Your not renting or buying his movies is really a moot point, since he more than likely doubles your salary on Bad Santa royalties alone. He's an actor. I owe him nothing, and he owes me nothing. If I see him in public and I say "what's up" and he tells me to fuck off, well, then whatevs. It's not exactly like normal everyday people adhere to the notion that they have to be nice just to put on a good public face.



I'm fine with not agreeing with everyone else. I'm also fine with not understanding what the big deal is. A great radio interview wasn't going to sell me his record, and him being a dick on the radio wasn't going to sell me his record either.

It's a simple vacuum. This is finding mindless stuff to get indignant about.

Except with the whole part of acting as if you and the common man are owed something simply based on whether or not someone is wealthy or famous. That's just wrong.

I agree with you. Who gives a damn if he's an arrogant asshole or not. Doesn't mean anything to me. If i don't want to go watch his movies i don't have to. Just like if he doesn't want to be nice during an interview. He doesn't have to be.

What do i care if he starts being a dick in every interview because he wants to be and doesn't give a rats ass if people like him or not. It won't be any skin off my nose when nobody but howard stern wants to interview him. Nor would it matter to me if because he is an asshole in interviews he stops getting movie rolls and has to live off those royalties you mention him making.

I really just relieved that they didn't do the usual hacky Leno/Letterman/Ferguson/formerly Conan/Kimmel cookie-cutter niceties promotional interview. Thank goodness for someone to come along and rock that mediocrity, trained-seal boat.

It got people talking, which will promote both BBT's band and the band that the interviewer is a member of. Mission accomplished, in a thankfully different style.

The interviewer probably mentioned something he wasn't supposed to JUST to get a reaction. Don't think that doesn't happen. That's how Bobby Knight gets half his press.

And it was something like 6 AM. Who's "engaging" while on tour at that time of day? I'm not nice even at 3 in the afternoon in my own hometown.

Y'know... Billy Bob Thornton is famous for acting. He's not famous for his music; I didn't know he had a band (although, honestly, what actor doesn't, currently?) until I read this post.

It is possible to graciously steer the conversation in the desired direction, but this man leads the lifestyle of the rich and famous because people want to see him act, and want to hear about his private life. If he wasn't an actor, would he even have a band... let alone have a band in the position in which his band is in? Most groups don't make it to the point where they're receiving media coverage.

Yes, everybody deserves some privacy, but it's not like his chosen pursuit on-the-side is something which doesn't normally receive news coverage in and of itself, so that's not an issue.

Guess what? He got people to notice him...and waste our time on him. It's what many of the musicians are doing these days. Give a shitty interview. Or better yet, get yourself busted. Then everyone's talking about you. And, oh, btw...I have a new movie/CD coming out soon.

I think he, and many of our pop stars, are jerks. But, they sure know how to get us to nitice them! lol
