Brock Lezner, Shelton Benjamin, and Charlie Haas were All American grapplers in Colleage, as were Rick, & Scott Stiener durin there days at Michagan State, and both Bret and Owen Hart were high school wrestling champions, Owen got a scolar ship for his wrestling skills, and Bret was Calgary Amature Champ. Jim "The Anvil" Niedhart, "Flyin'" Brian Pillman, "Big Cat" Earnie Lad, and Brashaw (of the apa) were all pro Foot ball players. Both Ken Shamrock and Dan Severin were UFC Champions. Last but not least there is that guy who won the Gold medal at the Olympic in 1996... Kurt Angle.

Nah, there's not an Athleat or tough guy in pro wrestling.

Its funny how Tron talks a lot of trash, knowing if he ever were to get in the ring with one of them, he'd be tapping out in less than ten seconds: and it would be against a preliminary wrestler!! The only way to shut up non believers about wrestling would be to put them in the ring against them. They come to Chicago alot, and sometimes I would see them work out before a show, so, Tron, if you have any balls, and I doubt you do, come down when they're in town and see what ya got. ANYONE behind a computer can claim he's strong and can beat anyone, but for all i know, he could be a 5'2", 120 pound guy with a big mouth. he could be 6'9" and 310 pounds, we dont know. but for some reason, he thinks by him writing that he can beat a pro wrestler, we all would be in awe at his greatness. it is funny how he said he was a pro athlete. well Neutron, which team did you play for? if you tell us, how will we find out your identity? so go ahead and fill us in, mr athlete. you also made some silly comment that you can still compete in the NFL today. you would be crushed by those athletes. would position do you play? c'mon mr tough guy, let us know.

as for wrestlers being non athletes. see, that's where we know you are just running off at the mouth and dont really know anything. guys like Kurt Angle, Goldberg, Steiner, Ron Simmons, Bradshaw, etc, played professional sports. did they become non athletes once they got to the WWE? you make no sense, and i already know Kurt Angle would make you tap. he's a damn Olympic gold medalist. oh, i forgot, you can beat him too......yeah, right..... so keep running off at the mouth as we laugh at your claims knowing full well you would get your ass kicked by a pro-wrestler. prove us wrong. call Kurt Angle, or Brock Lesnar and set it up. you wont, we know that.

I think it is always sad when someone dies. What bothers me is all the wrestlers dying in the last ten years. In stu hart case, maybe you can old age, but not in bulldog, hennings, pillman, big dick dudley, one of the west texas rednecks, and others! One of the many things i do not get is why are only some dying? What i mean is, why is it younger guys are dropping but older guys who had it harder are still around. Terry funk with all his injuries must of did drugs. What aobut the nature boy and hulk hogan? These guys are older than hawk, yokozuna and others but they survive. Is it thatthey took better care of themselves young or is it partly luck? Also how bad does the drinking come into play. i live in philly and i often heard tales of wrestling fans going into bars for a drink and seeing ECW's own SANDMAN drinking. It makes me wonder if the drinking plays a major role.

Also at these training facilities, what do they reallytrain. I am sure theyteach you to use a mike, and be hardcore but do they teach you how to survive road life. Do they teach young guys how to survive temptations? That is whatthey should teach.

I just read this post a few minutes ago and to the guy that started this thread, i am sorry you did not make it to the big leagues. ECW was special when it performed at viking hall every week. I always thought the downfall of ECw was going national. They stopped being strong in South Philly where they owned the market. anyway this is a great topic. i just wish things could be done to take better care ofthese athletes so they livel onger and can wrestle a long time.

I don't think Tron's all mouth and no trousers, he genuinely believes it. He believes because the result of a wrestling match is pre-determined, that all the guys are non-athletes and crap at fighting and he genuinely believes he could take any one of them in any contest.

Fact: There's not a human on the planet who can beat Kurt Angle at Greco-Roman wrestling, when he's on his game, like he was at Atlanta in 96. Brock Lesnar may have been a college wrestler, but that's not much to be honest. How much difference is there between your average champion footballer in college and the best guy who ever set a record in the final of the Superbowl? A galaxy of difference is what.

Tron is probably pretty handy at hand-to-hand because of his training in the navy. I don't think he was a SEAL or anything, but I gather he was more than just an average Jack-tar. Maybe he COULD take any of the guys, but that isn't the issue.

Wrestling training camps mostly consist of running spots (sequences of holds and moves) and perfecting the break-fall. Stuff like cutting promos and how to entertain on the mic is up to the individual wrestler to work out himself. (Or herself.) There isn't even much weight or CV training at a wrestling camp. That stuff can be done in the guy's own spare time, wherever his local gym is. Learning to look half-way fluent and credible in the ring takes up all the time at most wrestling training sessions I've been to.

You shouldn't get upset by the things Neutron says. The guy is full of a lot of bluster and bravado. I remember he once said that he was going to rejoin the NFL and that no twenty-something could hurt him. At that point I no longer took him seriously. He himself has said that he likes to say things to stir things up. To tell you the truth, I think he is a very humorous person.

Now I do have to agree that wrestlers are not athletes. This is not to say that they do not do some dangerous things and they do have to be skilled, but I would put them in the category of stunt men and not athletes. I would not put them in the same categories as football and basketball players who play a sport whoose outcome is not predetermined.

Just curious, does anyone have any knowledge of Neutron being an ex NFL athlete and a Navy Seal other than the fact that he has said so. Big Jim, maybe you know, since you definately don't strike me as someone who just takes someone's word for it.

On this occasion, that's exactly what I did. It's the same with most members here. I take Steve's word that he is ex army and ex-police force, I take Ann's word that she's a catholic and Dave's word that he's an experienced swordsman who's done Katana for over a decade. Tron didn't actually use the word "SEAL" to be fair. He said something along the lines of he'd done time in the Navy which had included "special ops". He wasn't any more specific than that.

Of course, I could be the 5'4", 140lb supermarket shelf stacker and you just didn't suspect yet. 😉
