Being as young as I am, I consider myself to be of good standing, bowling-wise...
A few weeks ago, I shot my first seven, a 701 series (beating my mother's 27-year high of 700). My average right now is only 177 or so. High game: 259.
I am a lefty and I throw a BIG hook. My 16 lb reactive urethane ball is the smaller hook of the two, reserved for low-hook houses, like synthetic lanes or heavy oil. I put it down 3 to 5 boards left of the center and it drifts out about 10 boards, waits for the last second, then rockets back into the pocket. My 15 lb reactive resin El Nino, however, is a MONSTER. I use it in heavy-hook houses, like wood or wood/synthetic mixes. I literally have to stand in the right hand gutter, put the ball on 3 board, and push it all the way to the lefty's one or two board. It always comes back, within the last 10 feet of the lane it grabs the wood and flies across into the pocket like someone kicked the hell out of it.
Trouble with such a big hook: Leaves alot of seven pins. Fuckers.
