What Myriads said does bother me. I would feel really badly if they let the chatroom go, because I feel it is a very important part of the association and comradery of TMF. As one of the only TMF'ers (besides Myriads) that posted here who still goes into the chatroom every night, this is how I see it, and I know I've made this point to Myriads:
It is my opinion that the chatroom has changed. I wouldnt call it "bad", it's just different. On some nights, it is the same lively, wonderful place it was when I joined TMF two years ago, while on others, it can be a bit silent and at times unpleasant. I know Myriads has made the public comment in the room that in any big group there is bond to be change, and many times the group just has to roll with the punches and go along with it. Baseball teams, marriages, and even people undergo change, as is such with life and society. Iam a historian, and change is part of life. My suggestion to the people who believe it has changed or are unhappy is to simply ignore or report any troublemakers as I do, and to let the mods sort it out as they always tell us. While I can understand staying away if people make things unpleasant, I have made it my motto that as long as I follow the rules of the chat, and dont get banned, no one, five, or ten troublemakers are going to keep me from being in a place I enjoy, to discuss a subject I enjoy, that of tickling. I have seen many friends leave or not come in as often as they used to, and while this makes me sad, I just try to make new friends, and talk to the old ones when I can. Such is life, especially in a large group of people.
Myriads, if I may make one other point. I feel in my heart that the same people who talk of the chat changing, and also talk of staying away because they feel it has changed or become "unpleasant" will feel very sad if you do decide not to renew the chat, and we no longer have a place to come and socialize. I know and admit it s changed, and yet Iam still here, as I refuse to allow a few bad apples to ruin my time on TMF. Anyone who doesnt come to the chat or leaves TMF due to a few jerks is letting the idiots win, which is exactly what they want and counterproductive to the room and forum itself. Stay, ignore the jerks, report them if it gets troublesome, and let's get back to the basics of why we all joined TMF, to have an online place to visit when we wish to discuss tickling and other topics. I'll get off my soapbox now, but I think getting back to basics is what it's all about. I'm interested to hear feedback to my points.
One other point: Despite a few jerks, there are still many wonderful people who are part of TMF, and the chat, and I try to focus on those people, and making friends with good, new people. I dont know if my motto or what I do will work for others, but perhaps getting back to the basics of why we all came here in the first place, will help us improve our enjoyment of TMF, and the chat.
