am I the only one here who suspects this?

It wouldn't surprise me that this takes place around here, the anyominity of the internet brings the crazy out in some people. I've been confused for being a guy (remember Izzy?) quite a few times around here. I have no idea why anyone would think little-ol-me would be anything but female :jester: .

It's not just the guys either; I know a couple of chicks who use male screennames in the P&R forum. When they posted as female, they were either ignored or blown away from all the testosterone over there. As soon as they started posting as guys, they got quotes and much more respect. Such a shame it has to be that way, but I've gotten the same treatment and know how it feels to be not listened to just because you're female.

o lord kis..yes i do remember that lololol...i wasn't very good with screen names back then...i should have known someone with the nick kis would be female...and despite that, we got thru those differences...hmm it was about me being called sweetie right? lol..

If you are asking a woman to understand the male mind. you may be waiting awhile... 😛

they understand us as much as we understand them.

Yeah, you're probably right....

Gotta keep trying to understand em, though..... I just wanna make sure its really a woman I'm trying to understand, and not an "imposter TMF female" who is really a "man" posing as a "lady".....

It was one of those stupid gender bending testosterone-laden threads in the P&R forum and someone was giving you grief about something. I was in a particularly sarcastic mood and used the word "sweetie" in a post. Someone stepped in and told you I was female because you were about to let me have it! 😛

You're not the only person who's confused me for being male. I just have a very strong personality and it tends to get confused as masculine. But I'm 100% woman and proud of it!

Yes you sure are, Kis, and jaba would have you no other way, my "mocha flavored mama"!......

No, I am talking about a TMF male who deliberately picks a feminine screen name, and deliberately identifies himself as a female in his "TMF bio".....and purports to be a female in his posts.......I just suspect that this happens from time to time, and I do not think our ladies are prone to make such "deliberate" misrepresentations.....

And I for one think it is in some cases childish immaturity, and in most cases dishonest, even if it is his own "personal fantasy", but that is just my own opinion, and I understand and respect that others here disagree with me.....

We just have to listen to our guts and realize that the Internet is a double-edged sword and anonymity can work for us and against us on here.

right, Rajee.....

and it seems that the ladies here are a little more wary of these situations than many guys....perhaps because ladies have to have their guard up in many encounters and interactions around here.....I don't think guys are really used to that.... :ermm:

There might be some members who chose a name that sounded like a name of a
person whose gender is opposite to their own because they had it before TMF. They created it for different reasons and they might be unaware of the reults of their online name here.
:bouncybou :couch: 😀 :wavingguy :woot:

Welcome to the internet: Where the men are men, the women are men, and the children are FBI agents.

If I log on to the TMF as a woman, it's because I need to feel pretty. :justlips:

I've certainly enjoyed reading this thread! Jaba, you and uncle bill certainly will have a lot of traveling to do to tickle--oh, I mean, check out--all the women on the forum! When did you say you'd be arriving in Texas?

Wait a minute......We were looking foreward to YOU coming to California for the Rose
Parade.... 😎 :tickle: 😎

I bet your giggle is sweeter "music" than the marching band....... :2poke:

Yes of course, there are men here pretending to be women. It would not surprise me if 1/3 of the "women" here are actually men. Is there anything really wrong about that? Is it worse than man or women pretending to be twenty five years younger? Is it worse than people pretending to be NASA engineers, supermodels, karate experts when they are not. People pretend to be a lot of things. Now if you want to be sure and you can't meet that person at a gathering then ask if they have a webcam. Photos can be easily faked, live webcam footage is much harder. Plus you can buy a webcam these days for under $25.

I mean, are there males here posing falsely on this forum as females, and using a feminine screen name and a female bio, and posting as a female member of this forum?.....

In my view (and the view of many I talk to), yes. Though I have no hard proof of this, just a funny feeling about a few who seem to go out of their way to act like stereotypical male fantasies.

Do you think, as I do, that there may be a few TMF "male" members that have TMF female siggy names and profiles, and post on the forum acting and responding to posts as "women"?

Who knows the warped reasons for this behavior, they be numerous.....

Female intuition is far stronger than any suspicions I have, and there are more than a few women here who tell me they also believe this "TMF gender bending" is taking place.......

What do you think?

I know a couple of chicks who use male screennames

Me too. They signed up with one screen name the first time, but then picked an additional screenname that sounded more androgyneous just so they can post without getting hit on.

Hi Iggy.....

Maybe part of the problem is my ignorance and naievety in regard to web interaction, and its probably not fair to paint all the guys here with the same lack of awareness.....at least in my case, thank goodness for ladies here who try to steer me in the right direction, give me good advice and advisory, and keep me from "crashing into the rocks" around here....

I have never visited a chat room, so I really don't know what goes on in there, but based on the descriptions here I don't know if its a particularly inviting place for interaction.....

Iggy, I don't want to feel that I have to go through some "web cam verification" process to confirm what seems to me to be my reasonable expectation that the person I am talking to is of the gender that they say they are.....

If I made a thread here that asks men if they had any personal health experiences with, say, prostate or testicular cancer, and a TMF "male" responded with his own personal experiences, why would I have an" I don't really care if he is a true male, or some lady with a "male fantasy fetish" or some "immature prankster" attitude? Am I "intolerant" for expecting that the person I am communicating with be the gender that they say they are?

And Milagros, my friend.....if you went to a gathering and finally met the "nice" person that you had been corresponding with on the TMF for years, and developed a friendship, and the person turned out to be of the opposite sex than they told you, would you still have the "so what" attitude? I would be pretty saddened and dissapointed, probably feeling a bit foolish also, not to mention the hurt I would feel if deep friendship or any physical attraction was involved......and should I harbor some of the blame for being a naieve "bumkin", and not putting my "webfriend" on some webcam or administering some "online lie detector test" to confirm something so basic as the true gender of the person I am takling to? And I would probably be more upset at the lack of true gender disclosure, than over a lie about an occupation, status, or other attributes....

but wait, Knox :wow: ....surely you're not insinuating that a member who seeks to "promulgate their own fantasies" by posting and posing on this forum as a member of the opposite sex, is engaging in "acceptable" fantasy activity?....I mean a person should have a reasonable expectation that if he is talking to a TMF female, that she be, in fact, "female"?

I don't think that is your insinuation, but I want to be sure....... 🙂

It's not that I find it acceptable. I just think it's a fait accompli.

You've never been wrong about one yet, beautiful..... :bowing:

That's why I always come to you about those matters first..... :xpulcy:

That is....when I am not coming to you for other "reasons"..... 😉

c'mon, Knox.......

So you're gonna make me got to the dictionary for your answer, Knox? :scared:

And a FRENCH dictionary, at that? :jester:

(That IS a "french" phrase, isn't it? 😱 )

Yes, Jaba, you're gonna have to go to one of those translation sites. A New Years gift for you 😀

These people are already here, doing what they're doing. Nothing I can do to change that. I just weed them out first. Not brain surgery, either...

Thanks for the "gift", Knox......:santasmil

Call me simple, but I just want to meet nice people with similar interests....I am sure you want to do the same.....

Its a shame we have to be "weed wackers" too, huh?

They are traditionally referred to as "posers"

My philosophy with posers is that I will take for granted their stated gender as long as it doesn't cost me anything to do so. Anybody who lets oneself get emotionally involved with somebody merely through text communication is begging for a traumatic letdown.

Posers are pretty easy to identify. There was one, I can't quite remember the name, but we were talking pretty regularly. "She" was a ler very interested in cyber tickling.

"Hey, I've got an idea." I said enthusiastically. "Let's do it over the phone, so we can hear each other's voice!"

"Well, I'd love to Drew...but...well I just have this rule, I never give out my number to somebody on the Internet. It's nothing personal, you understand."

"Oh, of course," I said understandingly. "I don't want you to do anything that might make you uncomfortable. Here, I'll give you MY number."

A pause...... "I still can't. What if you had one of those caller ID things?"

"Then we'd each have each other's telephone number. Even Steven."

"Well, I can't call long distance."

"Got that covered too," I said. "I'll give you a toll free 800 number to a conference bridge. Each of us can dial into the bridge, and neither will see the other's telephone number. Nobody else will be able to listen because only you and I will have the access code. Are you ready? Here it is..."

After a long pause...."Look, I'm just not comfortable talking over the phone."

"Why not?" I asked. "A minute ago you said you'd 'love to.'"

"I know. It's just that I'm way more comfortable with IM."

I've guaranteed you anonymity and toll-free access, yet you still won't talk to me. You and I both know there can be only one reason."

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean. YOU'RE A GUY!"

"WHAT?! I am not!"

"Then prove it. Talk to me."

"I told you, I'm not comfortable with that."

"Fine. Then I'm not comfortable talking to you at all. Buh bye."

Been there done that! i wouldnt get into any serious chat with someone that wont talk on the phone. its easy to block their number so privacy is not an issue. bunch a phonies! 😡

..I am female and have not detected anything "strange" since I have been here. I haven.t been here long however, and have not gone into the chat room. I can usually tell by the way someone "speaks". Like the level of detail provided when chatting live. Can I ask how this is being detected?
