that I didn't expect it to. Those two are still the greatest, even after all these years.

Like I said its pretty sad on the WWE's part as far as creating new stars that they failed so bad that the only two guys who created memories from this WM started out 20 years ago .

I'm just watching RAW right now, the big 5 man wrestlemania match is fixing to start.....

I am surprised that CM Punk didn't cash in. But I guess they want to keep the face image. A shame. A nice brief case to the head and a deal with Edge or Big Show for a instant title shot would have been a good turn.

Also, I just had a friend call me and invite me to go to RAW with him next week here in Atlanta.

I may go.

I was watching that match as well , I gotta say I am really impressed with Steamboat guy is in his 60s and he hasnt missed a beat

You know I just realized.....I REALLY, REALLY cant stand Vicki G. She like totally messed up on live TV, forgot a line and they had to "wheel" her back out there. I understand being nice to her and all after the tragedies of her family...but COME ON. I mean Eric Bischoff was 10 times better than her at acting and being a good "BAD GM".

You should definently go. Being there live enhances the experience. I went to Raw in December, I'm going at the end of July and I'll be going to the Survivor Series if they indeed hold it here.

I'm not too excited about Punk's victory. It would be nice if he informed everyone that he would be cashing in his MITB at WrestleMania 26. That would interest me if that were the case.

I must admit....this Santina kick is FREAKING FUNNY AS HELL!!!!

They need to keep this going till backlash. This is HUMOR!!!

She still got great heat.
